Pay with cash. I found a cheaper place 11 dollars for me and my daughter verse 40 a day it's cleaner too.

When you pay your monthly fee, your money is going to a whole host of programs. For example... * This YMCA (Southwest) has preschool that is heavily subsidized. Let's be honest - who is likely putting their children in subsidized preschool? Probably single mothers. And it's one of the best preschools in the city. * The Southwest YMCA also has an adult daycare for individuals with special needs or stroke victims, etc. Also heavily subsidized. * The YMCA on 10th and Chestnut has a homeless shelter. Completely subsidized. * The Northeast YMCA does a lot with the blind and water safety. * Safe Place is a division of the YMCA, and it is 100% subsidized. Go read up on what Safe Place is. It'll blow your mind. I could go on, but you get my point. When you get a membership at ANY of Louisville's YMCAs in the city, your money is going to support the above. The Southwest YMCA, I mentioned what it has. As well, it is a gym. And it's a great gym. The Southwest YMCA has the following: * Indoor pool * Childcare so your kids can be entertained while you workout * A rock climbing wall for the kids * Tons of classes like Zumba, Yoga, and Spinning * Basketball court * Free weights * All your standard gym equipment The Southwest YMCA is pretty big. It's not huge, but it's big enough. It gets busy after work hours and just before work hours. If you're looking for *JUST* a gym, then the YMCA may not be for you (although it will serve that purpose). However, if you're looking for your money to go further than just paying for you to be able to use a gym, then sign up at the YMCA. It's a great charity, and I'm glad to pay a monthly membership.

On weekend mornings, there are plenty of runners, walkers, and bikers. Parking lots are big. My only wish would be for another bathroom at the park. The only one I know of is near the amphitheater which can be a long haul depending on where you're at in the park.

We walked from the main entrance parking lot to the North overlook at back distance was able 4.30 miles we did do some extra walking around another area on our way back down. But a beautiful trail with decent amount of trees for some shade. There is some parking available closer to the trail however is was definitely full lot by the time I arrived. There is a golf course as well. Definitely a well cherished park as we saw a lot of hikers, bikers, running, the courts were full and the playgrounds were busy and just people enjoying the views and wonderful weather.

Friendly staff member gave me a map for all seven floors and the place is immaculately clean. The locker room was impressive as well as the different floors to do exercise on. Also only cost a dollar to park for an under three hour workout. Plus as a Y member in Georgia they let me work out for free. Definitely an excellent place to work out if you're in town.

Yew Dell Botanical Gardens has been on my list of places to visit near Louisville for a while now…read more Last night I had the chance to go for the last Friday of the month Happy Hour/Farmer's Market. Admission was free, though I'd absolutely pay the $12 to visit again and spend more time wandering. Everything is really well maintained and labeled. This is a beautiful place! There's a fairy garden, perfect for kids and anyone else to walk through. There's a cafe with a great balcony overlooking lots of greenery. There's such a lovely variety of trees and flowers. There are benches adequately scattered around the gardens so you can easily find a nice place to sit and soak it all in.

This park flies under the radar a bit, probably because it's not in a trendy neighborhood. It's…read morealso not one of the flagship Olmsted parks (Cherokee, Iroquois), and it's not one of the new parks (Waterfront, Parklands). It's also tucked into the neighborhood well enough that outsiders aren't likely to drive by. But Algonquin Park has a lot going for it. For one thing, it's massive -- 16 acres, one of the biggest neighborhood parks around. It also has a real swimming pool (closed this year because of COVID), an obvious rarity. And it's big enough to have a playground, splashground, basketball courts, grills, a walking path, and a football field, with plenty of room left over. The playground was refurbished just last year with new climbing structures, swings, and a slide.
