My family loves St. Symphorosa School! My son, who is now in 3rd grade, has been at this school since Kindergarten. St. Syms is always striving to improve it's education standards as well as technology for each classroom. My son has some learning issues, so he needs extra help. This catholic school offers Title One Services in math, reading and coaching. He also has an IEP and receives extra hours through CPS. The teachers are amazing, always going above and beyond to make my son feel comfortable. They give him the extra help that he needs to be successful in school. Communication between the teachers and parents is always open and my questions are answered on a daily basis. Another very important aspect of this school is that it is a family atmosphere! It doesn't matter what grade your child is in, each teacher in every grade knows all of the children! It is a warm, positive, caring Catholic based environment that I want my son to grow and learn in. St. Symphorosa is building the groundwork for my son to be successful in all endeavors of his life. Education, extra-curricular activities, religious beliefs, and strong virtues are only some of the things this wonderful school has to offer. A difficult decision made easy. After several open-houses and endless research, we decided to add another school to our list. Upon the entrance to the open-house we were greeted with warm smiles and true acceptance without any judgements or pressure. Mrs. Gasior, the kindergarten school teacher who with met immediately provided us with reassurance of the schools' mission. Celebrating faith, family , & academic excellence. The entire staff was very pleasant. Mrs. Berry the school principal was approachable, and understanding of our mission to find the right school with the proper balance of education and faith. It has now been 5 months and our whole world changed overnight due to the current pandemic. We are even more thankful to have selected St. Symphorosa, as they have guided us and provided with options for in person or remote learning. They have supported our decision and have excelled in providing an education environment for our child during this unprecedented time. From the very beginning, the staff has been welcoming, caring, and truly invested in each child's growth and well-being. St. Symphorosa has been the cornerstone for my family. My mother in law, my husband and my older children have all graduated from Syms. My youngest is still attending and there is no other place I'd want him to be. My children have grown academically, emotionally and in their faith. I have one son who needs academic support in order to be successful and he flourished in his years at Syms! I have another son who need academic enrichment and opportunity to learn at a higher level in order to grow and he too is getting g what he needs at St. Symphorosa. Dr. Berry runs an amazing school. The communication is excellent; weekly emails with everything neatly organized. Parent involvement is always available and family events occur regularly. My son has attended 3PK full day and we have had the best experience. My beginning of year nerves of sending my son off for the first time were easily calmed with such welcoming staff. His PK teacher, Mrs Horne, is AMAZING! She updates parents DAILY- yes daily since day one! I am always kept in the loop and well aware of what my child does daily in school. This is so greatly appreciated that she takes this time daily to update parents since at such a young age, the communication of a full day of school and what happens is not so easily shared. It is nice to recap with my son how his day went and to build that home to school connection by discussing in detail parts of his day since I had that information. The after school care staff is caring and I am so comfortable knowing he is taken care of from the point of drop off to pick up. I cannot recommend this school enough! read more

St. Symphorosa Elementary School is a fantastic school with a wonderful staff and great programs. The teachers go above and beyond to help the children learn what's in the books as well as life skills. There are great extra curricular programs such as coding, chess, Spanish, and more. There are good sport programs with many awesome parent volunteers. The school has an impressive curriculum that builds on itself, so skills are never learned and lost, but learned and used in more complex situations. The principal continually looks for ways to improve upon the curriculum, and the parent clubs make for having a cohesive and fun atmosphere within school during off hours as well as hosting community events. We started this year in Pre-K. Our daughter loves going to school in the morning. We have had such a positive experience at St. Symphorosa School. Communication to parents from teachers, administrators and even the school board members is great. Even in Pre-K the kids are getting math, language, music, and gym weekly. There are always activities for the children as well as families, and families are very involved in the school. Being new there, we weren't sure what to expect but the pride that families have in their children but also in the school shines through and makes you really want to be a part of it. Have been enrolled since Pre-K 3 (2021). My daughter is now a first grader, couldn't imagine getting through my busy demanding work day without St. Symphorosa by my side. Honestly feels like I leave her with family. Everyone knows everyone and the families in this community really do look out for each other. What a great village to belong to. The curriculum is appropriate and challenging. My daughter was reading by the end of kindergarten and not just sight words. They offer library hours before school, extra curriculars, after school clubs, and sports for all age groups even as young as pre-school. I am so happy with this school and parish. I have sent both my boys here and they have learned the importance of being wonderful human beings. They have learned to have such important virtues and values such as kindness, humility, honesty, compassion, respect and all the while having such strong faith. We are thrilled to be starting our catholic school journey at St. Syms. Our family has been welcomed with open arms and our son continues to excel. I cannot say enough good things about St Symphorosa. My daughter has been going for the past 2 years attending the preschool 3s and 4s program. My daughter has had the same teachers this year and last and will have my younger children as they become school aged. After everyday at school the teachers updated you on the class dojo app, of what they accomplished through out the day. Good school. Strong community. Kids have a good selection of "special" classes including art, music,.Spanish and STEM. Administrators are really good, and mostly positive experiences with teachers. Curriculum and teaching techniques were a little less advanced than we desired. I really a positive experience. With 3 and 4 y.o. preK classes they provide essential education and a needed service for working parents. read more
