I adopted a young (7 month old) German Shepherd that was an owner surrender to Saving Paws Rescue Arizona (SPRA) a few years ago. She's been great and I was so impressed with the experience I had with this rescue that I started volunteering there. The rescue takes in mostly German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois from puppies to seniors and from various backgrounds - strays, owner surrenders, from other shelters (some on the e-list), medical hardships, etc. Once under SPRA care the dogs are well fed, are walked and/or get play time outside of their kennels 4 times a day, receive medical care if needed, etc. The volunteers and staff also work with the dogs on socialization and basic training. It's also important to know that SPRA is a no kill shelter. Bottom line, if you're looking for a German Shepherd or Belgian Malinois please check out Saving Paws Rescue Arizona. They have so many wonderful dogs looking for a family like my pup pictured below, adopt don't shop.

Not sure what's up with the recent bad reviews... My wife and I adopted two German Shepherds from Saving Paws, Shadow in 2017 and Dakota in 2018. We had nothing but great experiences with both adoptions. The process was easy but thorough as they only want to place dogs in good homes. A recent review spoke of adoption costs, and they are obviously unaware of all that Saving Paws does for these dogs. Dakota came to the rescue with a broken leg as she was hit by a car, then abandoned, and they spent over 1k on medical bills alone, in turn our adoption cost was only $350. Running a rescue is expensive between feeding, housing, medical, and other bills, along with caring for dogs that are hard to adopt/unadoptable. I have told plenty of people about the good that Saving Paws does and would recommend them to anyone, they are a professional organization run by great volunteers.

This rescue is run by an incredible group of angels who sacrifice everything for these dogs. They not only save lives, but rehabilitate and restore dignity. I really love Saving Paws and all they do. They've adopted out over 200 dogs and still remember each one by name! When a dog comes into Saving Paws, it leaves with a new life and is no longer just a dog... It is forever a loved Saving Paws adopted baby. Thank you for all you do!! My parents and I both have rescues from Saving Paws and we will forever be grateful for everything they do. I think it's important for potential adopters to understand that rescues are very strict about who their dogs go to because they want to make sure each dog goes to its final forever home. They wait for that perfect fit. These pups come from terrible situations, and Saving Paws does everything they can to ensure a dog goes to the best possible home - they deserve nothing less! All it takes is a trip to the "dog house" to see that the utmost care and affection is dedicated to all of their furry guests. Or you can ask one of us - the lucky ones who already have a Saving Paws baby at home!

I can't say enough good things about Saving Paws Rescue! We adopted Harley (FKA Taffy) from one of their rescued mama's Dolly. Tara was so great to deal with through the adoption process and the puppies had been well taken care of by Tara, Charis and others. They prepared us with everything we needed to take a 9 week old puppy home including food and toys, checked in often, came to the house to give her other shots after the adoption. The rescue also has a trainer, Jeff Mason, that volunteers his time with SPR dogs! Jeff hosts free (yes free professional training) for all of us adopters. He even went out of his way and came to our house on the weekend to start our training. This group saves so many German Shepherds and devotes their lives to making sure they have great homes. We are grateful to give one of their dogs a forever home.

For dog sitting, in our home, we've used Michelle several times now and she is great. Our 3 dogs love her and she clearly loves them too. We have 2 Great Danes and Beagle/Boston Terrier mix who are getting up there in age. Our male Great Dane has a number of health issues and Michelle handles it all so well. There's a laundry list of medications for the dogs and she does a great job keeping up with it all. She doesn't mind when I'm that helicopter dog mom and I check too often on my sick boy. Regardless of his illness, Michelle sends many pictures and text updates on how things are going with all the dogs. As a very protective momma, I trust Michelle completely with my furbabies and home. We love having Michelle take care of our babies... so much so that when we were planning the August trip we just completed, she wasn't available on our original dates, so we moved our trip to make sure she was available. I appreciate the freedom Kristie and Michelle offer us to get away several times a year. I completely trust them. Give them a shot!

Other than trying to pick up the little guy, Fallen Feathers had you covered. Clear signage for what to do. They had the cage all ready for drop off, even gloves if you needed. I had my own but had a sweet Dove. Ive never done this before but felt confident they will take care of my new found feathered friend. I dont know if they will keep me posted but sure hope this little guy has a quick recovery and long life after all my effort. Someone pulled in after i left so im sure he wasnt out in that heat long. For Those below that said it looked abandoned and messy that may not be the owners fault. The website clearly states to be respectful of the owners property and I really feel people left crap behind. if you leave a box with bird droppings and things behind the next person that follows is going to think it's the owner. that's not necessarily the case. Again, this website clearly states be respectful of the owners property. The website also states to text the person to let them know the bird is there, so thankfully, a girl showed up and was able to text to advise there was a bird drop off For both of us . When we got there, it was fine. I thought it was find. I dont think we should be so hard on these people who are trying to protect and save these birds. They might not have time to always get out and clean it every five minutes, so give them some grace people.

This was after we tried taking the duck to Liberty Wildlife (found out when we got there that they do not take ducks.) Liberty Wildlife gave us other resources (we called the vets on the list and they all said they would just euthanize the duck) and we contacted Fallen Feathers. Someone responded in a text that they could not come to the phone but to bring the duck to their address in Peoria. So we did. Upon arrival, we found all of the outdoor cages to be filthy and most were filled with various sorts of birds. Few of the birds had any water or food and the cages were in the May heat of AZ. Some birds were in boxes on the ground with no protection and one bird was actually deceased. We were very stressed about what to do. We tried contacting the owner again by phone to no avail. We left a donation and, with heavy hearts, we left the duck in a cage. On May 05 and May 07, 2026, we sent the owner a text asking for an update on the duck. No response. Bottom line, Fallen Feathers should probably be investigated for animal neglect (at a minimum) and if they are a 501.C.3, that agency should investigate them as well. As a final note, though it would have been hard, it probably would have been best for the duck to had have us take it to our vet to be euthanized. We will never recommend Fallen Feathers under any circumstances.

This rescue is phenomenal!…read more Last week, I adopted my second dog from here. I met with Chris who really took the time to get to know me and talk about the dog I was going to see before bringing him out. I really like how you can meet the dog in a calm environment (out in front of their house under the shade). This rescue is run by a family of four very committed people. They keep the dogs in a home on a large lot; the dogs are not kenneled. The animals are really in a "home" like environment until they find their forever families. They like to keep in touch with adopters, which is awesome and really shows that they care about placing dogs in the perfect home. I would definitely recommend this rescue to anyone looking to adopt a dog!
