My mother and Aunt both lived here. beautifully, lovingly cared for until they passed. Carmelite tradition sang them to their rest.

Worst care imaginable! My 97 yr old Dad went there for rehab after surgery. He was experiencing Post-Operative Delirium from the Anesthesia. They treated him Horribly! Staff - from the nurses, to the social worker, had no patience or compassion at all. I asked to speak to the Doctor, the Nurse, requested medical and cognitive function tests be performed - None of the above was ever done. Staff doesn't return calls. But, they will call you at 1:30AM to tell you he is delusional. They put him in a wheelchair in the hallway and lunch room to sit there all day. He was ambulatory prior to the surgery, but they were "too busy" to allow him to walk with a walker with supervision. Staff were very rude on the phone, if they answered it at all! I would not put my worst enemy in this hell hole of a facility! read more

I had a family member stay in the rehab side, and another in hospice. We have been in and out of there for close to 9 months. Outstanding care, lovely nurses, they look the patient in the eye. Listen to what they have to say and are actually genuine! We could not be more pleased with the care and cleanliness of this facility. My Mom worked in along Term Care for her career and she even said it's a find! It was actually spotless! read more

She has special needs and the staff do an awesome job not only of taking care of her, they also keep her in good spirits by engaging in conversation and simply listening to her. They are absolutely horrible. I watched my mother die a horrific death. She had had Alzheimer's for 20 years but was not aggressive in anyway. Stuck in a room by herself for 4 months alone . I wouldn't recommend to anyone. read more

St Patrick's Manor is literally the end of the road and it reeks of loneliness and despair. My aunt went to the nursing home section in the beginning of December and was dead within 3 weeks. The hallway is lined with sad old ladies in wheelchairs. There is not enough staff to pop in and out of the rooms to check up on them so lining them up is an easier option. My aunt developed Covid and we were advised to stay away. I called the front desk often to check up on her. I was told she was weak but recovering. Turned out she was asking for us but no one thought to just dial and hand over her phone? Callous. Finally a private aide went in to see for herself and discovered my aunt hadn't eaten or drunk in over two days, and couldn't even talk! No notification from SP at all! We insisted on seeing the doctor: "I'm just covering for someone else". We insisted on a chest X-ray and bloodwork. Yup, untreated pneumonia and severe dehydration. She slipped into unconsciousness and died. While we were gathered around her, a nun came in a few times to pray. Fine. But then proceeded to 1) complain about her leg problems 2)talk about her estrangement from her own family and 3) tell jokes!! What the heck??? If we hadn't been there my aunt would have died alone. Nurse on duty was polite but said she was very busy so she only came by about every two hours. This seems to us to be an obvious case of negligence. Nursing homes have a duty of care and the fact that SP advertises that the difference is love is a joke. Please, do not send your loved one here. I can't tell you how I regret sending my aunt here. I told her she would be safe and cared for. I never imagined she would pass on such a lonely, sad and unnecessary manner. read more

My 75-year-old mother has been at Saint Patricks Manor for several months now and I am exceedingly happy with the staff. She is always clean and dressed and in an exceedingly good mood. They are so on top of monitoring her that I never had to mention physical and occupational therapy or obtaining her hearing aids. They are so comprehensive with their caregiving that they are usually the first to notice any problems. I highly, highly recommend Saint Patricks Manor, especially for memory issues. read more

Our Mom lived at St. Patrick's for a little over 4 years until she recently passed away. My siblings and I couldn't find a better place for our Mom to have wonderful medical care, caring aides, social workers and nurses and other terrific support staff. Our Mom enjoyed the camaraderie of wonderful fellow residents. She was a very social person and St. Patrick's helped to foster relationships between our Mom and other residents and staff. Especially during the COVID pandemic, our Mom stayed healthy and it's all because of the hardworking and knowledgeable staff there. Mom's final years were happy years because of the kindness and support of the wonderful staff and residents of St. Patrick's. We will be eternally grateful to them all. read more

memory care unit was awful. the staff did nothing for days when it was freezing in room after my mom moved in. unit is not set up for memory patients- even getting water to drink is so complicated and difficult that the average person can not even figure out and reach where the cups are. poor assistance with personal care. the staff do not interact with patients much- and do not oversee areas like the sunroom where patients tend to congregate. terrible care. read more

