A BARBARIC experience. Not for the weak at heart. We were coerced into getting the baby induced by a nurse. The 2 rooms we stayed at were like refrigerators. Soooo freezing! The lighting too dark and creepy. We were told to stay longer due to baby might get jaundice. They even said the baby would probably be admitted to CHOC. When I said, "Call the police if you need to, this hospital is no place for a baby. We're going home." The head started angrily yelling at my daughter who got little sleep for 2 nights. They wanted us longer for $$$$. They are hurting for $$$$. It's been 5 months and just got a bogus bill. See how it says FOR BILLING ONLY. We never saw this doctor. I looked her up. I stayed one night at this hospital and was treated with excellence by all of the nurses and staff. Everyone was exceptionally caring and helpful. I am very grateful to everyone here.... I needed emergency treatment for my heart, hypertension, liver, leukemia, lupus anemia, kidney disease and fainting while driving due to illness.I came into the hospital that night because I fell asleep driving I needed immediate hospitalization. I requested to speak to the hospital Chaplin due to being a long term humble missionary because I was being rejected by the supervising nurse Emily due to my race. Our head missionary's death who was my mother had me also in mourning, My race seemed to be a problem for the head nurse Emily so to get rid of me, she angrily had me to drive to a church that she knew at that late hour of the night was closed and the parking lot empty. So I staggered back to the hospital with fainting spells with my blood pressure and heart rate extremely abnormal and was admitted with my Medicare insurance into the hospital. Well angry head nurse Emily found out so she sent two violent security guards to force me out of my bed while my fainting spell had me in a deep sleep. So I tried to stand and fell, so the other angry Mexican security officer said don't help her, so I humbly struggled to get on their wheelchair. I called the police to get help because I'm still humble but clueless. A tall white female supervisor came outside and approach the officers and told them a fabricated lie saying that I was passing out flyers all over the hospital. I was too sick to pass out flyers. I hope this review gets to the Chaplin and find out why he went along with this discrimination because he responded by saying I was never a patient in the hospital. read more

This hospital has the ability to be amazing. The doctors and nurses are great after you get passed the entrance of the ER. The entrance is slow and chaotic at best. If you're in a real emergency, you're going to be in trouble. 40 minutes waiting to even be looked at after being brought in by ambulance. An hour before I saw a room for exam. And coming in the front door!!! It's a big no for me. Everyone is sick and the emergencies are all one. If you've got a heart issue. There is no urgency in the "entrance" to get you in. Just get in line and take a seat. I left and went to another hospital that took me right in. Perfect staff. No security with metal detectors. Preview of the area it's in. Every test you need to be ran is done. Without hesitation. So I would go here if I got a cut or I was sick. I'm not giving medical advice. Their entire staff in that department/building are rude, mean, and not compassionate/understanding at all to patients. Once you complain about a staff member for being heavy-handed and rude to you, they will all mistreat you and will put you in a room that the doctor did not order for you. I won't even go into all the ways the ball was dropped after spine surgery. It would be a novel! Starting with me waking up and telling nurses I was choking and gesturing wildly. Before I actually passed out I hear a nurse say" maybe she needs a breathing treatment!" no ! then discharge instructions and nurse said to pull off my existing dressing the next day and wash it every day. I looked at it and it seemed stuck on pretty good. I called spine doctor and told them could they send a nurse for the daily cleaning? The nurse on the phone screamed" what are you talking about. you're not to touch that until your follow up appt" I said that's what I was told to do! there's more but that's enough. please be careful there and remember they aren't very competent.!!!! read more

