Because this place might just be one of the most magical places in the world. This is where miracles happen. This is where the greatest Doctors and Nurses in the world are. This is a hospital where kids are kept entertained by clowns and hospital radio, this is the place where children with the worst diseases get healed and where research is carried out to make sure even more get healed in the future. It's a depressing fact that children get ill. You'd think prior to creation that God could have at least made a minimum age for illnesses as 18 or something. Unfortunately, that's not the case, but rest assured this place is doing everything it can to rectify matters.

I think the use of technology and…read moreresearch in the hospital means that they can provide services which can't be obtained anywhere else, but in my experience their nursing care is very variable and the cleaning and catering are just as variable as elsewhere in the UK. My son spent long periods of time in the hospital and we had some horrendous experiences here: his blood pressure wasn't checked after an operation for eight hours (until I demended it should be), he was nearly given a double dose of paracetamol (and would have been if I hadn't argued with a nurse), we spent hours listenin to other patient's TVs at top volume even late at night, and the ensuite bathrooms attached to some of the rooms he stayed in were little short of disgusting. I'd say don't expect the worst... but don't expect the best either.

When you get in there, everything is signed posted so easy to find. I thought the staff was nice and friendly. The only time I went in, I got dealt with very quick but was annoyed to find my friend had been informed of the details. So someone at the hospital had told her so watch out as confidentiality is not great there and they did not do anything about my complaint. They keep closing departments down in this hospital so might find sooner or later it closes for good, the nearest hospital after this is much better but of course 20 minutes further.

I have quite the disliking for this place. From A&E, Gynae,…read morepharmacy and parking. Even if you have an appointment for 1pm, write your whole afternoon off. One time I waited until gone 5:30, four and a half hours in a hot sticky waiting room, listening to the nurse talk loudly about every poor patients condition, only to be seen by a doctor that literally had such bad English she called in another nurse to help her understand what I was saying. Forty minutes for a straightforward prescription, not in a busy period I hasten to add. And. All of this after most the time spending 30+ minutes driving around to park in the car park getting stressed you'll miss an appointment, to pay a fortune to park. The only reason it isn't a 1* is because I think the NHS is a great institution.

It was the summer so I would spend my time sitting both in and outside. The surroundings are very modern and generally nice for a hospital. The car park costs 4.00 for the day, however I recommend parking along the main road just past the hospital coming from Barnet as there is free parking along that road. A short walk and you have saved yourself 4.00! There are two places to eat and drink in the hospital - a coffee shop open during the day and the canteen open till late. I found the cafe latte in the coffee shop to be weak and poor value for money. The canteen is cheaper but typical canteen food. The place itself is modern and for someone like me who hates hospitals I found it helped ease my mind.

What was, I think, several separate towers, have been joined by a lofty atrium. There's now seating areas on the ground floor where you can sit in peace. Up above you can see bridges crossing the space on each floor. It's futuristic and wonderfully calm. I believe they hold free concerts in there too. I come into the hospital from London Bridge. One thing to note is that the entrance that way (via a pedestrian walkway from the station: ask station staff to direct you), is actually on the second floor. If you don't remember that on your way out and head down to the ground floor it makes it just a little confusing!

Never Again! I am…read moregoing to write about the worst experience I have even had at the hands of a Doctor in a Hospital. The Whittington Hospital to be precise. His name is Dr. Joquau Kravvas from Thesalonica Greece, and he possesses the worst kind of Greek Male Mysogony that exists. I was greeted with "Why are you wearing two jumpers"? It is very cold possible the coldest day of the year I replied. He explained nothing about the treatment I had gathered from the nurse that he was about to remove some red skin that could possible develop into a cancerous growth, in the event it did not. Dr. Brarrack joked with the nurse that he would 'Have To Remove Half Of My Face' due to what he could see. I certainly hoped not. He drilled ferociously for half an hour. It was relentless. I hope I would;d not be scarred for life. The nurse said the scar would bleed for a week or so. It went on to bleed for over six weeks, I had to visit the A&E of UCHL during the Xmas break as it bled soo much throughout the dressing and I woke up to blood on my pillow for six weeks. This was embarrassing as I was staying with relatives for some of the holiday, Three months late the scar is still there. I wrote an honest review of my treatment and mentioned his name. He had it removed. But I doubt that Yelp will allow vanity struck doctors like him to remove an honest review. I like the nurses in the Dermatology dept. and I like the Italian coffee and soup stand that is parked in front of the Whittington, but I never want to set eyes on Joqau Barrack as long as I live. And I would not wish him to cut a biopsy into anyone\s cheek. Not even in Harley Street which he arrogantly brags about. He drilled by cheek with the ferocity of a farmer drilling a carcass,

