Mixed feelings but more positive than negative…read more Not going to go into details about why I was here but wanted to give some feedback about my experience. *The patient parking lot desperately needs to have the lines repainted. Multiple cars taking up two spots. *For coming in on a late weekend morning the service was quick for what needed to be done. In and out of the waiting room a couple times but not a long wait. When the sun is shining through the windows the warmth of a winter day feels nice. *When finally taken into the ER the service that was provided for my partner was very well. She was highly concerned from previous visits at her own medical places that when drawing blood she was getting pricked multiple times because they couldn't find the vein. She requested an ultrasound which the person who conducted it did it in the first try but wasn't completely successful but it worked enough. The main care taker, Emma?, was fantastic and made my partner very comfortable. I gave her that feedback which cheered up her day. *I noticed on the drapes around the bed where I was sitting had some stains on them. I brought it to Emma's attention and she said she would have the cleaners take care of it. I typically don't need to go to hospitals. I'm what they consider "boring " which is good. But I would come here if I needed immediate attention for something.

Mind you, this is what we did for a good part of the first week of my relatives hospitalization. Then comes week two and the visitation policy appears to change as it would now seem that the hospital expects the visitors to wait out in their cars or outdoors; despite the current weather conditions. With all due respect but if we were to leave any animal in our vehicles (even with the windows down) in this EXTREME HOT weather, we would be under fire for abuse. So why is it okay to force visitors (i.e. older ones and those with possible health problems) to wait for their turn by sitting in their vehicles in this heat? Sure we can run air conditioning...But not only does this impose a possible risk of one's vehicle overheating in this weather; but for those traveling a considerable distance, it also uses more of their resources thus adding to expense of their everyday travel. Granted, we are in a pandemic, but some of us are not only vaccinated, but we are also required to sanitize and wear our masks (I, for one, double-mask on top of being vaccinated) throughout our visit. It is genuinely sad to see rules change constantly (as if right doesn't know what left is doing) and to feel as if the hospital doesn't give a damn about those (e.g. the visitors) who are striving SOOO HARD to support their loves ones who are ill, depressed and want nothing more than to be healthy again and home.

On a personal note, my daughter is a Nurse at the Springfield Shriners. Since her young age of 4 she has wanted to be a Shriners Nurse. A friend of hers was a patient and she accompanied her friend and parent for a well visit and physical therapy. She was awe struck and with the continued influence of our family members in the Nursing field, our daughter made her dream come true in 2018. It's one not the smaller Shriner Facilities, but every one of them is staffed with kind and compassionate caring individuals. Many of whom work part-time due to budgetary constraints being a non-profit, so these professionals need to supplement their incomes by working per-diem at other Healthcare facilities. It's takes a special person to juggle and remain grounded caretakers. Our daughter has shared some very heart warming stories about the patients and their families situation. Each being unique from the other. I wish I could go into further detail, but out of respect of each patient I can't. Please trust me when I say, the Shriners organization in Springfield, Massachusetts works miracles, as does all of their other Hospitals. Happy NATIONAL NURSES WEEK Shriners and all others!

One nurse, Rachel, was especially kind and professional, and I would like to acknowledge her positively. The following day, I was transferred to the second floor for continued care. During this time, I was assigned a nurse named Stephen Cjaza. I had several concerns regarding his conduct and hygiene. He had a noticeable wet cough he was trying to hold back but couldn't and an unsanitary odor, and at times his mask was worn improperly while working on a recovery floor he would have his nose or mouth out coughing, where patients may be more vulnerable to infection. At one point, he attempted to remove a needle from my arm without wearing gloves, which caused me concern regarding infection control and safety. Additionally, after requesting pain medication, I was told it would be provided; however, it was never administered. It appeared that the request was not addressed before his shift ended, and care was handed off to the next staff member without follow-up. After my discharge on December 12, I contacted the facility with questions regarding my medications. During this call, I spoke with (Olayemi Ajayi, MD), located at 95 South Road, Unit 7, Somers, CT. The interaction was unprofessional. Dr. Ajayi was rude during the conversation and terminated the call abruptly while I was speaking, leaving my medication concerns unresolved

They need to hire someone that understands time management and can coordinate the patients better. Having someone sit and wait for five hours that is just there to receive a follow up shot and doesn't even need to see a doctor, seems very unnecessary. They should hire someone that can coordinate better. Order the shot and then have someone administer it when they have a free minute....seems pretty obvious but I just don't think they have an experienced enough staff at this location. I understand some people are more sick than others, but a quick shot would not interfere with seeing the other patients. It literally takes under a minute. They also shouldn't waste their time responding to every negative comment with the same cookie-cutter response about how they're looking into it and trying to make things better... Because they clearly are not. At least change up your response so that it looks like you're reading the comments

For me it's a hike. It's about 1 hour away. But this place by far exceeds Harrington Hospital in Southbridge Ma. Upon entering the building was noticeably very clean for such a busy public place. I couldn't believe my eyes. The staff here is friendly and they made a great team. Upon entering the Children's ER everyone that came in to help out our boy was amazing at listening to what we had to say. They all communicated well. They worked together great as a team. They were much faster than I've ever seen in any ER. They actually had empathy for my child and worked hard to get him comfortable. Each doctor that we saw was right on it. We are on night two of my son being hospitalized and still we are impressed with the care we are getting. I will update here if need be.