I went to this hospital on July 26 to July 28 2026 Cause I was experiencing very excruciating abdominal pain on my right side of my belly Btw I was 21 weeks and 1 day pregnant at the time this visit and they had no idea why I was having very excruciating pain on my right side They poked me with needles ( alot of them ) I hate needles And they did a lot of tests and found nothing wrong But when I was experiencing my excruciating pain on my right side of my belly I would shake uncontrollably and scream very loud saying I hate this pain I never experienced this kind of pain before & It hurts so bad I started to cry uncontrollably alot every time I do this my partner will have to hold my body cause i was shaking uncontrollably they said it looked like I was having a seizure they kept giving me meds thru a iv and it happened every hour and it's still happening tofdy I have no idea what's wrong with me then a week later since I got discharged from the hospital I got a call from a the labor and delivery nurse saying she has very important news to tell And all this time I thought I was just having 1 baby girl cause all of the ultrasounds they only heard one baby and only saw ,1 but let me tell you when I was at my first ultrasound with doctor M. Forhani in Santa Ana he was doing a ultrasound that he thought he saw 2 babies on the ultrasound ( btw my partner recorded that ultrasound so we have proof on video ) but then he moved his mouse then he says no it's just one baby and so the nurse told me this last Sunday that the ultrasound test came she said I'm am expecting twins ,,( 2 baby girls ) I was shocked to hear this I even asked her why did this take this long to. Tell me she said their computer system was rebooting for a week so I'm the pain I wa having was just twins kicking me non stop and this is my first pregnancy as a first time mom and I'm no longer seeing forhani anymore he definitely lost me as a patient this time and any future pregnancy I have in the future ( so I'm trying to find a different hospital and obgyn doctor in Orange county) I wish I could give him a -10000 I never been treated this way by a doctor or a hospital !! I would like to start off this review by stating that this is not targeted towards the level of care that was provided by the medical staff during my stepfather's short stay in the hospital. This review addresses an encounter between a nurses aide and I during my father's stay. A little background for clarity. I come from a family of nurses. My wife, mother, and sister are all nurses. My father suffers from many ailments but most prominently from end stage Parkinson's Disease with all of its complications and related ailments. I have served as one of his primary caregivers since his diagnosis on 2017. My stepfather was admitted to the pulmonary/renal unit of the hospital after a brief stay in the emergency department on February 15, 2026 at approximately 20:00. The encounter occurred the next day February 16, 2026 at around 18:50. This was between me and a gentleman who I had yet to identify (name and position) at the time of the event. I had been waiting for the nurse (Lakiesha) for approximately 60-70mins at this time. I wanted to ask about how my father did during the 4-5hrs I was not there. The gentleman came in to empty the urine canister and even folded the blanket that was sitting on the chair. I proceeded to ask him if it was possible to let my father's nurse know that I had a question for her. The gentleman proceeded to tell me that he would be able to answer most questions himself. I was already hesitant because he was not familiar to me and I was not aware of him being a part of the care team. I respectfully told him that I would rather direct my questions towards his nurse. He insisted that I should ask him the question instead, after a back and forth (me insisting that I speak to the nurse and not him) I relented and asked him if my father could have ice chips. He then said "the doctors orders are NPO and patients are not allowed to have anything by mouth unless specified by the doctor even ice chips" he then proceeded to look at the computer that was in the room (which I assume had contained my father's chart) and said "the doctors orders do not seem to say that he can have ice chips and I advise not to give him any". The gentleman then walked over to me and asked "who are you anyway, are you the caregiver?" to which I replied "uhhhhh.... I'm his son". He then gestured to my father and then to me and said "I mean I had to ask since it's not obvious" (I assume he was referring to the fact that I was darker skinned and my father was caucasian). Fast forward to the next day, I spoke to Lisa (charge nurse for the day shift) to inform her of the happenings of the night previous. I gave her a description of the gentleman (I was not able to clearly see his name on his badge). She left the room in an effort to identify the person based on the detailed description I provided along with the staff that worked the day before. When she came back she told me that "I was able to identify the person and it was 100% Jaime, he's a nurses aide that has worked here for a long time". In conclusion, the major issue I had with this event is a matter of patient safety. Jaime overstepped his bounds and went beyond the scope of his duties to provide medical advice. I am not clear of his background or whether he has medical training or not. Either way, he was employed as a nurses aide and there is a line that is drawn to distinguish between roles to prevent miscommunication and protect patients. This hospital is my father's hospital and the values of Providence St. Josephs of Orange aligns either our own personal beliefs. We fully intend to bring my father back here for future treatments and emergencies. This is why I want to make sure that the staff is properly trained and well aware of the scope of theirs duties and the boundaries of said duties. I am an advocate for patient safety and an individual who has no business giving medical advice clearly struck a cord with me. My concern is if this had happened to someone who was not as informed as I am then what could have come from the advice that he put forward. Also, does the question of a family member carry more weight than the question pf a caregiver? Finally, i am not fully aware of the intricacies of HIPAA but i assume that the scope of duties that revolve around a patients aide does not permit him access to the information on my father's chart. The encounter showed a lack of training and compassion that I expected from that particular staff member. I do not judge the hospital for the actions of a singular individual but this review serves as a reminder to be vigilant and also to inform management of the situation. **Labor and Delivery Review** We delivered our baby girl on 12/3/2025 at 2:56 pm and this review is for the entire labor and delivery staff. My husband and I had such a great experience, especially from our awesome nurse Ally. From the very beginning she made me feel like I was in safe hands with my delivery and the plan, which couldn't have gone better. Ally made our last delivery such a great experience that we already miss her. Our delivery doctor was also so amazing Dr. Gelareh R. Nikpour-Heravi she was very gentle and had very good bed side manners. We are over the moon and so thankful for all the staff for helping us bring our last little blessing into this world. i had back surgery and told the anesthesiologist ,drs name i do not recall ,that i was allergic to ketamine. he used it anyways, because he said he liked it ! It was on my chart and on my wrist and told to him in front of 3 nurses, i did no not come out of the surgery completely, on the second day for the rest of the surgery i had a grand mal-seziure for 52 minutes, which is unheard of and broke any records known to man kind, i do not recommend that hospital for that reason, also after not remembering being there for 12 days they sent me to hoag hospital for recovery for another 15 days, I now have severe memory issues and pain. I did not know my own name and did not know my usband of 50 years. my whole family was very upset and even thought i was going to die while on a ventilator. Go to Hoag !!! read more

