This is a great, smaller hospital. I spent four days here and had a very positive experience. My family, who came and went to visit me often, also said everyone was nice and helpful and caring. I met RNs, CNAs, doctors, and other staff. Everyone treated me with care and dignity, which eased my concerns and helped me feel a bit better. where do I start. A cardiologist stringing our family along that he would get permission for a heart surgery at st Clair only to tell us MONTHS later to go to AGH. NOW my mom is too sick to get the life saving procedure. Then mom falling and going to the ER and tons of test were done (she's 81) including checking to see if hip broken. Upon being admitted they found a Kidney tumor. After release mom complained of hip pain, so searching all the files in Follow My Health, turns out an x-ray they did in the ER showed arthritis in the hip. When I asked patient services why we were not informed they literally said "we don't have to tell you everything we found. The kidney issue was more important" THE HECK?? THEN when a port was put in the kidney at the tumor site, they were supposed to see if a stent in the ureter would be needed and do that at the same time. But because their HVAC went out for 5 hours, once mom was taken, they rushed. And when I asked the doc if they put the stent in, he had the NERVE to say to me that he "couldn't find the ureter". THEN WHO CAN???? Me? the Ureter fairy? This hospital is the absolute worst read more

Last Monday the ER Triage staff treated me as I was seeking attention, a druggie & if I collapse in their waiting room I will be left there. I have had it!! Scummy hospital!! I took an Uber to a UPMC hospital which was $50 and stayed there. UPMC is by far the much better hospital system than this run down, low class crappy hospital. This was my first baby so I had no clue what I would be in for but all the doctors and nurses made things super smooth and as simple as they could be for me. This review is more about the Neurologist here, Dr. Mark Edward Hospodar. We thought we were going to see Dr. Barsouk, and we got in on a cancellation and got Dr. Hospodar, hoping to get more insight on my father's recent Alzheimer's diagnosis. I am still appalled at how condescending, insulting and rude this 'doctor' was to my dad... he ridiculed him for not knowing where he went to college and how many kids he had, asked him things like how he expected to drive a car when he didn't even know those things, the list goes on. It took us 3 days to calm my dad down after this horrible appointment. I doubt he will see this, but if he does I would say it's amazing that at his age he doesn't recognize that people with dementia are still people - still human beings that deserve honor and respect. I can only hope for his sake that if or when he gets dementia, he will find someone who doesn't treat him the way he is treating these people. We haven't been able to get my dad to go to any doctor since this appointment because of his experience here. A degree doesn't make you a doctor. read more

I have an adult daughter who needs a little extra help from us, she unexpectedly had heart surgery a year ago January,at UPMC Presby, absolutely wonderful. Afterwards,we had to choose a cardiologist, we chose Dr.Pray, due to the wonderful reviews. My daughter had two very bad heart valves, one they were able to correct, the other was replaced with a mechanical heart valve,because of this she is on blood thinners for the rest of her life,and has to check her blood levels weekly..So this past week,she has been having some issues that she had before her surgery,called the office to get an appt to see Dr. Pray,she is told we don't have anything until August 2,and that's when you are due for your six month checkup anyway, first the checkup was due long before August,she tells them that she is having issues that are concerning her, still, can't get you in till August... SERIOUSLY this is my daughters heart....Calling my/our PCP, who can get her in on this coming week ... What is going on with you people, she isn't calling with a runny nose, she's had heart issues and calling her heart Dr.... When I settle down, I am calling to see who she spoke to .. Came to the ER tonight, presented to the check in complaining of chest discomfort, rapid heart rate, left arm tingling and facial tingling. Also stated I threw up. Reception asked how long this has been going on, and replied for the past one hour, but has been festering mildly all day. Waited over one hour, thinking I would be seen rather quickly since presenting with symptoms which could have been a heart attack. Checked in at 8:35pm, waited and at 9:40pm decided to leave since I had started feeling better. I find it funny the average wait time at this ER states 28 minutes. Tonight skewed thy average. I would have given zero stars if I could, but the valet working was the only gold star working at this EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT. He offered a bottled water as I waited. Thanks to him. My advise is to beware. seek second opinion if something does not seem right. I was in St Clair Hospital for four days and was misdiagnosed. when they released me I was still ill and given improper follow up instructions. After getting second opinion at Allegheny General Hospital I was given proper treatment. I called St Clair and told them and I wrote a letter. I received a letter in return that they would submit my concerns to the physician review board. I never heard anything more but did receive lots of medical bills for treatment that was for a wrong diagnosis. read more

