This place is so wonderful I almost don't want to post a positive review, since it is "undiscovered." They do a great job cleaning the upholstered furniture, they are upfront about any defects and price furniture fairly. There's a couple tuck n' duck parking spots behind the building. Always pleased with my purchases. It can be a bit tricky to to find a spot to load up purchases. I think they may have delivery/pickup. Sometimes the prices on dishes, baskets, decor are out of line high with the product. read more

Pretty small selection. Came here looking for a costume but there like three clothing racks. It's more of a furniture store than anything. I didn't find one employee to help me No one greets you at the door and they don't even play music! It wasn't what I was hoping for. But at least it was clean and organized. read more

They have a lot of stuff here but the majority is not price marked so I had to keep asking the lady for help. She was rude and seemed inconvenienced and the prices were outrageous; might as well go buy new. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

This is a good store in the fact that it supports a homeless shelter. it also has quite a bit of furniture for sale. However I found the prices of housewares and clothing a bit high, and some of the dishes were quite dirty. Yes I know they are second hand but it would still be nice if someone cleans them. But do shop here as your money goes towards the homeless shelter read more

Updating this from 3 to 4 stars because of some improvements (in my opinion) since the last review. There has been an expansion, which has made the place much roomier with a lighter, cleaner feel. Also, a consistently negative employee is no longer with them. My fav employee is now frequently working the register. The clothes, with some exceptions, have been 50% off since the expansion. Not sure how long that sale will last, so now is the time to check out their clothing! Only reason 4 star review instead of 5 is the clothing sometimes costs more than I'd like when not on sale. read more

A very nice quiet shop - the sales people were very polite and kind and I really appreciated all the information that they gave me as a newcomer to Newport. Bought a few lovely things in the shop but it's mostly furniture with a little bit of clothes in back. read more

The prices are on the high side....a much better venue is The Salvation Army Family Store on route 6 in Somerset...It is well organized and bright and the prices are very good. Have gotten some beautiful winter coats.There is not a lot of furniture but clothes are good value. Saver's in Fall River and the one in Warwick are great....priced to sell. read more

I live a couple miles from here and pop in on occasion, but agree with others: prices are unreasonably high (I like the comment someone made that this is a thrift store that thinks it's a designer boutique). There's an occasional nice piece of furniture, but again, it's usually overpriced. Also, the smell of cigarette smoke is overpowering at times in the store; unfortunately, one of the nice salespeople often stands directly outside the front door smoking, so shoppers have to hold their breath when walking in, and then breathe sparingly while in the store. It's really overpowering at times, and in 2015, it's really unprofessional to make shoppers have to deal with this. read more

My daughter and I spent a pleasant hour here and found some good bargains. Now we have a few garments that will always remind us of Newport! Found the prices very fair, the employees very personable, the layout pleasing. Even the music playing (once they switched from what seemed like a DVD movie-trailer loop to a Motown playlist) was great. Have been to lots of second-hand stores in many states and this was a highlight. read more

There are a few nice pieces of furniture. I have a hard time getting over the smoke smell that pervades the front room. They do have some nice clothing items, but as another reviewer mentioned, the prices are really high. They do have some higher end items, but I have no desire to pay $15 for a used Chico's cardigan or Talbot's or Ann Taylor (those were the brands available today). I feel the $5 that most items are marked at is way too high for a thrift store. But the 50% off sale is nice. It is worth a stop, especially if you are in need of furniture. read more

St. Paul's is a thrift shop that thinks it's a designer boutique. You can find some nice stuff there, but the prices are more 'consignment' than 'thrift.' Customer service varies: several times I've been in they have been nice enough. However, once I found an old battered jacket that retailed new for about 40 dollars. The $7 tag had fallen onto the floor beneath the rack, and was clearly the only one down there. I wanted to use it as scrap fabric for a costume. The attendant refused to sell it to me, basically accused me of ripping the tag off a cheaper item, and told me I could call back for the new price in five days and then drive back to get it. Over 7 dollars. I even offered a few extra dollars over the tag price, just to get started on my project. He was really insulted that I planned to cut up a thrift store's $7 old jacket. Lovely. First time I have ever had to walk out of a store in frustration. Completely ridiculous. read more

Highly inflated prices making this not an actual thrift store. Cashier was outside smoking right in front of door so we had to walk through a cloud of smoke which came into the store with us and made my wife gag. When cashier came back in it was obvious she was very sick with a very bad cough. We left without buying what we wanted to buy because my wife was afraid we'd catch what she had plus the stench of cigarette smoke. Good points- very clean, organized and decent selection although we didn't see everything because of obviously sick cashier. If you're sick stay home and if you have to smoke don't do it in front of the entrance. We'll try again in a few months (we're on the EC thrift store circuit) and hope things have improved as this store has potential.Other staff members were friendly, helpful and courteous. We were told the cashier was the manager when we tried to complain. Not sure how true this is as few managers are cashiers. Bad experience all around but hope this changes when we come back. read more