I was brought into the ED 9/2025 and while waiting for a CT scan a nurse took off my earrings and necklace ( which was an heirloom from my mother) and they just sent me a letter stating that they are not responsible for it. I had my eyes close the enitire time when the nurse took it off of me before taking me to CT scan so i wasnt able to see who it was. None of the nurses introduced themselves to me and they were talking about their personal lives while I had my eyes closed on a gurney in the hallway. The care was mediocre, the nurses were unprofessional and no accountability in the hospitals part for the lost items which was not my fault but taken off by their own nurse. Don't go to this hospital/ED if you can help it. This place here has absolutely no accountability for their errors and will just send you a letter basically stating to eat it because we won't do anything about it. Hope this will be helpful so you won't have to eat it when you lose something precious and priceless while absolutely receiving mediocre care from people who don't care at all. I was transferred to Kaiser Permanente after and the care I received there was excellent and you can feel that the staff actually gives a damn about you as a patient. read more

I can not believe I am writing a review to the hospital I wanted to work for & had much respect for. Work ethic, integrity, & humanity were not present from the time of my mom's stay. There was no Christian. Nurses are rude! I asked for the result of an xray & nurse stated it was clear & I get a call from my doctor there is fluid in her lungs and the report was sent early this morning, which means nurse should have an accurate answer. These nurses are CERTIFIED RN who are BSN grad! We are struggling with oxygen status. After the procedure, the nurse did not bother to have her back on oxygen. Her level was at 81%. If I do not stay here, my mom would die. (piece of advice if your love one has to stay especially overnight, be sure to be nearby or you might not see him/her again). read more

And June for being the sweetest to a patient who mentally struggled to trust medical professionals after she had a septic shock at USC surgery (from getting infected after surgery) and given an apology by a USC student doctor when she was unstable. I got to say that the experience at the St. Hospitals (Jude and Joseph) had less complications than any trips to USC hospital. It genuinely feels like heartwarming to see patients being treated as a a human and not as a paycheck/clinical hours. Big shoutout to Hannah (Pre-Op) as she is an exemplary model on how all medical staffs should treat older patients. This is THE WORST hospital. You could come in with serious injuries, on the brink of death & your wait time would still be 2+ hours. Nothing here is an emergency. They take nothing serious & always tell you the same scripted line when you ask about wait times. The staff at the window in the second waiting area just sit around on their phones & come walking in with food, they catch an attitude if you have any questions & wont open the window to let you speak to them even if you've been standing there for minutes. So many people leave without getting the medical help they need bc of how awful, the staff & wait times are. Avoid this ER/Hospital at all costs. read more

