I had my first ever surgery/and anesthesia experience at this surgical center for septoplasty and I'm so grateful to the team that took care of me. My dr, surgical assistant, anesthesiologists, my pre-op nurses and after-op nurses all the way to the ladies in the front desks and everyone in the building are earth angels. God bless each and everyone of them. They took such good care of me and made me so relaxed, happy, and comfortable the entire time. I was pretty doped up after the surgery and took a while to come to, but I remember bits and pieces of my conversations with the nurses and they were oh so sweet and accommodating and checked in on me frequently. I would never ever recommend this place. I went in for a simple Tonsilectomy. A proccedure that is literally in and out. I ended up admitted to CHOC for almost 3 days. It started with me getting my IV inserted by a nurse. She did not even insert it where it should have been. She inserted it near my inner elbow, despite saying it is usually inserted into the hand, but brushed it off by saying "you aren't 18 yet so it's okay". Had trouble inserting it and getting blood to flow so she wiggled it around a bit till she got a vein and small flow. She didn't flush it either to make sure it was inserted properly which they should always do to confirm proper placement. I went in to surgery and they had wrapped me up like a little burrito to hold me together during surgery. When they pushed the propofol into my iv, they couldn't even see it since my arm was under the wrap! Instead of undoing it and making sure it wasn't leaking, an assistant stuck her hand under the wrap and PULLED MY IV??? It wasn't until after they had pushed the ENTIRE syringe of anasthetic into my arm that they realized it had leaked into the surrounding tissue. They unwrapped me and elevated my arm and proceeded to put a hot pack over where it had leaked. It felt like they were burning my arm with a hot curling iron. I started yelling and crying asking them to take it off and why they were doing that. They simply said it was a hot compression they needed to put. While they were panicking over my arm, another assistant had walked over to my left side and began to try to insert another IV 3 TIMES!! I was in pain and confused before being sedated despite the fact they never should have continued with the surgery. I woke up around an hour later with a chemical burn on my arm. They had told my father who was waiting outside in the lobby that i had woken up. When he asked how i was they had told him there was a "minor complication". Which obviously worries him. When he asked to see me, they told him no and didn't him see me for AN ENTIRE HOUR AFTER SURGERY!? I was groggy and in pain asking to see my father multiple times and they did not let me and told me that it wasn't a good idea at the time because they "didn't wanna worry him". When they FINALLY brought him back after an hour he was obviously concerned. I was given 2 doses of fentanyl and 4 doses of another painkiller to no avail. They were pushing very hard to simply send me home despite the burn and the anesthetic simply sitting in my arm. They had an orthopedic surgeon "check" me to make sure my arm was okay. He simple poked and squished my arm a bit to check if it didn't feel stiff, then said i was fine. My father called my sister and they both demanded i be taken to CHOC which they ultimately agreed to. When i was taken, the attending physician at CHOC immediately told my parents i would be admitted. They gave my 5 injections around the burn site to break up the medication which had been pooled under my skin. They also made us aware that a hot pack should have never been used as a compression. They should have used a cold pack for this leak. When brought up to the surgeon at my post op, he INSISTED that it was a hot pack and they had done the correct thing. I met with a burn team during my hospitalization who cleaned and popped the blisters during my stay, then was sent home 2-3 days later with a month of medical supplies for home treatment and met with a Plastic Surgeon that CHOC had set me up with. this all happened in November of 2025, it is July of 2026 and i still have less strength in my right arm and have physical therapy set up to try and regain my strength. would never recommend this place and i am in the process of pursuing legal action. read more

I had a hysteroscopy here last Thursday and it went pretty well. The nurses in the back treated me really well they knew exactly what they were doing. I had to wait longer than expected cuz my dr had to go deliver a baby which was fine it didnt take too long. Only complaint i have is the front desk to check was was horrible. I was rudely told to check in on the kiosk when I went to sign the paperwork they didn't even have my right address on the paperwork which tells me they are disorganized and lazy. I asked why was my address wrong and the lady rudely said idk just cross it out and out in the right address. Overall my procedure went well however may I suggest to do something about the front desk. Having my address wrong was not ok especially when they are supposed to file it read more

