Had a great time with Mackenzie and John on our two tank dive Sunday (8/24). Bluewater was recommended to us by the Neptune dive shop after Neptune cancelled our dives due to inclement weather, Bluewater's boat is better suited for choppy water. Cpt. John put us on two great reefs and we were in the water in no time. Mackenzie was knowledgeable and attentive and kept a keen eye out for interesting sea life during our dives. This included a dolphin, sharks, eels, and many other sea creatures. Overall, John and Mackenzie made my wife and I, as well as 4 other divers of varying experience feel safe and welcome. Did a night dive along the pier; all other divers were rookies, which I'm sure took most of the dive master's attention. Very centered on safety which I appreciated and necessary with this group.However, I was frustrated that we departed and hour later than stated ( which I just had to sit around for, as well as my husband who was not diving) and our dive time total was 40 min, which includes waiting for the rookies to drop down and time at the end trying to stand up. saw lots of turtles but nothing else was pointed out that I could see. read more

First time diver here! Yes yes yes, do this! Highlight of our trip! We did the first part of the Discover Scuba in the shallow part of the water. Then after lunch we went further along the pier. We saw sea horses, lobster and a sea turtle. Our instructor was amazing, patient and attentive. Tip: If you get cold easily, where the wet suit If you have hearing loss or any other medical issue you will need to bring a doctor's note. Bring an underwater camera. (Practice before you dive.) It's amazing! Don't drink booze or anything carbonated before diving. Go to Polly's for lunch! read more

So now I have dives the West and the East sides of the island and both have their fortes, but this morning was the East side and I have to admit that the boat dive at Turquoise Bay and WAPA have to be in my Top 6 EVER. The Captain and the Divemaster were excellent. Very knowledgeable yet not overbearing. Diving on the West, they cater the large diver a little bit more but the East is a traditional boat dive. Torquing Bay was 5 reed sharks, 4 turtles and a sting ray. WAPA was more reef sharks, barracuda a baby eel and... A Pod of DOLPHINS!!! Captain tracked them down and gave us a free swim with them which was unexpected and awesome. Visibility has been a tad murky but I think that's because of the recent rain. Water is a steady 78-80 everyday so no need for shorty unless your cold blooded. At either shop, if you are driving, come early and call the shop so they can tell you where to park because street parking does fill quickly. They also have a luminescent night dive around the new moon which I am planning on doing and if you dive 5, 6th dive is free. Definitely a well run shop and look forward to using them as my go to boat dive shop. read more

can't give more stars, or a better review. Last vacation before daughter left for college and the team at SCUBA took excellent care of us. From the intro email asking for details, to the last dive day playing with shark, the crew was top-notch. Two night dives pointed out all the cool critters on the dock from manta ray, skates, sea horses, octopus (our personal favorite) to varied shrimp and lobster. When we asked for a "shark dive", Sim was on it! We saw four little reef shark that kept us company for the whole dive, with a hefty nurse shark making an appearance. the DMs knew their reefs, the boat had great service, and the shop really just did a fabulous job with our family and other guests. read more

First time diving and I am so happy that it was with S.C.U.B.A. I was nervous at first since my trip was so short, but speaking to Erin they were able to squeeze all my training into 2 days so I was able to leave PADI certified! My instructor Day 1 was Chris, hes very knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable right off the bat. When I did my first dive he made it a point to point out all the super cool marine life (turtles, small shrimps, fish eggs). My instructor Day 2 was Curtis, he was also very knowledgeable and gave me a lot of feedback which I appreciated very much. Both instructors were awesome and you can tell cared about the ocean life and making sure I was safe and comfortable with diving. The day after being certified, I scheduled a morning dive with S.C.U.B.A. and all my training came together. Absolutely top notch dive charter, crew, and experience. It was our first time in St. Croix and had to sneak in at least one dive day, and SO glad we did. The shop was right by the boat, and check in was quick and easy, and the shop staff was super friendly. Our captain Brian and guide Sim were totally awesome from start to finish. Super friendly, above and beyond helpful and accommodating, and just great people. As an instructor on vacation, it was nice being taken care of as they did for us. Sim set up our gear for both dives, pointed out some fantastic fish, culled an invasive lionfish, and was a super safe yet non-invasive guide. The dives were both great, but the second drop on Turtle Airport was a top 10 dive for me! We had well over a dozen individual green and hawksbill turtles around us the entire dive! Every time you turned around there was another! And so many reef sharks! At one point there were 3 circling. Not to much like watching two turtles together and a fat reef shark swimming right over them to check you out. Brian held our tanks as we stood and got in the water, and then helped us back to our seats. As soon as we sat he handed us glasses of water, which was unexpected and totally considerate. He also had fresh cut pineapple ready when we were finished with our dives. The considerate details by the crew really took this already great charter to the next level. 10/10 would recommend and will definitely be planning a longer trip for more dives with SCUBA soon. What a wonderful experience! What a wonderful crew! We spent our Christmas and New Year vacation time in St Croix, USVI - we fell in love with the peacefulness of the island and the friendly people who reside there. St Croix Ultimate Bluewater Adventures (S.C.U.B.A.) was the highlight of the trip, supported by fantastic diving conditions. First two dives were with Dive crewman: Simeon, and Captain Cory, under the "Discover Scuba" diving session. It starts with a morning of learning basic scuba skills and then two dives from the boat. It was such a great experience - I was hooked - and, dove (pun intended) straight into my on-line certification courses. Next four dives took place on a Tuesday and Thursday following my completion of the e-learning on-line courses and testing (those took me 3 mornings to complete around other vacationing events). My Dive Master for the certification testing and dives was Patti Stewart. She is an awesome instructor. Scuba life is good when you know you are in good hands - she didn't skimp on ensuring I knew what I needed to know to keep me safe. And, she did so in a calm and encouraging manner to keep my focus on success. Wow! Was I fortunate - great instructors and the weather and water conditions were optimum. Feeling blessed and accomplished! We took this vacation with two advanced divers (who have dived all over the World and) who also used S.C.U.B.A. for their diving adventures whilst I was in my instructional sessions. After hours, sitting poolside under the starry night sky, they stated more than once: "This is by far the best diving crew we've ever encountered." Did a 2-tank dive with the shop out of Christiansted. The shop staff and boat crew were fantastic. The divemaster and boat captain's service on the boat was fantastic. They set up our gear for us, swapped out tanks, and ensured we entered / exited the water safely. The divemaster did a great job of pointing out critters of interest. My only complaint would be I wish we had more than 45 minutes in the water. An hour would be better! read more

