It has that familiar atmosphere, with a wonderful selection of imported products that can be difficult to find elsewhere in the area. The store carries an impressive variety of Korean and Japanese ingredients, snacks, frozen foods, beverages, and fresh produce. Their prepared food section is also worth a visit. The Korean dumplings are outstanding, especially the glass noodle dumplings, which are among my favorites. They also offer delicious japchae, kimchi jjigae, and many other ready-to-enjoy Korean specialties. The store recently came under new management, so unfortunately the 10% military discount is no longer available. Some imported items are definitely on the expensive side, but that is to be expected with specialty products shipped from overseas. Overall, I still find the pricing to be fair, particularly considering the quality, authenticity, and selection. What truly keeps me coming back is the customer service. Marianna and Beth are always welcoming, friendly, and incredibly helpful. They take the time to answer questions, recommend products, and make every visit enjoyable. So, If you're looking for authentic Korean or Japanese ingredients, prepared meals, or simply want to experience a taste of East Asia, Arirang is absolutely worth a visit!!!

A very good selection for the size of the store. They have limited produce and side dishes, but they are excellent quality. The refrigerated cases and the two large frozen sections are excellent. They also sell a good variety of base ingredients, oils, vinegars, soy sauces, jangs, spices, seasoning mixes and condiments. And a whole aisle of instant ramen and other instant noodles! Heavy on Korean options, but they also have some Japanese, Indonesian and other offerings. There are tea and snack sections too. And a good rice selection - multiple varieties of Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Thai and more. Service is always quick and efficient. The store is very clean and I feel confident and safe buying my food there.

The expiration was 2023, but I imagine the heat and improper storage conditions is what must have made them go bad. I've grown up with these chocolates and I can tell how fresh they are by the smell alone. Knowing they had gone bad, I still went ahead and took a bite and the taste was as disappointing as I imagined they would be. They were only 3.99 for a pack so I decided to let it go. Now, had it been the usual 9$ I pay in New York, then I would have rushed back in there for my money. My suggestion to the business, since you obviously can't open and check every single chocolate, open the packs, and sell them individually for 25 or 50 cents a piece. Although you might lose a couple of dollars per pack, @25cents, ($1.49) or make an extra dollar @ 50c it sure beats the bad review and bad feeling for the customer who wasted $4 for stale chocolate. Considering here in Texas, that's half of someone's a hourly wage. Anyway, as far as the business, they have a good selection of Indian spices, some Peruvian spices, some Colombian candy/ which at this point I wouldn't trust, frozen Colombian and Indian foods. It's a good place to visit if you miss wherever you're from, or just want to expand your pallets.

I had tried to go to the huge Asian styled building called Oriental Imports off Gateway several times but it was closed and boarded up even though Google Maps said it was open. Turns out it's closed and the owners have moved across the street literally and have a smaller space called Oriental Market. It's been open for about 6 months and I swear I've died and gone to Chinatown. It was "Big Trouble" for my wallet alright. I wanted to buy everything there...all the tchotchkes and snacks and tools and clothing and decor! From Chinese cheongsams, to Korean handbooks, to Japanese kimonos, clothing is definitely authentic and you don't have to worry about sizing since you can see the fit there, unlike online. The market portion has a lot of snacks and sauces and basically they've taken the most well known and tasty brands and stocked them, so they've weeded out the hundreds of off brands a bigger marketplace stocks in the hopes that you'll try another maybe cheaper soy sauce etc. It's just easier to find quality stuff here, imo. I got a lot of snacks and even got a Kaiju t-shirt that vaguely reminds me of the Jurassic Park logo, so it's mildly ironic. The quality of the items were far better than the actual Chinatown stuff I grew up with in Los Angeles, but we'll see as I use them over time. I'm so happy I don't have to wait to get my Chinese ointments and wait for Weeee to ship my stuff online. He just stood at register, and I stood there, waiting for my change and receipt, took him like 15 seconds, he finally reaches into register to give me my change. Did not tell me "thank you" , he didn't say anything to me, at all. They had just recently opened so she was in process of labeling the shelves with prices. I'm so HAPPY this place is close to home and they have so many items that are extremely hard to get. This little market is very organized and super clean. They carry all sorts of Asian items to include a variety of seafood items you would NEVER be able to find anywhere. The Manager eventually joined the call and told me I had to pick up my clams that day (we wouldn't even have made it in time as they were about to close) or I would lose my money because that was our responsibility. I asked if he could just give me a credit for the dead seafood and the clams they kept. I took a video of the dead crayfish and weighed them in a scale. He absolutely refused and became hostile on the phone. I told him I would call my bank, and take to social media so consumers would know who they are dealing with. They kept taunting me and deleting my comments. He posted a sign about bags and posted that on TikTok, then also posted something stating "if you don't know how to handle live seafood, don't buy it". I have lived on the coast for a large part of my life and I'm very familiar with handling seafood. This is incredibly childish and unprofessional. The amount for these items totaled approximately $40-50, I spent almost $200. I honestly didn't see a big deal. I told them I would never return, their response was "THANK GOD!".

Wow this place was in much need of a recent review!…read more So first things first.... This place has greatly improved since i first walked in about 2 or so years ago. They have added signs to indicate their aisles and little by little, they are fixing up the area so that it doesnt look so neglected on one side of the store. Thats what throws me off still about the place, especially how dark their refrigerated items are. I believe the business i basically run by a couple and they can only afford to hire so much help. So they ultimately are taking care of the entire store themselves which is not easy! I gotta give them mad props for being the only asian store who sells rice flakes!!! These things are the bomb to cook up and eat with korean bbq if you plan on cook some at home. Its also great for alternative noodle dishes! And only $2 each bag! Their produce department varies too with how much they stock. Just yesterday, it was super bare. But other days, especially the summer time, its packed!
