History

Established in 1864.

St. Mary Elementary school was founded in 1864. In 1891, a three-year high school program was added to the elementary school. Our current primary building was completed in 1908 and today serves our Pre-K through 3rd grade students and offers a wonderful space to the parish and school in the lower level Spirit Center. In 1924, Saint Mary High School was transitioned from a three-year to a four-year college preparatory program under the guidance of Fr. David P. Quailey. The main school building was build in 1929 and currently houses our 4th through 8th grade classrooms, gymnasium, library and cafeteria. In 1961 Saint Mary High School was re-named Bishop Fenwick High School in honor of the late Bishop Fenwick, ordinary of the Diocese of Columbus. Bishop Fenwick High School remained a diocesan high school until 1971 when the new high school was completed on Granville Pike with the generous financial help of Mr. William V. Fisher, for whom it is named.
