Overall great care from nursing staff, etc. I'm mostly reviewing the cafeteria, because I was able to find almost no information online before needing to spend about a week at this hospital every day with a patient. I ate in the cafeteria many times. I'm vegetarian, and during the week had multiple choices, including a full salad bar, often a vegetable or cheese pizza though not always, and the option to order a grilled cheese at the grill. Note that on the weekend there are far fewer selections and I had to make do with a very limited salad bar and a waffle maker. But for a non-vegetarian, this is an excellent cafeteria, enough so that I would consider coming here for a quick lunch if you work nearby. I really liked all the slices of pie for dessert and treated myself during a difficult time. read more

First off ER was excellent but after that miscommunication was off the chart. Nurses did their job, I was there for blood clots and pneumonia after a hip replacement. Was there for 2 days and was sent home with blood thinners and pneumonia meds. 3 weeks later I was back to Urgent care with 102 fever only to find out that what they gave me really wasn't the right med for pneumonia. I guess now you need to be your own doctor. Going forward I will Google my med before ever leaving the Dr office. I thought I was in good hands guess I was wrong. I found communication between Drs to be a big problem here. read more

On April 12th 2026 my son was having manic episode . The police department took him to St Rita's emergency dept for evaluation. he was being violent with their staff. So they put him in protection room. They gave him several medications to try to settle him down . Instead of trying to protect him and the community from his manic state. They decided because he has major heart condition and is developmental delayed. That they could not handle him at the hospital . They call us demanding us to come pick him up at 1 am because they are discharging him . We said he is being violent and making threats to himself and community. They said he has home and we need to take him to different facility. We arrive to take Jim home from emergency room to take him home. The hospital had to call their security to try to control him. They still sent him home he could not even hardly walk because of the drugs they injected him with. The hospital did not even wheel chair him out of hospital even though he was making threats to others and was staggering around. He left hospital he decided he would make threats and wand around schoonover park at 200 am. He was very dangerous to community the Lima police department and st Rita's does not care about the community and release a dangerous person into the community. read more

Worst hospital ever! I went in ER for a shattered knee cap and torn tendon. I could only see a Physician Assistant. They gave me a brace, extra strength Tylenol and sent me home. I asked if I could see an Orthopedic surgeon and they informed me they do not have those at St. Rita's. How can they be an accredited hospital if they do not have surgeons? Do not waste your time here. I was charged over $4000. I found the exact knee brace on Amazon for $99. I guess the Tylenol was the majority of the expense. read more

I had my labs drawn at the outpatient express lab in April 2024. I was charged $1,000. My husband had the same labs drawn at our doctors office the same month which also happens to be a mercy health location however they sent out the labs to new vision and his labs cost $49. When I went to St. Rita's to have my labs drawn they did give me an estimate of how much the labs would cost. I however assumed that they were charging a fair and reasonable price. And just thought okay well if this is how much it cost what can I do. I am telling you Do not go to St Rita's to have your labs drawn at the outpatient lab. They will over charge astronomically! Be sure to have advocates present if you are unfortunate enough to be admitted here. Care seems dictated by physician extenders who do not have the expertise to manage medically complex cases. Emotional harm to the patient and most of the family was caused by palliative rn, Joy, in combination with ethics and spiritual care. Infectious disease doctor refused to provide alternatives after months of his recommended treatment made my family member worse. It seemed medical staff were providing only positive reports while Joy from palliative was scaring our family member in private discussions about code status and quality of care decisions my family member was deemed not to have capacity to make. In the end, these people made my family member's last days full of fear instead of comfort with the mixed messages. read more

My Name is Elijah Catlin I have insurance with Blue Cross Blue Shield anthem. I was diagnosed with Influenza B with developing pneumonia in my right lung on Sunday the 10th of March. I was administered treatment there and meds sent to Walgreens on Cable Road.. So they gave me a follow up visit to see my family Doctor Stephen Joseph D'Abreau whom I have never met on the 12 of March which I rescheduled from 8:40 am to 3:10 pm. I pre-registeed and paid the copay upfront t and was there an hour and a half early and finally got to the back by 315 pm . Once there it was as if they just forgot about me as I'm seeing people seeing their doctors and leaving while I'm still sitting in this room for over an hour . So I finally got mad and asked the lady just when did the doctor plan to visit me ??? She looked equally perplexed so I went and sat back down. Then some random other lady comes In and says " May I Help You??" I. Like what!!!!! MAY YOU HELP ME ???? I BEEN SITTING HERE FIR OVER AN HOUR AND THATS YOUR QUESTION YO ME LIKE I JUST WALKED IN THIS ROOM BY MYSELF???? I WAS ESCORTED BACK HERE AND HAD MY VITALS TAKEN AN HOUR AGO AND YOU DONT EVE. My husband seen melissa law for pain management he sees dr riverea . Well he seen her because he is doing most injections and is further out. So we seen melissa law and it was our worse visit ever have always loved it here such sweet people but with her with this visit awful my husband does not come all the time he waits till he cant handle his back then he comes. Well she had the nerve to say well you are considered a new patient now which is understandable but then says and you should not have been seen this quick since he is considered new patient. we waited 3 months for appointment and if this is how this place is ran thats a bit ridiculous. Not happy! Here 75 minutes, no one waiting before me, for blood to be drawn. People coming in for labs far after me have went in. No receptionist upon arrival, she came 10 minutes after. I questioned at 30 minutes why others here for labs were going before me. She responded she was still printing my labs?! This is unacceptable... the staff, incompetence, wait time... take labs in the order they come in. Do your job. Bloodwork here costs a fortune, at least do it correctly and timely. The emergency room honestly sucks. When my sister came in the Dr gave her a dirty look and acted like he didn't care. This is the slowest ER I've ever seen. The atmosphere here is very hostile and not caring. The nurses are very cocky and are very uninterested in actually helping anyone. They sent her home with nothing but clearly there's something wrong. These people have been the worst hospital assistance I've ever seen in my life. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

