I was so happy with my tour that I was prepared to sign my son up for a full time position in the infant room. I accidently got one of the owners to share that the daycare is owned by 11 people that are involved in the same "spiritual organization". They shared some literature about their beliefs. The program is nondenominational. My post is to share this information, because it is not mentioned anywhere on the website, nor the reviews. The 3 stars is for lack of transparency.

Having only had my children in the care of a nanny up until their placement at APLH, I was concerned about the 1:1 attention and their individual needs being met in a group setting and my expectations were exceeded infinitely. I could truly go on and on about our experience there but the directors are incredible--efficient, thoughtful, and loving to say the least. The staff is so warm and welcoming and made the transition seamless for my family. The facility is immaculate and full to the brim of engaging activities and developmentally appropriate toys. I loved receiving updates on their day, having the opportunity to celebrate holidays with APLH, and the ease of messaging back and forth with the teachers whenever I needed to. According to some of the people who work there, without naming names, it is NOT a welcoming place to work in or be an employee in. Everyone who works there is miserable and disgruntled. It is not a "safe space" environment. I have a direct quote from someone who works there, "it's not very welcoming". There is one employee who is rude to other newer employees. This place needs better management and more professionalism. Have some standards. If you are a daycare, you should be a welcoming safe emotional space for new employees who need training. I know 2 people who work here who have both said these direct quotes about their experience there. Toxic work environment, some people should not be around kids. It might be fun for your kids to go here, but parents think about what you are supporting when you send your kid here. If you are about people, this place isn't it. There are far better daycares in the area.

Country Children's Center is a daycare with several locations in the Katonah area. My son attended…read morethe Farm location for about 6 months before leaving to start nursery school this fall. There are a lot of really great reasons to recommend CCC. There are also some places I think they could improve. The best thing about CCC is the staff. My son was in the twoddlers room mostly with Mary Kate and Florence and he received wonderful care. They do projects and play. They bring the kids outside as often as possible. They really care for the kids and you can feel it upon entering the room. I can't say enough good things about all the teachers I met at CCC. CCC also has pretty good hours for working parents and flexibility in pick up and drop off times. This is the thing that I appreciated most about the Farm. My son was always with a teacher he knew and a few other kids to play with when I collected him. The size of The Farm is both a strength and a weakness. They're predictable and always staffed appropriately. Coming from a smaller daycare that is a real plus. However, the size also leads to broad rules to accommodate a lot of people. The meals are generic. The kids get special attention in their rooms but to the organization of CCC they are one of many. The weaknesses for me are in the price and in communication. We pay over $1500/month for three days a week of care. As with everything you get what you pay for and I think my son receives excellent care. He's always happy at pick-up. However, I would expect a push towards organic and local foods and nutrition instead of fish sticks and the like. They also ask parents to bring a 5 pm snack. That snack time causes issues at dinner time in our house. I try to provide a healthy snack and I would just say no but I don't want him to be the only kid without one. In regards to communication, CCC just needs to get with the digital age. The parents of their kids are from the digital generation. They still communicate mostly via paper and since my son isn't there Monday or Friday, we don't get our sheet until Tuesday morning. Then I'm scrambling to purchase a t-shirt they requested be brought in or something trivial. They could just email or text the classroom parents. They send an email with a daily roundup, that would be a great opportunity. Sorry for the lengthy review but I know when I'm looking for childcare, it's so helpful to hear from other parents.

My two children, ages 6 months and 2 years, attended Growing Minds for 3 weeks in September 2023…read more It was the most stressful, horrible daycare experience I ever could have imagined. The administration is very disorganized, and anytime there was an issue I was given excuses with absolutely no accountability from the staff. The center is a year old and aesthetically looks nice, with many rooms children are scheduled to travel to and learn in. My two year old was in one small room all day, with no windows, and never traveled to any of the other rooms. I was told there was a specific curriculum they'd be following, but every picture I was sent was of children dancing, building blocks, or watching an iPad. I addressed this and was told they had a no screen policy, yet they continued sending me pictures of my son watching a small iPad with the other kids. There were at least three occasions (in only three weeks) where I went to pick up my two year old at 3:30 and his diaper hadn't been changed since we dropped him off at 7am. He got horrible diaper rashes, and this behavior is absolutely neglectful. My infant was supposed to be in the infant room, but because of low enrollment and staff shortage was grouped with toddlers who were much older, walking and running around the room. She came home with marker all over her hands one day, and when I called and asked about it I was told that it was developmentally appropriate to give a six month old markers. The last straw was when she came home with a quarter-sized hole in her shirt that looked like it had been cut with scissors, and an abrasion/cut on her tongue. Not one staff member had any idea what had happened to my infant. I took her to the doctor and they told me it was consistent with a fall, and I should have had an incident report and that the cut was very concerning for a six month old baby. I was refused a refund of my $1,000 deposit because I didn't give them SIXTY day notice of termination of my children attending. Which was impossible for me to do based on the circumstances and multiple incidents stated above. I was asked continuously on my exit interview to give Growing Minds more time and things would get better. If you read all of this and you're a parent, you know there is absolutely no time to give when your children are being openly neglected. If you're thinking about sending your child here, DO NOT. This daycare should be shut down.

We have taken numerous fitness classes at the "J" and each one has exceeded our expectations. We have also sent our son (and now our daughter) to Sara Walker Nursery School. It is a phenomenal school with loving and nurturing teachers. Our son was in the Terrific Tots, 2's, 3's and 4's program. These programs fully prepared him for Kindergarten. I can't speak highly enough about the school, the teachers, the curriculum and the care he received at the school.