Over the last month I have spent a fair bit of time in and out of various hospitals in London. I…read moream thinking of doing a series. So let's start with the one closest to home. Whilst this isn't the first hospital I have ever been in, in London, it was the first to offer me overnight hospitality and they keep asking me to come back for more. I get the feeling the staff like having me around, or my health issue is more serious than it feels. The staff here are great. Really friendly and welcoming. When I checked in to A&E I was glad to have a friend with me to kill the time but I was seen by triage within 20 minutes and then only had to wait a few hours (it wasn't obviously serious) before being seen by a doctor. The A&E doctor was a nice guy, though I didn't particularly approve of the way he stuck needles into me, it hurt quite a lot (it was in the hand) and since I hate needles anyway (even writing this is making me feel faint) I was throwing up quite a lot. The anti-sickness drugs took effect swiftly and when the blood test results came back I was given a room in major injuries within 5 minutes and a private room on a ward within a couple of hours. Everyone from the porters to the nurses and phlebotomists were amazing, always willing to chat and make you feel included in their lives. My friends tell me the ward doctor was very attractive. I was a little busy being ill to really judge but I can vouch for my friends good tastes. I was impressed with the range of tests they gave me and very grateful that with the NHS I didn't have to pay for any of this. The food on the ward was, average at best however the canteen area was filled with choices and all of which looked delicious. I can recommend this hospital, especially because there is a therapy dog who comes to visit every day and there are lots of local groups who visit the elderly and palliative care patients to ensure that everyone has a visitor during the visiting hours. Whilst there wasn't a tv or a phone in my room the time was passed pleasantly. Ambulatory care is also a very welcoming place to visit as well as just a wonderful phrase to repeat. The staff take good care of you here. If you get truly bored you can always count the pictures of cats scattered around the hospital.

It was a very quick labour, as my dad says: I've never had a lot of patience! Anyway, a few years ago I had to undergo quite a scary surgery on my throat and for some reason I sought comfort in the fact I was referred to St George's Hospital for the big op. I had an amazing surgeon, Mr Williamson, some brilliant (and one gorgeous) student interns and the most fantastic, hard-working and comforting nurses EVER on the wonderfully named Florence Nightingale ward. I was in for three days and had to share my ward with all men, not nice, but they thoughtfully put me by the window and kept my curtain closed so I could have my privacy. The ward was clean and although I really hated the food the nurses were usually happy to give me extra yoghurt to make up for it. Mr Williamson was a fabulous surgeon and although I lost my voice for six weeks it eventually came back and everything worked out well (some may consider that length of silence from me a blessing anyway). This hospital houses some amazing staff and the amount of crap the nurses have to endure daily and the hours they work in comparison to their pay is shameful. Especially when you look at how much other people are paid in jobs much less significant! Thank you to the nurses on the Florence Nightingale ward for giving me comfort and looking after me so well during the most frightening time of my life.

The family are so grateful that he had the best chance to survive. I am sure that everywhere these days is suffering the NHS problems. Royal Free hospital is located in hampstead and is one of the major hospitals in London. The…read morehospital is well organized and has a range of departments from child birth through to renal units and operating theaters. The hospital has certainly seen better days with much of it needing to be revamped but I guess the NHs in short of money for cosmetic lifts on buildings. Quality of care tends to be good though it is difficult dealing with a massive bureaucracy where messages sometimes get lost or difficult getting through on the phone.