The dive shop canceled my dive when I was already at the dive shop. This ruined one whole day of my trip. The reason they canceled my dive was that they thought there was not enough time before my flight at the last minute. But I already told them my flight schedule when I booked the dive and they said it was fine. My flight was 9:30 a.m. in the morning the next day and the dive was 1 p.m. in the afternoon. I thought the dive would be done by 3:30 p.m. and that would leave me 18 hours before my flight. I mentioned about my flight schedule to the dive shop when I booked the dive and the dive shop agreed me on this. But when I went to the dive shop and tried all the gears, they said I could not dive because there was not enough time for me to rest for the next flight. I mentioned I could change my flight after they denied me on the boat, but they said no. I offered to just take one dive which only requires 12 hours before a flight but they still refused me. Besides the cancelation, the boat was super crowded and the distance between people on the boat is much less than 6 feet which is against the 6-feet rule to avoid spreading Covid. This makes me uncomfortable. In addition, the employees did not wear masks when they gave me gears to try on. What is more, the gears were pretty old and they did not have fins to fit my feet. I wear size 7.5 shoes. But they gave me size 4-5 fins because the next size they have is 8-9 which is too loose. I could not even extend my feet straight in the fins. The Cane Bay dive shop I went to three days ago had much better gears. Really love the beautiful St. Croix, but the experience with the dive shop is frustrating. read more

LOVED THIS CREW!! One of our best dive experiences ever! Captain Matt & Dive Master Mark were awesome! They were knowledgeable about the area, FUN, and took us to great dive spots. Our first dive was a wall (Knob Knoll) and our second dive was a reef (Turquoise Bay). Both amazing - We saw sharks, lion fish, and turtles. The crew was incredible. The gear was all in GREAT SHAPE. We didn't bring anything with us, which is unusual for us, so we used their masks, BCs and regulators. Everything was in fantastic working condition. The captain was knowledgeable about the area, sharing GREAT information about the dive spots and the ice cold beer on our way back hit the spot. I stopped by the Scuba Boutique to see their selection of Crocs and found a LOT more than just shoes! They have a friendly and attentive staff that was ready to assist me if I needed it but not so pushy that I felt like I was being followed around the store. They carry anything you need to go for a snorkel or a dive plus a lot of casual men's and women's clothes too. I like that they carry the Columbia brand. This was my first attempt at ocean diving. I have been certified but never taken the plunge. First day didn't go well, my ears wouldn't equalize. I stayed in the boat and my son went on the dive. He had a good time and encouraged me to try the next day. We did the wreck dives on the west side day two. When we arrived I spoke to Mike the dive master and he promised we would go slow and see how the ears did. If ok great if not he would bring me back up. He kept his promise. We did a lot of drop and rise but finally I was able to take off. Greg the captain was also encouraging. We weren't rushed and I enjoyed every minute. If we return to St Croix, this is were we will dive and I would request Mike and Greg if possible. Thanks so much for making my first dive full of GOOD memories. read more