The Staff at St. Patrick's Manor was so caring of my dad. He was so fortunate to be there. His medical and spiritual needs were met. His aides and nurses treated him with respect and dignity. It was a great piece of mind knowing he was so well cared for. I am truly grateful to the sisters and the staff that became like a extended family. read more

Since my grandmother moved in, we have had problems. Grandmother has been moved already because the staff could not handle her. There have been no activities for residents since she moved in, and hardly any movement at all. They yell at her when she tries to walk and make her sit all day. She is picky with food, but they don't try to accommodate her tastes even after I met with the nutritionist. I get all these calls to sign for new medication and if I don't sign right away because they don't give adequate information about the medication or their reasoning for giving it to her, they threaten you with a 30 day notice to kick her out of the facility. When I'm pretty sure they just want to sedate her. Employees are leaving left and right (the good ones) and the others are not being safe in the outside world as employees there always have covid which means the residents are in lockdown for 2 weeks every time and get tested. (Which means scheduled visit and doctors appointments are cancelled) . They never call you back about scheduling appointments unless you keep calling, but some nurses will call me to harass about how they can't handle my grandmother. They only call on certain things, I had to put a note to call me if she falls because they didn't the first time. I have to call to visit, usually leave a message and usually takes weeks for the whole process unless someone has Covid then months. Dropping off packages also is a problem it goes through a huge process and sometimes it gets to her days later if she even gets it. One time I had to call and someone tracked down the cookies I sent her to the nursing station separate from the rest of gift. Front staff has been uptight also, seems like no one likes their job. If it wasn't for the need of a facility that is close and what I had to do to get her approved and moved in there I would move her but unfortunately it's not an easy process. Just not fair to families or residents. The only reason I gave it two stars is some of the staff have been helpful. read more

I Really don't like leaving negative reviews, however, I feel Compelled to write a review. My MIL was at Newbridge in Dedham for rehab after major surgery. She was there a month when admissions notified us we needed to find a respite place until she could go home. Mid March, Covid was just unfolding so there was a lot of uncertainty. They recommended Saint Patricks. She got there on a Thursday early afternoon and we went to see her on Friday in the Early afternoon. We had called Thursday evening and were assured she was "settling in" and comfortable. When we arrived Friday we met with a Director. Got a quick tour and went to see my MIL. What shocked me was New bridge Had already started with Temp checks for visitors, No congregating And staff was in masks and washing hands between going from patient to patient. Saint Patricks had One hand sanitizer as you entered with no Hand washing stations. I did not see another hand sanitizer for the rest of the tour. I witnessed that staff was going from patient to patient while they were all in the hall. no masks, No PPE, no hand washing....Again Covid was just unfolding and I was shocked that staff was not on high alert. When I went in her room Her plastic bags Filled with her items were still on the chair and she was lying in bed. Nothing was taken out, her personal hygiene items were still in plastic bags, Her pjs were still in bags. They lied her in the bed and kept her there, 24 Hours later, is what my MIL told me. The shared Bathroom was filthy. I began unpacking her and attempted to make her room feel homey. that evening she called us at 10, begged for us to get her out of there. "something is wrong with this place." Saturday we went to see her and was informed they were not allowing visitors. I Knew if we left her in there without an advocate, she would get very depressed and quite possibly get Covid. I didn't trust saint Patricks with her care. Alone! Monday we took her out of there and brought her home with 24 hour care. We are fortunate that we could, my heart aches for the people who could not visit their loved ones! . As of July 7th 2020. 175 residents had Covid, 39 passed of Covid. 79 staff members had Covid and recovered. frankly, I am not surprised. read more