My mother had an accident and she had to undergo surgery. Dr. Zalzaleh is an exceptional individual. He was the person who helped my mom with the arm surgery, and everything went A-OK! He explained what happened, the X-Rays, the proceedings in clear and concrete detail. Very awesome and wonderful man. Not to mention, the other nurses and doctors were extremely welcoming as well, they accommodated my mom despite her being shy, it's a very friendly and open environment. Surgery went really well. Would highly recommend La Veta Surgical Center. (Wrote a similar review for Dr. Avrum Kaufman from South Coast ENT.) Short review: It was a great experience. Everyone was friendly and they were very coordinated, even with the amount of patients. Recovery went well too. And billing / insurance have gone smoothly since. In depth review of surgery day / after: - Arrived at 5:45am for check in. Was very impressed with amount of nurses, surgeons, staff, and operating rooms there. - One nurse did my intake while another nurse took my vitals. Third nurse checked on me while I waited, then the anesthesiologist explained their process. My ENT came by after to chat before prepping. And then a fourth nurse who was going to be in the procedure helped the anesthesiologist prep me. Even with the amount of people involved, everyone was up to speed based on my chart of anything they needed to be aware of (including adverse reactions.) Other places might have felt overwhelming with that amount of people. In this case, it was an added reassurance how coordinated they were. Also didn't feel rushed and had some time to rest. - Procedure and anesthesia in total was between 45 min to an hour. No packing in my nose. Was already able to breathe better than I had ever before. Some nausea that afternoon from the anesthesia, but that is normal for me. - Had no issues with recovery. Very little spotting after first day. Nasal drainage primarily the first week, but saline helped a lot. Took the antibiotics prescribed, but only needed an occasional acetaminophen / Tylenol for pain. - Both my ENT and the surgery center called to check on me the next day. - At the one-week check up, healing looked great. Stitches dissolved on their own, so my ENT didn't need to remove those. - One-month post op and I'm feeling great. Sleeping better than I ever have and have felt more energy throughout the day. read more

My first surgery ever and I was sooo nervous and shaky. But im so happy I came to this place! My arrival time was at 12 and procedure was set for 2 so I did expect to wait the 2 hours. They do tell you will wait that long but if they can get you in earlier they will; that's why the arrival time is so much earlier. So i really didn't mind the wait at all since it was fully expected. once I got in the staff was SUPER friendly. Huge shoutout to the staff behind the doors. They were soooo extremely nice and made me feel at ease when I told them I was nervous for my first surgery. I really do appreciate all of the staff that made me feel comfortable--it really made all the difference. They were also really quick to bring any family members when coming out of anesthesia and the recovery nurse was AWESOME. 10/10 I really recommend this place for their service! I have nothing but amazing things to say to the La Veta Care Team! During my first ever surgery in my life (2023), the nurses here went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable especially after a major surgery that lasted hours and made sure I am recovering properly and satisfactorily before I head home. The compassion and care their nurses provided were truly exceptional, to be commended and recognized. Needless to say I was happy when my gastroenterologist scheduled my first colonoscopy (2024) to be done here as well, having experienced such great care from their wonderful nurses previously, that made me feel at ease right away. Took my son that is on the spectrum for an oral procedure, the staff was great very friendly and welcoming the place was clean and organized the check in was fast. Nurses were patient made my 9 year old feel very comfortable. It would have been better if they could at least have 1 parent go in with the child till they put them to sleep , it's so hard when children are on the spectrum and not knowing what's happening and just having to let go and go with doctors hearing the child crying is hard. But we as parent have to learn in that moment to let go and everything will be ok. The Nurse telling me everything will be fine Mom I will take care him meant a lot to me. After the procedure was done the discharging Nurse was great explained everything well they did a follow up call the next day to see how my son was doing. So I was called to arrive early by nurse Kelly the day of the procedure. I arrived early but the front desk lady did not check me in until after 30 minutes of me sitting there. The people who came after me were checked in sooner. The problem is I had to wait 1 hour and 45 minutes before I got called in for the procedure. I was so dehydrated with a bad headache & very cold in the lobby. And they completely ignored me until I went and asked what happened. I had a really good experience here at La Veta Surgical Center. I was scheduled by my Orthopedic surgeon to have a release of my carpal tunnel. When arriving at the facility, I was greeted pleasantly and noticed the facility was very well kept, clean and appealing. The front staff was kind, communicative and helpful. I was taken back quickly for my intake and pre-op preparation. The nursing staff was wonderful, they really accommodated my needs and made me very comfortable. My pre-op was longer than my surgery, so it was nice to be comfortable and well taken care of. I highly recommend this place for any outpatient surgeries. It really was a great place to be. If i could give a ZERO i would! To say I'm extremely disappointed with La Veta Surgical center is an understatement. I scheduled a surgery in September for 12/23 and had to follow up with them last week and EVERYDAY this week. I called Monday and they gave me my check in time received billing emails Tuesday and Wednesday. I paid my bill Wednesday IN FULL to receive a call from my Dr. Thursday am (day before surgery) that it had been canceled because La Veta Surgical wasn't making enough profit on my surgery. I called La Veta because they didn't even have the courtesy to call and let me know they had canceled my surgery and they all played dumb like they knew nothing about it.Spoke to the "interim director" who said they'd look into it and call me back... No surprise NO FOLLOW UP! I had to call their accounting department to get a refund since they had no issue taking my payment... again they said they would call me back... NO CALL BACK. I wouldn't recommend this place at all... it's sad that they would put their pocketbooks in front of their patients needs. Luckily I have a great dr that was able to fit me into another surgical center next week. I will NEVER give this center my business again. UPDATE- Tried to get information about my refund and was told it was sent but I haven't received it??? When I questioned that I was hung up on. I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy performed here by Dr. Singh two weeks ago and the overall experience was excellent. The front desk staff made check-in a breeze (I previously knew how much $ was due so it wasn't a surprise that day) and my nurse, Jackie, had the best bedside manner and made me feel comfortable and less anxious. They run a very efficient operation there and I wasn't waiting long before and after my procedures. The staff were caring & competent and I knew I was in good hands. Be careful, these people border on elder abuse and malpractice. We had a surgery scheduled for my elderly father who is wheelchair bound. When we scheduled the surgery they assured us they had no problem in accommodating my father and performing the procedure. We started all the medication the 3 days before the surgery. On Friday, 72 hours before the surgery they called to confirm the appointment. They confirmed they were going to perform the procedure on his LEFT eye. THEY HAD THE WRONG EYE. IT WAS HIS RIGHT EYE. We corrected them and everything seemed fine. This morning, less than 24 hours before the surgery, they called and said they could no accommodate someone in a wheelchair and had to cancel the procedure. They were rude and very insenstive. It is probably a good thing. Based on all the one star YELP reviews, we should have known. This place clearly should not be licensed as a surgery center. This review is for the Billing Department ONLY as the rest of my experience here was 5 stars. I have never had worse customer service. Over the course of a year, I have had the unfortunate experience of dealing with these people who have shown zero willingness to be helpful. It took 8 months of calling them repeatedly to get a bill. I asked for a payment plan & was told if I didn't pay within 3 months, I would be sent to collections (which has never happened to me). I tried to follow up: I called (no answer), left voicemails (no call back), and e-mailed (no response). I received a letter in the mail today that said I'm past due (even though I've been paying on time monthly) & if I don't pay by Monday, I will be sent to collections. I now have to clear out my entire emergency fund/savings to satisfy these folks. I believe in paying what's owed, but some communication, understanding, and kindness would have been appreciated. read more

