I've been to a decent amount of of Holocaust Museums and this place was great. It is on the smaller side but still has tons of information. It really focuses more on St. Louis and the people of St. Louis. It is also more positive than other museums as it really focuses on survival stories. I believe I paid $12 which is a super price for this museum and it was also great because no one else was there. All of the staff was very informative and friendly. This museum can be quick because, like I said, it's on the smaller side but I took about 1-2 hours I think because I did read most, if not all, plaques. I would definitely recommend checking it out! read more

Smaller museum, bigger information. This museum was defientley well put, richly furnished and clean. They obviously care about this museum a lot, there is so much to learn about. It's educational despite the museum being more tiny. It's a long walkthrough if you see everything, and they have it all. The exhibits are really descriptive, and truthful, it was beautiful to see and learn. From models, to presentations, to actual things found during the time, so much. Touring around and learning more about the Holocaust in different places is wonderful, no exception for this museum. read more

This was the most amazing tribute and timeline of such an important part of our world history. I love history and thought I had a good knowledge base of this subject. I was wrong. I spent 3 hours in this unique and beautiful museum. The information given along with interactive components were compelling. The emotions I felt hit hard, but it was what I believe is supposed to be the impression. I would recommend this experience to all ages. Wow. This was my first time at a holocaust museum and this experience was so humbling. It was only $12 and I felt they could have easily charged more. We were here for 3 hours because there was so information available to take in. They started the museum with a video from the past, and then they went on chronologically through the years. They also had personally stories and excerpts from survivors and family members. They also had a reflection section at the end that discussed how such a mass genocide event could even happen. They ended with a video of current intolerance events from around the world and a motivational video on speaking up. The staff was super friendly and helpful as well! There was a literature shop at the end where we bought some books :) read more

Great museum! I normally don't enjoy going to museums but I learned a lot from this trip and I'm glad I went! Many different things to read about and see here, from writings, artifacts, to people sharing their stories, and I would recommend this to someone wanting to learn more about the Holocaust! Very informative, poignant, and emotionally stirring. This is a good place to go to learn about the hateful and regretful history of the Jewish holocaust of WWII and how the world should make a stand to NEVER repeat this again. It's not something that makes you happy to learn about, but it's something important that everyone should know and I'm thankful that the great city of St Louis has this free resource for people. We spent about 30-45 minutes walking through this museum with a few stops for interactive videos and lots of different little displays. There's a tour you can go on if you catch it, but the woman working here was walking around and very informative and happy to answer any questions we had. If you're in St Louis this is worth a stop. read more

This museum has been on my list of places I need to visit for a while now. I finally got the chance. It's currently under construction for a remodel but the exhibit is untouched. The stories of survivors as well as their relatives is displayed very well. Family pictures show so much detail of how people lived before the holocaust. I was so sad to see the evidence of how blind people were to the atrocities that the Jews faced during this time. They showed how many different groups were enslaved by the Nazi regime for being different. I hope more people will visit this museum and learn how easily and quickly hate can change and ruin lives. In my opinion, everyone should see this exhibit. Highly recommended. read more

The Holocaust is always a subject that is worth revisiting, and learning about world history. I'm sure you learned a lot about it in junior high and beyond, but this goes into some more detail. I know that I learned quite a lot more! I wasn't aware about some of the St. Louis relations to the post-WWII period, including Joseph Pulitzer visiting concentration camps and being one of the first to write about it in the newspapers. I also didn't know that St. Louis attorney Whitney Harris was part of the American Nazi prosecution team. Even more, 300 Holocaust survivors eventually made their home in St. Louis. The museum shows the exhibit area in chronological order, from Hitler's rise to power to Nazi prosecution trials. Several stories from the survivors are told through the museum, and each one is definitely touching. Many pictures of those who either were killed or survived the tragedies are on display. It will make you stop and think how we take our freedoms for granted every now and then. Sadly, not a lot of St. Louisans know this place even exists. I didn't know about it until there was a stl250 cake placed there a few years ago. Be sure to visit here. It is free of charge, but donations are always accepted. read more

What an awesome thing to have in the STL area. It's worth a trip to check out. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. The museum is mostly reading-based exhibits. Really, the value comes from the tour guide and speaker. If you go, definitely jump into one of the tours instead of exploring on your own. This museum gives you all types of emotions. I really wished we had a museum like this in Cali! I enjoyed how engaging the museum was, from the words depicting their own story to the staff who had stories of their own through their family. It was an eye opening visit that taught me a lot. The saying goes, "you learn something new everyday", I felt this was true for me. These are the type of museums children should go to on field trips, an outer classroom experience! We took our 8th graders here for a field trip - they had read numerous books about the Holocaust and WWII. Our guide was excellent - her grandparents were Holocaust survivors. She did a great job telling the story of how everything started and what it was like for those affected by the Holocaust. She shared personal stories of Antisemitism and stories of the successes of survivors in the St. Louis community. She showed the students how they had things in common with the people who were affected most by Hitler and Nazis. We also met with a survivor who showed pictures of his family, and told of his family's escape from Germany, walking 1000 miles to Genoa. While we were there I was texting other friends - telling them to come and visit. The exhibits were a good mix of text, pictures, audio, and artifacts. Highly recommend. read more

One of the great things about St. Louis is the amount of museums that are here. The range is also just a many. From art to transportation, the museums here are terrific. One of the museums that are among the most important I feel is the St. Louis Holocaust Museum. The St. Louis Holocaust Museum located just right off of Lindbergh, allows you to learn about the Holocaust from first hand accounts taken from the testimonials of survivors. The exhibits that are housed at the museum are moving with the history that each tell. The St. Louis Holocaust Museum also has traveling exhibits that come through that are just as important. At the moment now, until mid May, they are hosting the exhibit that is about the Bosnian genocide that includes a documentary film with interviews of survivors who live here in St. Louis. The St. Louis Holocaust Museum is a museum that everyone should go to at least once to see and have a better understanding of one of the largest atrocities that shaped modern history. read more

Loved this museum. For such a small venue, plenty of information was afforded. We elected to go on the public guided tour, but wished we had chosen the self guided tour, as we missed out on so much. We were fortunate enough to listen to a five year survivor of the concentration camps who also wrote a book about his experience. So worth it! I would go again in a heartbeat! read more

It's very revealing and hard to see. I mean that in the best possible sense. These people payed such a price. It's humbling to see what they endured.