Then she told me that I was supposed to wear it. Well no sh!t. I was here all yesterday and the sticker lost its stickiness. I told her that I was here all yesterday afternoon. Then she told me like it was common knowledge, well just come back here and get a new one. First of all the fukn sticker is the lest of my worries. Maybe give a different color bracelet, they give one for patients, why not one for their visitor and have the same barcode that has just the patient's last name , first name then the staff can look up the patient and see where they are at. It is my opinion that I have been greatly harmed by St. Joseph's treatment of me, both during and after my first pregnancy.. During my first pregnancy, I asked my doctor at St. Joseph's for an elective c-section multiple times due to personal/family medical history. My doctor denied my requests, telling me and my husband that I was not allowed an elective c-section due to the policies of the hospital and/or her "board". My husband and I also happened to need to go to St. Joseph's L&D triage multiple times during this pregnancy. While at the triage, I expressed my desire for an elective c-section to multiple L&D nurses, explaining to them that my doctor told me that the hospital did not allow them. On all of these numerous occasions, the triage nurse affirmed that I had no choice but to attempt a vaginal birth. Since I believed my St. Joseph's doctor and nurses' statements that I would not be allowed an elective c-section, I consented to an induction of labor and gave birth vaginally. The same doctor who told me I was not allowed an elective c-section delivered my baby and classified my tears as just 2nd degree. Unfortunately, I believe that her 2nd degree classification was inaccurate. I believe this because, after the birth of this second child, I was diagnosed with a severe 3rd degree tear. The delivering physician said that I had likely torn to 3rd degree in my first birth (at St. Joseph's) as well based on my pre-existing scar tissue, which would mean that my doctor at St. Joseph's had underclassified my tear. Such an underclassification would be particularly unfortunate, as I believe it prevented me from receiving the c-section that I had vehemently requested for my second birth. This likely reinjury of my genital region remains severe, causing me life-changing issues, such as fecal incontinence. Doctors have also cautioned me about ever carrying our long-intended third child, which my husband and I find devastating. I reported this suspected underclassification to St. Joseph's, telling them I believed that it was precipitated by their supposed elective c-section ban. I was given a meeting with St. Joseph's L&D leadership. The rest of this paragraph is how I recall this meeting, and the aftermath of this meeting, taking place: I was informed by L&D leadership that St. Joseph's has no elective c-section ban and that I should not have been denied an elective c-section. However, the leadership acknowledged that they do require a low c-section rate to receive full financial benefits, a policy which I believe could put pressure on doctors to minimize their personal c-section rates. Leadership did not offer to address my doctor's conduct, saying that they were only in charge of the nursing staff. When I explained that the nursing staff had also upheld the doctor's claims about an elective c-section ban, they said that this was impossible because their nursing staff has zero shortcomings, both in following hospital policy and in upholding personal veracity. They further declared that I should be "grateful" because they were "doing a lot for me" by having this meeting, a comment that I found dehumanizing and absurd given that, in my opinion, the actions of their staff had left me permanently damaged. They ended the meeting by telling me that they would try to set up conversations between me and medical staff leadership to discuss consequences/training for my former doctor, as well as keep me updated on additional training that they planned for their nurses. They never followed up with me on any of these matters and, when I followed up with them, they denied having offered to address my concerns in these manners. These experiences with L&D leadership left me feeling even more abused and violated. I feel that what happened to me reflects systemic issues in the hospital culture. That is, I feel that St. Joseph's cares more about keeping their c-section rates low than they do the dignity and long-term health outcomes of their pregnant patients. read more