The process from start to finish made me confident that my procedure would go smoothly and that I would be taken care of. If they had better communication among themselves, they would be a great place. Since the start from them calling to confirm a surgery date, I have told them that due to my son's disability, both parents need to be there , not one like their policy states. Told them the day they called to reserve the date and let them know again on the night before surgery. Michelle , the night before, informed me that they would have it notated on the chart and would notify the charge nurse of this exception so we won't have any issues the day of surgery. Come day of surgery, no communication among themselves, Liz LVN charge nurse was real rude and questioning as to why both parents need to be there. Spoke to Roya whom was in charge of that department and stated she would see who said what and who didn't document. It was a big headache since the beginning. read more

My little baby had surgery here and I just wanted to leave a review for other future mamas who have to bring their babies here for surgery. Your little one is in good hands and the best care. The fear of handing your little one off to a stranger to undergo surgery is a scary thought, but that fear was gone once I met the team here. They care and they do this professionally. We never once doubted our baby was in good hands. You are notified of EVERYTHING the second it happens. You can watch on the screen in real time but they also text you at the same time. There was never a wonder of where our baby was at and as soon as surgery was done and stable they rushed us back to comfort and go over ALL our questions. This place is very clean and to the reviews about the front desk team being rude, they're not at all. They're trying to check in people who are already on edge and stressed about having to undergo surgery or watch their loved one have surgery. The front desk was polite, helpful and nice. I think it's the people we saw who came in hot and heavy demanding to know exactly what time everything would take place and walking around the waiting room like they're entitled to vip treatment who have the issues. I don't usually do reviews but this one definitely deserves one. On April 6th 2021 I was finally scheduled for surgery. I got diagnosed with a brain tumor right behind my left ear. Due to Covid I couldn't have anyone with me, which can be so scary and depressing. I'd like to genuinely Thank a few nurses that took very good care of me in the most scariest day of my life. My Pre-Op nurse Ashley for making sure I was relaxed and comfortable. Constantly checking on me I loved the way she cared for me. And another thank you to my Recovery nurse Hanna Victoria Roya, you're amazing! I was in pain and very confused when I woke up from surgery and she made every attempt to make me feel comfortable and was very gentle and caring. Thank you so much. I will never forget any of you.
