I decided to take a sailing lesson on the Selina II. I must say that Captain Iris and First Mate Frank were excellent. They immediately made me feel at ease and were very patient and thorough with me as they showed me the ropes. The captain and I spoke a lot and in addition to being extremely knowledgeable about sailing as well as the physics involved, she was also very personable and easy to talk to. It was a very nice first sailing experience and I would certainly look forward to future lessons or excursions with them should the opportunity permit. read more

We were the only ones on the sail, after another couple couldn't make it last minute. The boat is well kept, very pretty sails. It was relaxing to be on the water but a little awkward as the only ones- we did feel the need to talk to the captain most of the time. I saw some other reviewers mention the hats and t-shirts that she brought out at the end. I didn't feel compelled to buy anything but it did feel a tad forced. The Fireworks Cruise was wonderful! Captain Iris and Frank were a wealth of knowledge and so much fun .We enjoyed every second and would highly recommend ! Very disappointing. The captain barely spoke and preferred not to raise the sail. He was also rude and generally unfriendly and gave no history about the area or sailing. We were also not offered any involvement for sailing even though it is written in the description of the excursion. Too overpriced. read more

We took a early afternoon sailing trip with Captain Iris and first-mate Frank. It was a nice sail and the catered food we ordered was delicious. Captain Iris and Frank made us feel welcomed and were extremely comfortable. Frank told us a story about some crazy family who lived on one of the Islands. It was entertaining. I would have loved to also hear more history and seen more sights of the area. I think the cost of the outing and the separately ordered lunch was a bit high but we still enjoyed ourselves. My wife and I after 18 years separated for a bit more than a year. But with God's help decided to give it another try and we renewed our vows aboard the Selina 2, 08/20/16! Captain Iris is very knowledgable having grown up on the water all her life. And first mate Mr. Harry is unbelievably talented in handling the nuances of the Selina 2. Which is a wooden hulled 44 foot sailing yacht built in 1926. We couldn't have asked for a classier, well done ceremony! I went on a Moonlight Cruise. The boat itself is very nice, very clean, and along the cruise you are treated to some drinks and snacks. The waters in St. Michael's are not rough in the least so don't worry if you are prone to sea sickness. What really took away from the experience was that we were "reminded" that we have to tip and I quote, "just like restaurants, it's 20%". I already paid for the cruise ($85 per person + tax), why am I tipping? For not capsizing the boat? The captain was very well versed, experienced, and nice but the thing that really annoyed me was that during the cruise, as we were nearing the end, and when we docked we were reminded to tip appropriately. It really ruined the moment. If anything, just include that in your price so it's all upfront. read more

Sail Selina is a flawless vessel, and the five stars above, barely do her justice. I chartered Sail Selina II in order to propose marriage. Captain Iris and her crew made sure both the sail (and the engagement) went off without a hitch. Captain Iris was terrific to work with pre-sail, and because my plan to pop the question had a few moving parts, she even made time to meet me at the dock a few days beforehand to pre-game. The sail was delightful. The details all were handled perfectly by the extremely competent crew, and we had a wonderful engagement. I feel compelled the emphasize the presidential level of this yacht. This is not your typical tourist tour/sail, she is in truly Bristol condition. In other words, she is maintained with far more love and detail that makes sense for a day charter, her captain clearly loves her...and you are just lucky to be able to hop aboard. There is not a mark on her gleaming white hull, a bubble or scratch in her flawless bright work, or a speck on her deck. The lines are bright white, the sail is impeccable, and the brass is polished to a perfect shine. Even though Selina II is the very image of a millionaires yacht, Captain Iris has kept her prices accessible to just about anybody. Something tells me she's done this on purpose, to share Silena II with a broader audience. When you step aboard you will step back in time, and as the Selina winks to Casablanca, you'll sail off to a wonderful adventure in style. read more

My daughter and I had a wonderful experience sailing on the Selina II. The boat is a beautiful vessel. The scenery on the Chesapeake is spectacular, and having the opportunity to see it from the water is something we will always remember. The captain of the Selina II made our excursion comfortable as well as informative with her knowledge of the harbor and the beautiful estates along Lewes Creek. We were visiting Annapolis to drop our son off at the Naval Academy and wanted to do something special with our 12 year old daughter. After considering many options we booked a cruise aboard the Selina II. My husband is a retired Coast Guard officer so we enjoy virtually anything to do with the water. Our experience aboard the Selina was not just a fun-for-dad experience. We all enjoyed it tremendously. Selina II is a beautiful ship, impeccably maintained and spotlessly kept. Second, Captain Iris was simply awesome, as was her single crew member. Our family shared the cruise with a young couple who were also a great deal of fun. After getting underway Captain Iris provided an interesting description of the harbor and the history of the Selina. I was hopeful that my daughter might be invited to help in some small way while we sailed. What followed far exceeded any expectations that I had. Captain Iris invited her to help at the helm and under the guidance of the mate with the sail as well. For the balance of the cruise Bridget was gleefully, and attentively, under the instruction of Captain Iris. As we settled in for some delightful hors d'oeuvres and wine, we continued to observe our daughter's pure joy. Can a smile stay in place for two hours? Yes!! After returning to port we reluctantly headed to the car. Our daughter jumped into her daddy's arms saying "That was so awesome!!!! That was so much fun!!! Thank you Daddy". Six months later, she still wears her Blue Selina II t-shirt. I asked her what was the most fun thing she did last summer. "Sailing on the Selina II by far! It was indescribably amazing!" Took the sunset cruise from 5:30 to 7:30pm a few weeks ago. Lovely ride. Capt. Iris is very nice and points out a number of interesting items on the way. The boat is terrific and has a great family history to it. Champagne and some small appetizers were served which was nice. Beautiful scenery and very relaxing. My only hesitation for a 5-star review is the price, which I found to be a tad steep. I was in St. Michaels so I was glad to have gone, but $85 per is a bit much, especially when you consider tip at the end. Cost $221 for a two-hour boat ride. To some that may be nothing, but I found it a bit much. Regardless, it was a lovely boat ride and a fond memory, so that is worth something. I would recommend you get on board. read more

Wow, can't say enough positive things about Captain Iris, her crew, and this sailing adventure. It was by far the highlight of our trip to St. Michael's. You can tell that Captain Iris really enjoys what she does, as well as the first mate she had with her that day. Super nice and fun people. We did the wine-tasting trip and felt that it was more than reasonably priced. We asked to switch our day as the weather was not ideal, and Captain Iris happily accommodated us. The clincher was two months later I called and emailed to ask if there was any chance she would remember the first white wine we had tasted, as I thought I had taken a pic so I could purchase at home, but apparently hadn't. I called, and the woman who answered the phone could not have been kinder--AND she knew the name of the wine! I had emailed Captain Iris prior to calling, and she also got back to me with the name of the wine. Amazing. Highly recommend this tour. We had an absolute blast. read more
