I needed to get away, and saw this excursion via Eric Oranges' wine happenings. Wine tasting and sailing! Right up my alley. I booked and made reservation at Harbour Inn- I love that I stayed at before. Approached by a spry lady, I was asked my name - she turned out to be the granddaughter of this 1926 New England Charter, Capt Iris. Very personable and knowledgable as she pointed out things along St Michaels banks e.g., The Perry Inn and the focal point filming of The wedding crashers. The name Selina, itself had family virtue and significance-pronounced different ways, the one I remember is as in Selena Gomez. We were also quizzed on how many tons the vessel weighed. My guess way low-16 tons!!. We marveled at the woodwork and upkeep of the ship and hours to maintain- not to mention gas cost. We were offered our choice of beverage- I had a tasty Chardonnay, although I'm not sure the brand. The first mate. Was agile at that point coasting in a nice spot to put up the sail, beautiful as the sky was starting to cast its evening glow with the sunset. It was truly relaxing as we made small talk about catfish and enjoyed the ambiance. I then had a second Pinot Noir however the water being a little choppy declined a third- we were Rockin ! a little with wind picking up. It was a very enjoyable outing and I would do it again in a heartbeat! Next time I want to be at the helm lol, if only for a photo shot. Speaking of photos...a picture paints a thousand words...btw the name means 'moonlight'

We had a lovely afternoon sail on the Selina. The weather was not great most of the day but Capt Iris took us out safely and we were rewarded with a gorgeous sunset. The boat is lovely and we greatly enjoyed hearing about its history, as well as learning about the area. Highly recommend!

Captain Iris provided us with a wonderful bit of history and local lore. Selina II is a well maintained boat and you can tell how much the captain cares about it. We were one of 3 couples on the boat and it felt like having our own private tour. I highly recommend this experience!

Sailing with the Selina II is a great adventure when visiting St. Michaels. The captain's extensive knowledge of sailing and the area are unmatched. It's educational and fun; the best 2 hours of the day.

We first sailed with Captain Iris 10 years ago with our children. This year we chose to return for a Monday night for a moonlight cruise. Captain Matt and first mate Mike were top notch. Informative and attentive. Weather was perfect in our eyes, clear with almost full moon. Wasn't much wind, but the Salina II sailed beautifully. Plenty of beverages, great history of a beautiful vessel, and a photograph worthy sunset. Thank you so much for a wonderful night!

    On the boat!

Every call I had with the owner was bizarre and confusing. He asked for a $545 deposit, which after my 1st experience I was happy to give. The weeks leading up to the excursion I kept getting the most confusing calls, to the point where I gave him an out to just cancel the trip as it seemed he didnt want to do it. He assured me he wanted to, but then asked for more of a deposit. I refused, citing that he has zero up front costs, so a deposit is hardly necessary in the first place. Then comes the day we are to depart, and I get a ton of texts giving me not 1, not 2, but EIGHT (8) REASONS as to why he had to cancel on me. I tried calling him he refused to answer the phone, he would only text me. I demanded a refund, he first said "Done" but 3 days have gone by and still no refund. He then responded saying he would give me an "upgraded gift certificate" to do another trip with him instead of a refund. I was confused, bc he said that he sent the money back! Either way I explained that in no way shape or form do I want a gift certificate as I would never spend another penny with him. DO NOT USE THEM!!

When I started planning my very first trip to St. Michaels, there was one attraction that made the…read moreitinerary before almost anything else: the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. I'd heard so many people rave about it that I figured it deserved a few hours of my vacation. Turns out...a few hours wasn't nearly enough! Admission was $22 for adults, and one of my favorite surprises was learning that your ticket is good for two consecutive days. A volunteer at the front desk gave me a wonderful overview of the property, explained how everything worked and made sure I knew I was welcome to come back the following day as long as I didn't lose my admission sticker. That's tremendous value for everything there is to see! The first thing I realized after walking through the doors? This isn't just a museum. It's an entire waterfront campus! The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum sits right on the Miles River and includes historic buildings, floating vessels, exhibitions, gardens, a working shipyard where traditional wooden boats are still restored and built, and enough history to keep you wandering for hours. Whether you're interested in Chesapeake Bay history, boats, lighthouses, watermen or simply beautiful places to explore, there's something here for just about everyone. Now...in true to me fashion...I headed straight for the gift shop before I looked at anything else. My philosophy is simple: shop first, think about it while I explore, and if I still love it by the time I leave, I already own it. Except...that didn't exactly happen this time. I found something I loved immediately, bought it right away and happily carried my purchase around the museum for the rest of my visit. RELATED SIDEQUEST & PRO TIP: While I was wandering through the gift shop, I overheard another visitor asking an employee if they sold U.S. Lighthouse Society Lighthouse Passport books. Wait...what passport?! Excuse me while I casually eavesdrop. A very quick Google search later, I had fallen headfirst into yet another travel rabbit hole. Apparently there's an entire Lighthouse Passport Program where visitors collect official lighthouse stamps from locations all over the country. Well...that sounds dangerously like something I would absolutely obsess over! The museum has an official lighthouse stamp available at the front desk, so even though I don't own the passport yet, I stamped a blank piece of paper to tuck safely away until I order one. I have a sneaking suspicion I'll be back to stamp the real thing someday! PRO TIP: Get your lighthouse passport before you go! I spent the next several hours wandering the campus completely at my own pace. One thing I really appreciated was that the museum lets you create your own experience. Some exhibits fascinated me, others I breezed through, and there was never any pressure to see things in a particular order. It felt more like exploring than touring. The museum itself was fantastic and easily worth the $22 admission. More than anything, I came away impressed by how much pride everyone there takes in preserving and sharing the history of the Chesapeake Bay. It's clear this isn't simply a collection of artifacts. It's a place that's actively keeping an important part of Maryland's history alive. Whether you're visiting St. Michaels for a weekend or just passing , I'd absolutely recommend making time for the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. And while you're there...don't forget to get your lighthouse passport stamp!

The visitor center entrance building has great bathrooms and the new gift shop? Chef's kiss!
