I was super excited to hear about a Chinese market here in El Paso. Coming from Brooklyn to Dallas and now El Paso I've been missing the ease of just grabbing dumplings or any sauces I need. I was pleasantly surprised with the selection available. Sadly the pricing reflects the fact that you're in El Paso. Nearly double what you'd pay at a Chinese market. So that stinks. It beggars can't be choosers. Some of the items didn't look too fresh and it was a little dusty in some spots. So not a lot of rotation of products. The service at this market is absolutely awful!!!! I spent almost $200, some of that was live seafood. I purchase some clams and some crayfish. The crayfish were in little net bags, I did see movement so I grabbed 4bags. 3.3lbs of those were dead. The cashier failed to give us our clams, I called them when we got home she apologized for "forgetting to give us our bag". We live far west and in traffic the drive is over 30mins. The Manager eventually joined the call and told me I had to pick up my clams that day (we wouldn't even have made it in time as they were about to close) or I would lose my money because that was our responsibility. I asked if he could just give me a credit for the dead seafood and the clams they kept. I took a video of the dead crayfish and weighed them in a scale. He absolutely refused and became hostile on the phone. I told him I would call my bank, and take to social media so consumers would know who they are dealing with. They kept taunting me and deleting my comments. He posted a sign about bags and posted that on TikTok, then also posted something stating "if you don't know how to handle live seafood, don't buy it". I have lived on the coast for a large part of my life and I'm very familiar with handling seafood. This is incredibly childish and unprofessional. The amount for these items totaled approximately $40-50, I spent almost $200. I honestly didn't see a big deal. I told them I would never return, their response was "THANK GOD!". read more

This was the first Asian grocery market my husband and I went to here in El Paso. It's a bit of a drive from where we live but we've been craving some Asian cuisine and EP doesn't have any KBBQ spots so we decided to try to cook it at home. Wan Jia Le has pretty good reviews so we wanted to check out what they had! The store is in a little strip mall right off the highway but the sign is big so you can't really miss it. They have a pretty big space so I was naturally excited to see what they had. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of products they sold but unfortunately they were missing a few stuff I was looking for. I noticed certain items they keep low stock of as well. The chip aisle definitely looked like most of the products had been sitting there a while. I noticed the produce didn't look the freshest either. They also offer fresh seafood options but I would be wary of that since I don't know how long the fish have been sitting in the tanks. Overall, Wan Jia Le supermarket is a pretty decent spot if you're nearby and know that they carry what you're looking for. But honestly I'd rather go to Arirang Market closer to the northeast side of town. They had EVERYTHING I was looking for and their stock seems to be newer and rotated often. read more

This store is my absolute favorite. I love the different kind of treats there. I always stop by to get a snack. The service is nice and fast based on my experience. I've been meaning to come here and check out for a while now. I was really impressed with how much Asian products they carry. I had been looking for rice paper and rice noodles everywhere to make spring rolls and furikake seasoning and I finally found it:) the store was really clean and I'm unsure about the other reviews but the girls working here were super friendly and very helpful when I was searching for items. This Chinese Asian supermarket has been for a long time the only game in town. This if you exclude some Korean supermarkets. The have a great selection of noodles and Chinese dumplings as well as Xiao Long Boa a Shanghainese soup dumpling I really like. They also have fresh Chinese vegetables and fresh blue river crabs during the season. Their selection of rice is limited. So is the overall selection of the stores. In a way it is like playing a game of hide and seek as you will never really know what the store has in stock. Unfortunately the shop is not operated by Chinese staff so no one in the store knows what is going on. The store is well located next to a great Vietnamese restaurant. As the Asian community is growing in El Paso it would be a great investment to invest into the product selection and improve the overall offering of this store. A Hispanic male employee was extremely rude and harassed me. I was looking around the store I purchased over $200 worth in groceries, as the selection is decent enough at this store but the Hispanic male employee was rude and angry with me taking photos of the products and the decorations. Honestly it was extremely disrespectful and he scared me and I ended up fleeing after paying for my groceries in fear he was going to take my phone away from me. Fyi. Parrot fish is not illegal. It is caught and consumed all over the globe including the US. States along the coast and Hawaii serve it up in dishes all the time. This place is not the worst I've ever seen. When you need what you need, as long as it's available you go get it. Love this store! They had so many stuff Arirang market doesn't have. Arirang would still beat this place because of their wide variety of frozen food and veggies but this place was a great find. I bought organic adzuki beans ($2.79), kikkoman cooking sake ($6.99), and a veggie slicer ($3.99). I recently bought organic adzuki for over $6 on Amazon so I was so happy to find it. Also, Arirang doesn't carry the cooking sake. I often just used wine but sake can give a better flavor. Also, the veggie slicer was the kind I've been looking for forever but I could never find it anywhere else. I'm definitely gonna go back there! read more

