On this visit, I scored a copy of The Hobbit for my daughter, and at a price that felt like finding buried treasure. Definitely a win. The store itself is easy to navigate, with plenty of sections to keep the hunt interesting without feeling overwhelming. Prices are fair, and there's enough turnover that each trip has the potential to uncover something new. Like any thrift store, you won't always hit the jackpot, but that's part of the fun. It is always fun to bargain hunt at decent prices. Their prices, like everywhere else, have gone up. At this point, for me, I rather shop at Marshall, TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack, Home Goods. It doesn't make sense anymore to shop in thrift stores for used items when their prices run parallel to clearance racks and sales in retail stores. I am a snowbird and all the bargains are gone by mid January by the time my fellow snowbirds pile in. I still donate to my local charities though. read more

They don't bother to return your calls! Last year they refused a solid leather sofa because it had some fading! Really?! It was a donation!

First off I believe in Their mission and have donated money and goods for years. The person that takes donations out back and has done so for years has always been unfriendly and somewhat rude. Lots of red tape, will pick up but do not move anything out of house, has to be in yard or open garage. Guy came out an tried to tell me the sofa had faint stain marks on a cushion which was the pattern of the shading in the material. It was a cream beige with grey flecks in it so he refused to pick it up. It was an Ethan Allen contemporary line, very expensive new but now replaced. Their loss, but am very surprised at all their grilling and rules, almost like they really dont want any donations they cant just plunk of the floor an resell. Whole bunch seemed very unhelpful and disorganized. Will never donate or have any interaction with them again in the Thrift Store area. read more

St Vincent De Paul in Sun City West is an excellent and well-managed thrift store filled with brand new and second-hand items of above-average quality at great prices. One can expect to find a large selection of items ranging from house and kitchen ware, clothing for all ages, and seasonal items to furniture, exercise equipment, bedding, and yes, even mattress sets. While I thought the store's items could be grouped and sectioned better, turns out it wasn't hard to find what I was on the hunt for. Joshus was prompt and reasonable for cleaning our window which haven't been done in 3 years. very beautiful job and price was right, and he did the screens. Now today I am having him repair the side of my house with paint and primer and fix a roof board and a few others that needed replacement and repair. So far, he has been more than upfront with pricing, and I'll let you know how this all works out in a few weeks. I would call Joshua for anything to be repaired if he could do it. I was very unimpressed by the guy that "reluctantly " accepted my donations. I drove up in my car, behind the building, on Tuesday,November 26th , at 3:15. When I asked if this is where I dropped things off he replied with a smirk and sat. "it depends how much you have". He took a look at my 4 bags of clothes and said that if I had any more, he would not take it. Then he walked away with out even a Thank you! Very ungrateful. Small location. The one in Avondale is much bigger. Still, I was able to find a coffee table in like new condition for $25. Given how heavy it is, it probably retailed for substantially more. This location is mostly clothing. There is a small media section, housewears, toys, furniture, decor, toys.. the stuff one expects to find at a thrift store. Each week is a different promotion. It is usually based on the color of the tags. Another cool thing about St. Vincent's is that they do not charge sales tax; an additional savings! Staff is supper friendly. They clearly know their regular shoppers. They gave us non regulars great service as well. If purchasing a large item, they will help you load it if you pull around back. read more

I was looking for a place that would accept a donation of soft goods: curtains, table cloths, decor pillows, bath mats, etc. I chose St Vincent because I have had favorable experiences with St Vincent in Chicago. The facility is huge and I got turned around trying to find the place for donations. I came upon the area where they provide meals to those in need. I observed the compassion and concern they showed everyone. The drop-off place was bustling with people sorting though donations and trucks unloading large items.The personnel were friendly and helpful! I was very impressed and will continue to donate to this organization. read more

Staying home has meant too much time on my hands so lately I have been on this intensive cleaning spree which has included organizing and decluttering. I packed up all these non-essentials and headed over to the St Vincent de Paul thrift store to donate. I know, I know, getting rid of stuff does not mean get more but I hadn't been in for ages and I "just wanted to look". I left my husband groaning in the car with my purse which was probably a good thing. The store was neat and organized. Staff greeted me and asked if I was looking for something special. I was pretty impressed with the prices. Example: A perfect cream color 10" Lenox vase with a gold edge for $3. This would also be the place you might find that one missing glass from the set or even intact and timeless Corningware pieces. I did contain myself (even with a $20 bill hidden in my pocket) but I will return. read more

Do not use these people. They are not accommodating in the least. When you ask them to pick up your furniture, and you live by yourself, they expect you to move everything out to the front of your lawn because they will not come into your house to pick up your stuff. How is someone who is handicapped and unable to move things on their own able to move everything outside for them to pick up? They expect you to have people do it for you, but if you have no one to do it for you, they refuse. Plus, They expect a monetary donation on top of you giving them all of your furniture! A donation for the privilege of being able to cart away your stuff and sell it top dollar, I guess. I literally just called and spoke to their supervisor, Kiesha Love, and she was absolutely no help at all. She directly told me that it was her choice not to send drivers to pick up my stuff. Some Catholic charity! You're better off using a Protestant charity like the Salvation Army or even Goodwill. I bet Saint Vincent is rolling in his grave. read more

Good prices. Quality of items are a little outdated, meant for older people. Location was small but I'm hearing they are moving to a bigger location. Last week I called for a pick up and they gave me 3/10 date between 8-4. Well at 3:45, I tried to call as I live in a condo and cannot leave this wall unit in my alley. 1st call, I was on hold 11 minutes then hung up on. 2nd call, I was on hold for 4 minute, then hung up on. 3rd call on hold again 4 minutes and hung up on again. 4th call I pushed the option to donate money and they answered after 1 ring. How unfair was that, I was so angry. She took my name & number and said she was going to reach out to the driver. 6:35 pm still haven't picked up. Very disappointed in the phone deal. read more

They have the store hours posted saying they are open from 10am to 6pm. I arrived at 5:50pm. I walked up to the door with as two employees looked at me and locked the door. Why would you lock the doors at 5:50 if you close at 6? Change your hours from 10am-5:50pm. read more

This reminds me of a traditional thrift shop with every nook and cranny filled with someone's treasure. I scored and found a Christmas tree and decorations for my new winter home. Arranged for a furniture pick up. Waited around half a day just to have the driver refuse to accept the items. They were in good shape with some wear. Nothing peeling or torn, mind you.
