Woking Community Hospital has always produced fairly mixed results in my opinion.
The waiting times are often astronomical, both for routine procedures and for appointments with doctors. There is little privacy when checking in to discuss your problems as there is a smaller waiting area near to the reception desk, filled with people who have little better to do to pass the time than to listen to all your private medical conditions.
The staff - some friendly, some less so - seem to be trained to varying degrees, with even the specialist phlebotomist having difficulty with blood tests on some occasions where the patient's veins are not easy to find.
Diagnosis from doctors has also had mixed results, with at least one misdiagnosis that resulted in being prescribed standard pain relief medication for a condition that in fact required immediate emergency attention at a larger hospital.
Regardless, the facilities are often clean and pleasant, and the waiting area is large and suitable for both the elderly and children, even if in some cases small children cannot be treated. read more