The management works hard to do a lot right. The boat captains deserve raises and awards for above and beyond service. Unfortunately the Dive guides are hit or miss with their actions. Onboard they are on top of their game, equipment was all carefully prepared for each dive and they answered all questions and were easy to talk with. But they were lackadaisical once in the water. (If you are a beginner, advanced beginner or only dive once a year, they need to pay better attention and check in with the divers.) Buoyancy and making sure everyone is okay on initial descent are very necessary and were not done! One member of our party had to abort the dive as he descended and didn't see the group so he resurfaced and went back to the boat. The guides had no clue that one of the divers wasn't in the group-scary! They failed to check in with each diver if they were ok or how much air they had. If you are an experienced diver or dive routinely this is no problem, but for divers who only get to dive once a year not so much. I will say once Management was made aware they immediately spoke with the guides and there was some improvement in their actions later in the week. read more

Diving was fine. After our dive we were taken to the other dive shop where they said a taxi would take us back to our vehicle. Over 2 hours and still no taxi. Ridiculous!! Everyone onboard is sitting on the sidewalk waiting. Some have a night dive. If you own a business you should take care of your patrons. #1. read more

Capt. Ed and Molly are the best. They will bend over backwards to accommodate every request you have as well as make up for unforeseen weather issues. All the DMs are great people, knowledgeable, and fun. Big shout out to Collier for teaching my whole family at discover scuba. He had phenomenal patience with my parents who are in their 70s and are not water people. Afterwards he convinced my lil girl to go diving with us on the boat. It was great, now she can't wait to get certified. Captain John was awesome with her and made her laugh and feel welcome and at ease. Which she needed for her first time. We did the tourist course in our hotel pool with Kristen. She was great with first timers explaining everything we needed to know and having us practice it and show her in the pool. We did the 2 tank dive later that day in the ocean! Boat captain Ryan was funny and very helpful, Kristen took us down and showed us turtles sharks,scorpion fish as well as the other various fish around the reefs. Highly recommend them! read more

