There were reduced fare for children and veterans with an added charge for bicycles. Parking in their lot is an additional $15 per car, we left our car at the hotel, Schleppers does all kinds of boat rides and even hosts weddings on their fleet of ferries. They are family owned & operated for over 76 years, and offer the fastest ferries to Mackinac Island. A ride was 16-minutes each way. We purchased our tickets from their website & they were scanned from our phone going in each direction. We sat upstairs, outdoors. There was seating outdoors. Our ferry was half full, there was a lot of extra seat. The highlight of our boat ride was going under the Mackinac Bridge.

I've been using Shepler's Ferry since I first started going to Mackinac Island annually jn 2018…read more Sheplers in St Ignace is the BEST!! I would rather spend $8 to cross the bridge twice than deal with the absolute chaos Mackinaw City can be. This ferry dock has always been carefree and less stressful. I really appreciate the large parking lot that can be used for day trips and overnight trips. Parking for the day is currently $15 for the 2025 season. However, I will take that convenience of getting in my vehicle seconds after leaving the ferry docks. The restrooms here are always spotless and I really appreciate the waiting area in case the weather is bad. I love the new enhanced boarding option with Sheplers ($12 extra per ticket to board early -- makes it easy with my two dogs) My only issue is there really needs to be better signage in the tent and extra employees. We recently had the enhanced boarding ticket and found the designated line, only to have an employee accuse of cutting the line due to her not paying attention and talking to a group of other employees. Made us feel humiliated in front of so many people. I look forward to coming back to Sheplers next year!

The balcony faced the lake for amazing sunrises and the side faced the outdoor heated pool and hot tub. We were there end of May beginning of June and the weather was high 60s/low 70s so the heated pool was so nice. The hot tub even nicer! The room was clean and spacious! The staff was amazing. So nice, accommodating. Bed was very comfortable but like all hotel rooms, the pillows were too soft for me. The room had a small fridge and microwave as well as a single cup coffee maker. The breakfast was good. Hot breakfast but still a hotel breakfast. Again, the staff so nice and accommodating! Always asking if you need anything. Each night there is a lakeside bonfire with s'mores! 5 min walk to the Sheplers ferry or if you tell the front desk, they will order you a shuttle so you don't have to pay the crazy prices!!!

Our economy room had two queen beds, a refrigerator, microwave with a terrace overlooking the pool. Our room was dated but very clean, quiet and sufficient for two nights. There was plenty of free parking. The motel was right on Lake Huron, the Straits of Mackinac. We are a five minute walk to the ferry to Mackinac Island. Breakfast was served until 10 o'clock in the morning. It was very busy with big groups of children under five and seniors; an interesting mix. There were three waffle makers with assorted toppings, coffee, frozen pastries, yogurt, biscuits & gravy, eggs & bacon. There was an indoor & an outdoor pool, coin operated washing machines, fitness center, nightly bonfire and playground on the premises. A golf cart shuttled seniors & children around the property.

I bought a gift card online to pay for my sons overnight parking as they were arriving after us. While the gift card says its good for all ferry rides it does say that it doesn't cover parking. They would not accept the gift card nor would they give me a refund for the card. As for parking, I paid the upgrade of $40/ day for 2 days. (I parked at 4PM Wednesday and left at 1PM on Friday which is less than 48 hours). They say that their overnight parking starts a midnight but its midnight of the DAY you parked. So, if you are on the last ferry and park at 7pm you have until midnight of the 2nd day. A time when they aren't even open. Since I didn't leave the parking lot till 1PM, I got a fine of an additional $80. When I disputed it with the company that runs the parking, they said that that is their policy and the fine was issued properly. In other words, though parking isn't by Arnolds, their partners parking fee structure is misleading and their customer service is unhelpful. I have been using Arnolds every year for the ferry but I will not longer use their service because of this.

First, the scanner at the boarding gate was broken, so we were told to go back to the ticket window. There, we waited over 20 minutes because the ticket printer was also broken. Instead of finding a timely solution, staff offered no assistance, no urgency, and no accountability--just blank stares and an attitude that made it clear they couldn't care less. Despite arriving early and doing everything right on our end, we missed the ferry entirely due to their technical failures and lack of customer service. Not one employee made an effort to ensure we could board or offered any real help. The system is broken--literally and figuratively--and the staff appear either untrained or unwilling to help when things go wrong.
