The pre-op nurses seem knowledgeable, and were able to answer all of our patient's question sufficiently. The relevant staff came by to introduce themselves, give an overview of the procedure, and answer any questions we may have. The surgeon, and anesthesiologist, and surgical intern were nice, but the nurse anesthetist seemed nervous. While I spoke briefly with the surgeon after our patient's surgery, it seemed strange that he did not come out to explain how the procedure went. Our patient wanted to see how they did after waking up, but none of the medical staff who attended the surgery was available to answer questions. I understand that surgeons have a very busy schedule, but it should be standard practice for someone to check in on the patient, explain how surgery went, and give a brief overview of the procedure. An extra two minutes of their time is all it takes. The bedside manner for the post surgery nurse could have been better. She seemed indifferent after I explain my concern about the patient's questions being unanswered. One redeeming quality is that she seemed more pleasant the next time she came around, to check in. I refrained from judgment upon reading poor reviews online about their bedside manner as I aim to give the benefit of doubt unless proven otherwise. Well, the poor reviews online were not wrong. Perhaps it's just this specific case, perhaps that's the standard practice. But I expected better.

Wound cultures, 2 checks for sepsis, multiple iv antibiotics, shots of steroids and antibiotics, many many oral antibiotics, 2 long courses of steroids, 2 organisms ate thru my tissue. Cellulitis added to a 3rd skin infection. Multiple pcp visits. Multiple emergency on call calls. Dozens of portal messages. ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY OR RESPONSE TO A COMPLAINT FILED 2 MONTHS AGO. Never even checked for a concussion. Dr Looked over my head and said "doesn't need stitches" and walked out. Back to say "ct was normal, give her a bandage and a cab voucher and have her go wait in the waiting room" FROM THE DOORWAY. Never gave concussion evaluation (which I had one and was diagnosed in Fairview) Despicable, stigmatic behavior from a medical doctor at a hospital, that houses a medical detox, in a town, full of addicts and alcoholics, at a time in the world where you can't throw a stone and not hit someone that has never been personally affected by addiction in some way. And then to not even offer an apology, let alone anything else, like a freaking response to my complaint, makes me sick.