I will start by THANKING Ed, Greg and Cory! We had an incredible week diving with Greg and Cory! I contacted Ed (owner) a few weeks before our trip to St. Croix in regards to a week full of dives that we wanted to have, but over all and most importantly, I was enlisting his help and his divecrew's help, on my underwater proposal. Greg and Cory helped all along to make this trip incredible and memorable. Not only did they help me by prepping, filming, but they made it happened, just as I imagine on the right place to propose to my partner. They made it so special by also having Greg's wife and Cory's girlfriend join us, on this special day. It was an incredible dive that I will always remember! For the next several days we did a few more dives. We did dives off ship wrecks deep and shallow - they were awesome! We also did a few coral dives and those were awesome as well. From sharks to rays to turtle and the unexpected lionfish here and there. Captain Greg and Cory were very knowledgeable of the areas we were diving. Safety at the highest priority, very attentive and very cordial. Greg has an amazing talent on cutting pineapples which he had one cut up once we came out off the last dives. Cory was very attentive to our safety, getting in and out of the water. He was very patient during the whole dive if we took longer to equalize. Was quick at point out great stuff underwater and an awesome guide! I can't stress enough how thankful I am for Greg and Cory's kindness and professionalism at its highest levels. And so thankful for the help and assistance in making my proposal picture perfect! Do not think twice in hiring SCUBA for your next dive trip. They own two large boats, on two opposite sides of the island so you get the opportunity to dive out off two beautiful parts of the island. If Greg and Cory are available I would recommend to request them two - they make a great team together. I have to say that I left this beautiful island engaged and with some amazing new friends! I completed my SCUBA diver certification with them this past week. My instructor and divemaster was Erica. She was patient, thorough and primarily concerned with assuring safety. On my first open water dive, the surf was higher than I was comfortable with (being a complete newby). Erica arranged that I go again to complete my open water dives from Frederiksted (MUCH calmer waters) rather than from Christiansted. On the original dive, there was a 10 or 11 year old girl along - Erica stayed right by her side to assure that she had an enjoyable and safe Discover SCUBA experience. SHORT REVIEW: This is probably the best dive shop on St. Croix for service, knowledge, operations, safety, and friendliness. I dove with them 15 times for a week and a half. As a professional diver, I strongly recommend this shop. LONG REVIEW: I spent 10 days on St. Croix from January 23 to February 2, 2012 for vacation. This was a diving vacation, so I placed a heavy emphasis on finding the right dive shop. After many weeks of research on PADI.com, Scuba Diving forums, and word-of-mouth, it came down to this shop and Dive Experience. To be honest, location was also an issue, since we were staying in a villa on the east end and Christensted was the closest city/town. From the start, I found SCUBA's timely and professional responses to my email inquiries a solid positive. I also liked thier dive boat better (two-level), and their website is more professional. Finally, the most important criteria: Price. I found SCUBA's prices consistent with all other dive shops on St. Croix. No dive shop on the island is noticeably more or less price-wise, but they do vary greatly in all the other areas (services, reputation, etc.). My CV: I am a professional diver (divemaster cert) with 5 years of cold water (ice) low to zero viz experience. All of my gear is professional grade and paid for by my employer. I spend most of my professional dive time looking for drowning victims and salvage. I have worked with dozens of dive operators around the world. When I vacation, I come to the caribbean (Grand Cayman, Curacao, and now St Croix) to relax in warm water with lots of cool things to enjoy. I'm not trying to toot my horn, just saying I speak from experience- that's all. I visited other dive shops during my stay on the island and found them to be far less professional, smaller, and not as engaged as SCUBA. We dove all of the north shore locations, including Cane Bay Wall (you need to request this at least a day in advance. It's a long boat ride and not economical for the shop unless the boat is at least half full), Salt River west wall, east wall, Jason's anchors, Blue Chute, Chez Barge, Eagle Ray, Japanese Gardens, Sleeping Shark, and a few others I forget. We were forced to do a few repeats on different days due to the crazy wind and some broken moorings. We drove over to Frederiksted one night to do a night dive under the pier, and I cannot recommend this dive enough. Super super cool for underwater nightlife. Blue Moon Restaurant across the street is also good for a post dive drink and chow. I think this dive is only done when the cruise ships have departed, which is another huge plus (the town will be deserted just for you!). Unfortunately, the weather during our entire stay was not cooperative. It was very windy, unseasonably cold (by caribbean standards. mid-70's) and rainy at times. Visibility was a paltry 30 to 75', which I understand is pretty weak for St. Croix. We were really rocked in the boat at times, and wrestling gear and getting into the boat were all challenges. I never once saw any member of the crew lose his cool or get frustrated. Of course, the weather broke on our last day (*sigh* oh well). Our divemasters and boat captains were all professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. My tanks were always swapped quickly and properly, and my gear was always ready the next day rinsed and dried, ready on the boat. Fresh pineapple awaited us after every dive, and I never found anything lacking on the boat (fresh water rinses, water buckets, etc.). One of the divemasters, Daniel Dulgar, even took extensive photos and video of our diving and encounters. On a $25 DVD, he had hundreds of professional grade photos and video ready for us on our last day. He was also very generous with his time and knowledge on underwater photo equipment tips and techniques. Amazing! I admit, I get a little irritated with novice divers crashing a dive trip that has experienced divers (yes, I know. I was once one myself. But, I'm paying a lot of money to get going and not cut anything short due to "flailing."). SCUBA had this all handled by splitting our dive with two divemasters: one for the novices, one for the impatient jerks like me. This seems to be a rare service by most operators these days. Most shops are trying to save money, and so everyone goes out with one divemaster, then we all come back in an abbreviated time due to the novices sucking air too quick. SCUBA didn't let this happen, and I certainly noticed. Well done! The dive shop itself is very well stocked with all the tourist things you're going to want: great selection of clothing, hats and other trinkets. There's a full compliment of BCs, regulators, computers, etc. in the shop too, in case you need something new and shiny. The girls running the shop are funny and friendly, and they seemed to genuinely want to make sure I was happy with my souvenirs. I wasn't just a big fat Mastercard to them. This is the ONLY dive shop on St Croix for me. read more

There are a few shops in town which offer access to the underwater paradise around St. Croix, but these people are some of the friendliest and most accommodating folks you can find. No matter which boat you're on you'll find they're solicitous and courteous to a fault, well-trained and experienced divers all. You can't guarantee what you'll get to see on a typical excursion, but let's just be forthright about it -- these guys are gonna show you a lot of sharks. Also, the night dive off the Fredriksted pier is seminal, do not miss it. read more

Awesome customer service...or I should say genuine! Molly and crew definitely make sure you have a great experience whether its your first dive for 50th. I did a DSD over labor day '11, Lauren was our instructor. She was patient and really made sure that we were comfortable, even though I and had some inhibitions that I thought was going to prevent me from diving again. Next trip down in February we worked with Lauren again, and Molly gave us several options for boat trips/sites to make things go smoothly. Can't wait to get certified with them next time I go to STX. You can really tell when people are passionate about what they do and it certainly shows at SCUBA! read more

Their slogan doesn't lie - they are indeed very friendly. It was our first dive, and our instructor, Olivia, was very personable and patient, especially when my wife had trouble equalizing ear pressure during the descent. They had fruit snacks all cut up and waiting upon surfacing from the first dive, and offered us a beer after the second and final dive (note that they did not drink themselves - VERY professional). There was another guest diver on the boat - after the end of the dive we overheard him complimenting the crew, saying that after 117 dives, he had never seen a crew take such good care of his gear. Overall, the crew really treated us like human beings having an experience instead of ignorant tourists. I will probably dive a second time with these people before leaving the island.