A place to stay away from at all cost. Tuesday before last I spent 4.5 hours and was given antibiotics which prescription was sent to my pharmacy. Dr Friend was an ass, dressed in a black t-shirt as if he had just walked out of a Guns n Roses concert. Last Monday night took my daughter with a heroin overdose and they would not let me in the triage room until after the performed a "work up" whatever that is. (A possible nude rundown). Received a letter of apology from St. Clair Hospital, Mt. Lebanon PA for an Emergency Department complaint. The Patient Representative apologized for the communication issues we experienced with the attending Physician. It is your typical pathetic response from the Medical Profession. In my opinion there was no communication issue due to there being no honest attempt by the Attending ED Physician to listen to all of the patient's symptons, which drastically changed during the hours the patient was in their care. No empathy, compassion, no time given to a full exam for possible concussion or worse. In other words there was no respect for the patient worries and concerns. Sad, so sad that when you are older and retired that this type of 'Care' occurs too too often. St Clair Hospital needs to do better. We will never use St. Clair Hospiral Services again. My daughter was transferred to ER from med express because they feared appendicitis at 2 pm in the afternoon. The woman at the er took her paperwork and had her sit in the waiting room. Over two and a half hours later she was still sitting there in severe pain. I called the ER and the person who answered asked me was she at St Clair? In Mt Lebanon? They didn't even have her listed. They asked me to hold on. I said ok. Someone gets back on the phone after a few minutes. So I start telling him what I told the first person. This was the nurse in charge, Kyle, and he was utterly cold and heartless. He asked me, just like the first person, if she was at St Clair hospital. To which I replied yes. He asked did she register? "Yes, med express sent her over and the lady at the desk had her paperwork." He told me "it doesn't matter if they were sent from their PCP or Med Express or wherever. They are triaged accordingly." "we have 50 people in the back and twenty more waiting in the waiting room." Yet, he couldn't find her name anywhere, not even anyone with her last name which is not an uncommon name. He said he didn't see anyone with her last name which is not an uncommon name. I am beyond frustrated and told him, "then you guys screwed up. You need to find her." He refused to even acknowledge that they could've screwed up. I told him it's been over two hours and she is in severe pain. His response? "I'm sure everyone in the waiting room is in pain. People don't come to the emergency room just..." I can't remember what he said after just because I could not believe my ears at the condescending tone he used. I started off this conversation very nicely but he is a nightmare. I've never dealt with someone so horrific. How does Kyle even have a job?!?!?! And as the nurse in charge?!?! I called my daughter back and told her to go to that desk and tell them she is in pain and find out what is going on because Kyle said she is not there. Even that lady asked if she registered. After looking through some papers, my daughter was miraculously "found". shortly thereafter she was called back. DO NOT EVER GO HERE IN AN EMERGENCY!!! I went to St Clair under severe pain from my Dystonia (Uncontrolled body movements) they gave me a shot of Benydrel and Valeum which knocked me out for a few hours. As soon as I woke up the attending physcian noticed I woke up she stated "Oh good You can go home now. There was no discusion with me. Shotly after I woke up the movement and pain returned and i informed the doctor of this and she statedthere is nothing more that she can do and discharged me against my will and she left followed up with a male charge nurse with a wheel chair who told me with an attitude I had no cHoice. Then the charge nurse presented a 72 hour Phys evaluation in a very nergative manner which looking back on I ask if I should have taken it? St. Clair Hospital is horrible. I delivered Twins there and for months now I've been fighting with my insurance company and St. Clair Hospital about the bills. For some reason when I had my twins, they only submitted one twin to be covered under my insurance. The other twin was not covered. I have been fighting with my insurance and st Clair hospital to cover the other twin for eight months now ! If I could give zero stars, I would. I blame the billing department at St Clair for this monumental screw up. Avoid this hospital AT ALL COSTS. My sister was admitted a few days ago for severe dehydration and starvation from chronic vomiting and they gave her an antipsychotic drug to treat her nausea. Today, she began to have parkinson-like muscle spasms and contortions of her extremities. Three nurses were called in repeatedly over the course of 6 hours, and they all scratched their heads and said "hmm, that's weird!", the doctor was apparently informed of these symptoms and did not come in until 8 hours after the initial symptoms. It turns out she had a severe (but common) reaction to the drug they have been giving her, and delayed treatment can cause irreversible damage. This hospital is negligent. read more

I went in last night with what I was afraid of as heart issues. I told them I had shortness of breath, headaches, dizziness and chest pain. I was told to sit down till there was a room available. I never went through got looked at for a thing. I sat there from 9 pm to 12:30 am. I asked if they even had my name on the list. I was told I was down for weakness. Thats not what I came in for. Worst billing department ever. I made a payment plan with them only to find out that for my !one! visit there, they made me three separate accounts! So, while I was making timely payments on my account according to my payment plan I have a voice recording of with their billing department, my other two accounts were unknowingly past due and sent to collections! Also, they wrongly sent me to collections DURING THE COVID LOCKDOWN!!!! And I have been a medical biller for 20 years and own a medical billing company - I know what I'm talking about! Yes, the sleep center there has nice staff but, everything after I walked out of the hospital has been an absolute nightmare - none of my family are ever allowed to go there again. My wife was hospitalized at St Clair in November. No complaints about the quality of care except at checkout when she was hurriedly discharged without much information on follow-up care. Doctors appeared infrequently and sometimes gave inconsistent information. But the worst part about this hospital is their absolute indifference to patients' concerns. Specifically, we have tried to obtain my wife's medical records for 12 days. Their online tool, Followmyhealth is complex and does not work. We have called St. Clair; no one answers the phone. We have left messages; no one returns our call. We have mailed in a document specifically requesting my wife's medical records. No response. By contrast, UPMC's MyChart is superior and very easy to use. The bottom line is, once my wife was discharged, no one cared. No one answers the phone, their online tool is complicated and unworkable, they don't return phone calls, they don't respond to mail. Pretty awful. read more

Recent ER visit was less than desirable. Presented via ambulance with ankle fracture . No vital signs taken , not once did a nurse look at my ankle to assess circulation, swelling or pulses . PA was first to assess this . No ice applied til after splinted. Given crutches and sent out the door. No assessment as to safety using these. Given scrip for narcotic pain med but never signed by practitioner . If I ever need an ER again this will not be my first choice .