Stop cramming poor fish in tanks plus you don't feed them they start eating each other those poor catfish can't even move or swim which makes fish taste horrible plus it's cruel and it's something I notice in Asian markets either with live animals you guys have no compassion it's like it's not programmed into you maybe because of culture but yes stop cramming those poor fish ! I have been debating between three and four stars for Wan Jia Le. I think for El Paso, it is the best Asian market we have. It has a little bit of everything. I appreciate their fresh fruits & veggies, although the Napa cabbage was $1.99 a pound!! They had persimmons, Asian pears, dry land taro, Choy sum, and a great assortment of mushrooms. I also buy my fresh noodles, seaweed and packaged foods here too. Also another bonus is their live seafood - blue crab, clams, and different fish. ******************* What I don't like about the store is their frozen fish section! I have no idea what kind of fish they have. Unlabeled and no date. Most of the fish looks freezer burnt and I'm not sure if this is legal or not. I've never seen anything like this before. What a find! I never expected a grocery store this large in El Paso packed with goodies from a variety of Asian countries. I came in mostly to explore and see what was here since I was just visiting town. I did find my favorite ito en Teas Tea Jasmine Green bottles and got a few of those, as well as some green tea to go powdered packets by Yamamotoyama. The store had 2 yuzu items that I already own - the McCormick's yuzu dressing and the yuzu gummy candy. There was a large section of frozen seafood, buns, and other treats. Aisles were filled with sauces, candies, snacks, and cooking utensils. I was quite impressed. $10 credit card minimum. read more

Not a bad little Asian market. It's located RIGHT NEXT to our favorite Phô restaurant, so it's hard NOT to come inside when we go eat. They have a little of everything. But nothing is THAT much different than the other Asian markets in town, aside from its location. I do however enjoy playing with their live fish and crabs they sell. Fun times using the tongs to pick up giant crabs and put them on top of other crabs and watch them get all fussy while my wife is shopping. Plenty of Japanese products, if that's what you're looking for. Korean based (as far as majority of the stuff sold) as most Asian markets are. I would not recommend buying any vegetables from here. I purchased shallots and most of it has mold growing on it. Anything that considered "Fresh" I would not recommend in buying because they are simply NOT FRESH. The price is on the higher side, but it is not bad for an Asian grocery store in El Paso. Both told me the manager ALAN was not there for me to speak with, that they don't know when he'll be in, that they don't think he will call me. Seriously?! What kind of business do they run? Ahhhhh! I have a really mixed feeling about this place. For the good, they are pretty much the only place for me to find some authentic condiments and sweets treat from Taiwan. For the bad, they are really inconsistent about what's in stock. So very often I can only find 40-50% or less of what I have on the shopping list. They do offer me a business card so that I can call ahead of time to check if the items I need is in stock before I head out. But then most of the staff members there cannot speak Mandarin/Chinese, which makes it really difficult to communicate about specific brands or items, as there is not always a unified translation, and the staff members do not really "know" the items. read more

Be careful of prices. They sell lobsters in two different tanks; the top tank has bigger lobsters for a higher price ($14.99/lb). I asked for the bigger ones for $14.99, and I watched her grab two small ones from the bottom tank (cheaper price). I told her I wanted the ones from the top tank, and she explained that both tanks cost the same - they just "forgot to change the price on the sign." So I asked her if she can change them for the ones from the top, and she refused, saying that I can't change them. I'll get whatever she picked out for me. If you need help, ask the male employee to help you. He's much nicer. read more

Open 7 days a week from 9:30am to 8:30pm - so that's a plus. Their set up is a little difficult to navigate through since the aisles are fairly close together, but they have a good selection. All of the major brands are there. There is a small section of fresh produce including fresh bamboo (what the...) and a large freezer section. The prices are comparable to those in Asian supermarkets in the Northeast, but compared to things in El Paso, I suppose that they're a little more expensive. I mean, they do have to import all of these things... In addition to the groceries, they also offer a whole wall of inexpensive dishes and cookware. What is really strange though, is the mix of Asian music and Spanish music. Interesting. Oh, and they don't accept credit cards for anything under $25. read more

Love this asian location. It has a variety of Asian goods from Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Filipino products! Not much fresh veggies, BUT they have live seafood. Lol. Im always greeted and with a smile. The service here is great and don't be afraid to ask for help. They also sell household goods for cooking to silverware. I feel like the pricing is a bit cheaper than other stores in the area, but that's my opinion. I always go here when I run low. Lol. Parking is a bit jammed since there are other businesses next to it, but you're able to park on the side of the building. Just don't block the drive way. read more

I can get all my favorite ramens at this Asian market! They have fresh fish, crabs and clams. My 3 yo son loves going to view their catfish tank. There are some fresh veggies to chose from, lots of rice and tons of dry noodles to chose from. Oh and they have dry bobas! You can buy some and make them at home to put in your own drinks. Maybe they will have more boba drink flavors/powders to choose from as time goes on. Wow! I'm impressed! I thought it would be kind of "heh" from some of the other reviews, but it was actually pretty cool and not expensive at all! Lots of cooking utensils,cooking pots, steamers, etc. a large selection of teapots and dishes. Tons of food items, live crab( dungeness right now) periwinkles, clams, and live catfish and bass. Some decent produce, some incense and health items.like I said, not expensive at all! The staff is actually very friendly and helpful. Definitely going to be one of my go to places! (though u may wanna check prices vs amazon for habitual grocers) what i don't like about this market? price labeling is very poorly managed, i donno if this is a sales tactic or just bad inventory skills. also, some items are clearly expired or even rotting, so if you're not familiar with what you're buying, check the dates or be visually perceptive. -1 star freshness is the achilles' heel here so.. for god sake buy ur produce elsewhere. i recommend arirang market or make do with american produce.. read more

I love the selection here. As well as the snacks. But the best things are the pots and pans; incredibly non stick and a great price. Much better qualify than anywhere and better than some of the really fancy brands. They also have live lobster, crabs, oysters, mussels and fish variable by season. Great store. read more