I was driven to this hospital by EMTs with severe lower back spasms later determined to be bulging L3-L5 discs, extremely painful pressing on my spinal nerves. The pain is paralyzing. I was admitted to the ER where the head ER nurse, a male Latino, immediately started hassling me saying he needs my bed for other patients. He told me to get off the bed and leave before even seeing a doctor, several times. He was the rudest POS I have ever met. It was clear he had a racial bias against me for being the only white person in the ER, English speaking and likely only one with insurance. I demanded to see a doctor before leaving. Finally, a doctor examined my back using X-Rays, said it's likely bulging discs but an MRI is needed to confirm. Fortunately, it was not ruptured discs which could have permanently damaged my back had the POS Latino nurse forced me to walk out without examination. The doctor helped me into a wheel chair to leave the hospital while the POS Latino nurse just glared at me. This hospital is a disgrace. read more

I personally have had a great experience with st joseph ER and pavilion. my dad needed a short stay outpatient surgery. He was very nervous but everyone was very nice and honest with him. answered all his questions.(plus a hot doc doesnt hurt. ha ha) they had great communication with us and his surgery was done in 45 minutes! place is huge you can easily get lost. my dad did great in the post op area. they even gave him a hot fresh delicious meal. (their menu was huge) I def appeciate their niceness and hospitality. although it is freezing inside and outside. St Joseph is always the place to go! read more

I had my second delivery at St Joseph. The check in process was fast And they made it as easy as possible (tolerable for someone that was already in labor). I asked to be assigned to a L&D nurse that was natural delivery friendly and they didn't disappoint. Liz helped me figure out hire to move around and made sure I didn't feel bad about choices I was making for my delivery even if it was against medical advice. Then Sherri took over and that girl was my rock for the rockiest part of my delivery. She told me to give her a look if anyone was making me uncomfortable and she would take care of things. She made me feel so safe. I was having horrible back labor and she showed my husband how to help me with counter pressure and she helped position me to help the baby move. She was so encouraging even though I wanted to give up so many times between contractions. I was so exhausted and she kept cheering me on and telling me I was doing it! Then all the stars were lined up when Dr Bignami was the OB on staff for delivery at the time. She walked in and asked if she could check me and then told me if I was ready to deliver my baby. I was so exhausted from all the pain and that was music to my ear. She gave me detailed instructions and then cheered me on to go for it on contractions. She told me I had to only push three more times and it would be all over. She knew exactly what I needed to hear. She was straight forward but encouraging when baby's heart rate was slowing down. She told me what I needed to do and I went for it. Baby's head came out but his shoulder got stuck on the way out and Dr Bignami called over Nicu as she released his arm so skillfully. All was well with baby and he cried right after and there was no nerve damage thanks to how she released the shoulder dystocia. I feel like she was an angel placed in the right place for us that day. They then asked for my permission to place an iv and give me an intramuscular injection of pitocin because I was bleeding a bit much. She numbed me and stitched me up as well (only first degree tear with an almost 9 lb baby). I had no pain after the numbing wore off later. I was so impressed with how everyone was so respectful of my wishes and they asked for my permission before anything was done. I felt so respected and in power. The whole experience still brings tears to my eyes. I really feel like I wouldn't have been able to go through with the delivery I wanted if it weren't for Sherri and Dr Bignami and also my poor husband pushing so hard on my hips with every contraction. Our experience in mother and baby was also great. Every nurse was so helpful and knowledgeable. The second night was a bit rough with the baby waking up so often in addition to all the checks they had to make on the baby and I for vitals and tests. I wish there was a way to get a bit more rest but I could tell the nurses were trying to give us as much rest as possible. If they came in and we were passed out they tried to give us a little more time. The only part that I wish was different was that I called for weeks to try to get the preservative free vitamin k in stock for my delivery but it was so hard to get information and then once I was transferred to the "buyer" at the internal pharmacy that could have made it happen no one bothered to call me back. I wish they would consider to carry the preservative free kind which is to the baby's benefit (Hoag Irvine only carried preservative free). Went in 5pm to the er. It's 941pm and we are still here. Was suffering from bleeding and was waiting in the lobby the entire time without getting a room. Will not be on my lair of Emergency rooms to go visit. Super busy and a long wait time for an emergency is terrible. When asked how many people or how much longer the wait may be. They were unable to give a number due to different reasons people were there. read more
