There was a musician playing on the stage in front of the distillery which is a nice touch for those who want to sit outside. We ordered old fashioned cocktails. I loved that they were made with block ice and even embossed the ice with the Devils River logo. The mixologist explained they don't do smoked old fashions due to fire hazard and location in a historic building. But he still made an engaging presentation in creating our cocktails. There was no food offered but they let us bring in voodoo donuts. The two gentlemen at the bar were very friendly and attentive and made our late night visit a special treat. It's held at the Historic Saint Anthony Hotel, right across from Travis Park. The theme is Waldorf on the Prairie, in that they're striving for the romance and elegance of the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, mixed with the Texas twang. The St. Anthony is a brilliant location for the event, with lots of ballrooms and grand hallways, it makes for a perfect place to have some cocktails and learn about liquor. It's open bar. All these liquor companies show up and set up booths where they pour a new, innovative drink, or a old favorite. They have liquor representatives there that are often handing out swag, and answering questions about the booze. There's also restaurants there, handing out samples of their food. They serve up small portions of their favorite bites. You can grab as much as you like! Nom! There's also live music, and fun stuff being put on by the booze companies. When I went, Jack Daniels was showing off virtual reality tours of their distillery while handing out whiskey shots. The best part of this is that it's all for children's charities! Waldorf on the Prairie showcased over 80 distilleries, cocktails, and restaurant nibbles in the splendor of the St Anthony Hotel. I was elated to see bourbon up front and center as you entered the event. The amber brown 'nectar of the gods' is my go-to when at home or out on the town. Tequila, gin, vodka, plus many other liquors that are new to me were available and sampled. Food wise: pork sliders, poke bowls, mole, and tons of sweets like bread pudding, pastries, and chocolates were throughout the event which made for easier access and better traffic flow. Overall, it's a great event giving people a cool reason to dress up and try delicious cocktails and food samples for a great cause as proceeds are donated to multiple children's charities.

From the guy I met who comes here often with his parrot to the people who love to rock out here and twirl you around on the floor...you know you're never gonna want to leave. I've heard several great bands here, and for the smaller size..this place has a huge personality. This place starts out with the stage and bar area as you walk in and wraps around into areas with pool and darts and a lovely patio area with a secondary bar so you don't have to walk back inside to order.