This hospital is profiteering on the sick and the weak. My son was diagnosed with a chronic illness. He has to have medication by IV infusion 1 a month. We finally got the bill for the first infusion and have discovered they are charging 10x the cost of the medication. That is not even including the labor bill or supplies for the infusion. Their website says their missions to "Extend the healing ministry of Jesus". I guess Christ is charging for his services these days. Unbelievable and evil to charge 10x the cost of the medication. The medication cost 2300/infusion they are charging 20,826.10/infusion. How can this be legal? If you are planning to go to this hospital for treatment of chronic illness you better get a price quote! Buyer beware. read more

Whether in the ER, admitted to the hospital or under my routine care at St. Rita's Heart Center, I am always treated with genuine care and respect, by very knowledgeable and professional doctors, amazing nurses and caring aides. I recently told paramedics -- in the midst of intense pain from what I thought was a heart attack -- "I'd rather die on the way to St. Ritas, than for you to take me to Memorial." (Due to my nightmare experience there, several years ago.) read more

BEWARE of this place. I came in through the ER with chest pain. I was admitted within hours. Had an echo of my heart done, stress test, and lots of other things. They said the stress test was abnormal and a heart cathetarization needed to be done. I was scared to death... and I should have run as fast as I could have from that place. They went in through my arm and into my heart and blood vessels and I was not numb all the way and I was in excruciating pain. I was crying and begging and they were callous and cruel as could be and instead just finished really fast. I felt the entire thing! It was horrible! I have never felt so violated and I don't ever wanna look at that place again. Now I'm home with horrible chest pain, my heart is jumping all over the place, and my stomach feels like ice. I think they damaged my heart because I don't feel right. Also a couple of the nurses were awful and you had to beg for anything you needed. I can't believe this place is in business! I'm mad and I'm frustrated and scared, and it's all 100% the truth and if I actually survive this, I don't know what to do next. Any advice is appreciated. ***Wanted to add, I didn't even get my heart echo results and I asked many, many times. I'm thinking I didn't get the numbers because they wanted to perform an unnecessary surgery! Why else would they withhold this information. We've had several mishaps with this hospital. The first was my daughter was self harming and we took her numerous times before for the same thing. One night we took her and they sent her home and i told them i was not comfortable taking her home and they said "oh she's fine". I told the nurse I wanted it documented that I DID NOT want to take her home and i was uncomfortable doing so......not even 8 hours later, they were life-flighting her to Children's in Columbus for a drug overdose! After requesting her records, the nurse never documented that I did not feel comfortable taking her home. The next was I went in because I thought I was having a heart attack and my cardiac enzymes came back okay but my mother in law suggested my gall bladder and they sent me home with muscle relaxers and said "I pulled a muscle and it couldn't be a gallbladder issue". Needless to say less than 2 weeks later I was in surgery to have my gallbladder removed! Finally, we were leaving for vacation and my son woke up itching and was red all over his body. He was itching so bad he was opening his skin up. He is on a variety of meds so I took him to have him treated so he would have some relief for vacation. We got to the ER and waited for hours. We went about 1030pm and at 3 am they sent him via squad to Dayton Children's. So leaving for vacation at 2am was already out of the question. Upon arrival at Dayton, the physician walked in and diagnosed him with SUNBURN...gave us meds and sent us on our way. Our check in to check out time was 17 minutes! My husband took our other 5 kids and left for vacation about 5am and I drove separate with our sunburnt son.....Talk about putting a glitch in your vacation. read more

Took my fiance to emergency for acute gallbladder pain. He was in such pain in the waiting room that he fell to the floor writhing in pain. The front desk rolled her eyes at me numerous times and demanded he get up. The attending nurse told us that if they didn't find a reason for his pain, they would do nothing and send him home. His liver enzymes were very elevated and his pain level was at a ten. They did finally treat his pain with heavy medications, but still sent him home while in substantial pain and throwing up. Upon his discharge, his last Dr recommended he go to a pain management clinic! He had an acute gallbladder attack, which came on suddenly. It can be treated with heavy pain medicine. I'm not a Dr. but even I know pain management clinics are for people in chronic pain, and not sudden onset pain attacks! I've never seen such unprofessional behavior out of so-called medical professionals in my life! read more

Our experience with St. Rita's has been very negative. There seemed to be a tremendous lack of communication among staff, resulting in family and the patient being terribly misinformed. The patient was to have an amputation and was first told it would occur on Sunday morning. Sunday morning, we (family) received a call at 7:10 am that the surgery was cancelled b/c a stress test needed to be done. While the patient was having the stress test, the surgeon came on the floor resulting in the patient not being able to see the surgeon. On Monday, the surgeon had an opening for the patient but the floor was not informed; thus the patient was fed and surgery could not happen. THEN family is informed that the surgery would be Tuesday. The patient had an NPO order and family was there waiting for someone to come to take him to surgery. We became suspicious as surgery time came and went AND the patient had seen NO doctor or anesthesiologist. At that time, phone calls were made and family and patient was told surgery would be the FOLLOWING day. The patient is to have a leg amputation. Can you imagine facing such a life changing surgery, emotionally preparing yourself, only to be told-OOPS, sorry, surgery is not today? It is incredible! We will never recommend this hospital to anyone. read more