A definite 5 stars for the Lourdes Memory Care Unit at St Patrick's Manor. My 90-year-old mom is physically healthy but struggles with dementia. She lived with us for 14 months, which was a privilege and challenge, before we moved her to St Patrick's about 7 months ago. We feel very blessed to have her there. The Lourdes Center is a 27, all female bed unit with private rooms and half-baths. (A few walk-in showers are down the hall) The unit is secure, quiet, clean and peaceful. There's a lovely outdoor garden/patio attached for residents to enjoy in the warmer months. We're not Catholic, so daily Mass, nuns in habits and wall icons were foreign to us but became routine very quickly. There is a monthly interfaith service offered for non-Catholics. What especially sets the Lourdes Center apart is that it is based on a social, not medical model of care. Numerous activities are planned throughout the day, along with outings for those able, to keep residents engaged. All are encouraged to participate but not forced to so. Because it's a social model, residents need to be physically mobile and able to perform activities of daily living, such as feeding and dressing themselves, with minimal cueing. Residents with aggressive or behavioral issues are not accepted. Claire Henry, the director, is lovely and accessible. She and the staff helped ease the transition for my mom/family and is responsive to any concerns. My mom has settled in well, and she's well looked after by a great staff. I'm fortunate to live close by so can visit almost daily with my little dog, who is always a big hit with all. I would absolutely recommend the Lourdes Center for your loved ones with memory issues. read more

My mother had emergency open heart surgery, April 2019, & we were thrilled when she was sent to St. Patrick's Manor for rehab! (I had already visited both St. Patrick's Manor & attached Carmel Terrace Assisted Living before and knew how great it was.) I can't say enough about the caring, "go the extra mile" atmosphere of ALL the staff. As you can imagine, there are many different professionals in & out of a patient's room, but they all have the same kind attitude. My mother has all her marbles and experiences this when family is NOT visiting. The atmosphere is bright, homey & inspiring. I can't imagine families having a bad experience unless it is an anomaly. One of my Sister's mothers also lives at the Memory Care facility & we get to observe up close the personal & varied attention she gets (way beyond simply meeting bodily/medical needs). If there's an issue, the staff/Sisters are always available to address/resolve it. Disclaimer: I'm a nun of a different congregation, but I'm not doing the "nuns gotta stick together" thing here! My father recently stayed at the Rosarie Center of St. Patrick's Manor for cardiac rehabilitation. The facility was excellent, and he and my family were so happy with our experience there. All of the staff, including nurses, nursing assistants, therapists, and cleaning staff were so kind and compassionate to my father and the family! Everyone was helpful and always willing to answer our questions and address any concerns that we had regarding my father's health. My father received excellent medical care during his stay. Additionally, the room was always extremely clean. It was such a relief to know that my father was safe, comfortable, and so well cared for during his stay. read more

At the "recommendation" of a New York Times piece that appeared on May 15, 2018, I am compelled to write this review. Sadly the quality of care at St. Patrick's Manor has suffered since my Mother was a resident from 2002-2009. I recently had to place my disabled sister there for sixteen months and, in spite of the fact that the same conscientious & compassionate director is overseeing the facility, as was in charge when our Mother lived there, my sister left with a medical condition that could have been avoided, had there been more oversight (a subsequent ER visit, 3 days after her move out of this nursing home; immediately followed by 1 week in the hospital). I often found her alone & at a risk for falling; still in her nitegown / unbathed past noon; routintely leaving food untouched in her room, not being cued to eat (she went from a 1x to a Petite Medium during her 16 mth. stay); wearing soiled adult diapers, etc. I understand the vagaries of meeting the specific needs of a varied population. But the consensus of the caring staff who were also there during our Mother's stay is that there are fewer resources, and hence personnel are overextended. I am grateful my sister was mandated to be moved into a small group home in my neighborhood. No situation is perfect, but I now feel she is safe and has the level of care she requires. read more

Terrible facility...Nuns were mean and uncaring...My mother had a nut as a roommate who would say Hail Mary's all day long out loud...Room Mate was jealous and would pull my mothers earphones off...Mother had more visitors maybe that was why...Tried to get her moved but they said it was not possible at that time...Peeked in the dining room window one night and mother was calling for assistance and was ignored by staff...Mother was mostly blind and was scalded when she knocked a bowl of soup into her lap...I took her to my home for the last 6 months of her life...I never paid the bill and had photos of her scalded inner thighs in case I went to court...stay away if you love your elderly parent...time to pay back for their loving care to you as a child...Yeah it was tough, incontinent both ways, but at least she had someone who cared.......... read more
