Donuts, cheesy scrambled eggs & chicken sausage
Auhkia M.

Geesh! I do not know where to begin. There was no skepticism because I saw the reviews and looked at the menu prior to my arrival. Straight big back activity!!! There was only a 15 minute wait but my daughter and I decided to sit at the bar so we can be served immediately. The ambience is chic, warm, boho & simplistic yet mildly upscale. The staff is diverse, welcoming, and attentive! I mean just BEAUTIFUL! Now let's get into this food... My baby girl ordered housemade donuts (one glazed, one churro), chicken sausage & cheesy scrambled eggs. Although she took half of it to go, it did not make it to lunchtime lmao. I ordered the avocado toast with spicy fried chicken breast, and let me tell you, that chef put their foot in it *praise dance* the sourdough bread was toasted just right, fresh avocado, fluffiest eggs I've ever had in my life, and the chicken had a flawless combination of juiciness flavor and lightly crusted to perfection! I also ordered the Darling Sun cocktail.... And immaculate brunch cocktail! It did not last long! I also received a birthday cocktail. I absolutely loved the edible glitter. I highly recommend & I look forward to making them part of my Sunday routine! The conclusion of this review is the food is bomb as f*ck, and if you're reading this, you need to make your way there asap!!!!!

I'm from out of town but heard great things about this spot, so we came for brunch. For starters, the decor is super chic. The paintings on the wall, artsy neon lights near the bathroom, and the ceiling lights. Everything is well decorated. The carnitas chilaquiles were great to share amongst two people. The potato flautas were a great starter for the table. For drinks, I enjoyed the Paloma as well as the special, seasonal cocktail.

First time here and it was amazing celebrating my birthday here. The staff is awesome. The food was delicious and served really fast. I highly recommend stopping by to try this place soon.

Visited during the week and there was no wait time. I'd recommend coming during the week than weekend if you want a quieter less hectic experience AND no wait time. It's not uncommon for hour long wait on weekends, so be aware. There is indoor outdoor seating. Staff is great. Very attentive and friendly. Indoor decor is cute. Restrooms are clean. Food is great. I've been before and quality remains consistent.

This is such a cute brunch spot!! The moment I walked in, I felt like everything was so picture perfect. I ordered the eggs Benedict with fried chicken and cookies and cream latte. The Benedict came with a side of hashbrowns too that were soooooo good and crispy. I thought the chicken was ok, a bit on the drier side. But, I enjoyed the eggs Benedict and hashbrowns!

I was not prepared for Brussels sprouts to taste so good. They were delicious. I got the box street brekky which was two eggs, hash browns, bacon and Brussels sprouts. Very tasty. The potatoes had a crispy crust and soft inside. Eggs were cooked right and well seasoned. Bacon was thick. Service was quick and friendly. I sat at the bar, which has probably 20 seats. But there's a huge dining room and outside as well. Decor is warm and friendly.

I was in town for a conference and had a free morning to explore. After a few hours of wandering the city, hunger set in and a quick Yelp search led me to Box St. All Day. The place was busy when I walked in, which felt like a good sign. I grabbed a seat at the counter and looked over a menu full of appealing options. The breakfast burrito sounded perfect after my 6.5‑mile walk. It arrived quickly. The chorizo definitely made it a bit greasy, as another reviewer mentioned, but it was flavorful and satisfying. The burrito came with a verde salsa, and my waitress offered a spicier red version, even bringing me a second one when she saw I liked it. Service was friendly and attentive, and my water was refilled often, which I appreciated after all that walking. The ambiance was pleasantly lively -- a bustling vibe without being noisy. It's clearly a popular spot, but still comfortable enough to relax and enjoy a meal. Overall, a solid spot for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. 4 stars.

We loved this place. Great food and great service. Tried new things I've never even seen before. Loved the ambiance and my wife thought it was "so cute"

Box St Brekky - it was fine

This place has a lot going for it. The food is not one of them so I was torn. Things that it has going for it - easy to make online reservations - cute decor - terrific service by Haley - allowed a party of 4 to pay separately - decent coffee The food was fine. My breakfast plate the hashbrowns were the best part nice and crunchy, the scrambled eggs were pretty but overcooked for my preference, bacon was thick cut and cooked well, deep fried Brussel sprout has was fine. My friend got the cubano which apparently was over seasoned. Another friend got the chilaquiles with hot fried chicken and he said that was good. I suppose this might be one of the cuter brunch places in terms of aesthetics. And lots of choices on the menu so maybe something else might've been better. Since there were many other positives I am giving them the benefit of the doubt and extra star.

Made reservations, but still had to wait about 30-40 min! Very busy day and a lot going on nearby! However, service was excellent! For how busy they were! Hostesses made sure we got a table pretty quick after she found out we'd been waiting 30 min longer reservation time! Mimosas are ALWAYS great idea! Beautiful day out on the patio and the food was delicious! Very generous servings! This is a very "happening" place so pack your patience! Inside is quite crowded! Overall nice vibe especially to enjoy comfortable outdoor weather!!

A very nice brunch spot near the convention center. The donuts are exceptional, and make for a nice appetizer. Coffee isn't too bad either! The breakfast burrito was a true winner, so soft and fluffy and flavorful! The traditional breakfast was nice too, but came with way too many brussel sprouts! We were originally sat against the wall in a really weird spot, even though we had a reservation, but thankfully we were able to be moved once we asked. Our server also kept trying to sell us on additional items which felt weird, hence not a full 5-star experience.

Amazing service today by sweet Sunny! Truly top notch attention to detail. I appreciate he brought my sons drink in a lidded cup. He is disabled, and it means a lot when someone sees his accessibility needs. The food was solid, and the decor is cute. On the femme side; but my daughter loved it. They even send your leftover champagne with you; which is a big plus for this tired mama. Water served European style; but they'll happily bring ice if requested. Music a little loud and clubby for our tastes, but it was minor all in all. A good start to our day; and I would absolutely come again on future trips.

Great afternoon spent here...very personable staff, and engaging...wasn't too busy and atmosphere…read morewas great!

Update to first review below, rating updated from a 3 to a 5 star (drinks & bartender would get 10+…read morestars if we could rate that high): Saturday night: Went back for after dinner drinks at the Downstairs (a "speakeasy" throwback, look up the history of the place to see why). Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)
