Really nice. Smash burger (kid) 2 stars. He really was just complaining about tomato of all things because when we tried it, it was a 4, tasted good. Bbq Bacon burger (kid) 3 stars. Adult said 4 stars after he tried it. It had Brie and that why she was saying that. After we tried it, it was very good. Ahi tuna salad. Excellent. 4.5 stars. A little heavy on the crunchy stuff. This review is for delivery + had it happened in the restaurant could have been addressed. We ordered a 17.00 cheesesteak + an 18.00 beet salad. The sandwich was cut in half + wrapped in tinfoil. I ate 1/2 of it which was ok but, over salted. The beet salad was fine but, too many walnuts + very little cheese; Nothing remarkably good or bad. My complaint is that when I went to eat the remaining half sandwich, it was not much more than bread (BTW, the bread is great) w/a bit of pepper + residue of cheese. We came by for a quick lunch while out an about. When we walked in we were quickly seated by the hostess. She handed us our menus and went about her marry way and just seconds later our server swung by to ask if we would like anything to drink. As she got our drinks we had the opportunity to look and around and peruse the menu. The menu has various American classics with some fusion flairs. I decided to try the short rib banh mi, and it was delicious. The meat was super tender, and the pickled veggies added for the perfect bite each time. It came with a side, and I choose the tots, because how could I not. The tots were nothing out of the ordinary but they were still crispy and hot. All in all, we had a great experience. They had great music playing throughout the meal, and it seems like the regulars never mind coming back for another great meal. Looking forward to trying other items on the menu soon. read more

Today was my first time here and definitely won't be the last. The service was great, and the food was even better. Service was nice and attentive, it was easy to get a table for brunch on a Sunday morning, and they were more than willing to let me do all the tater tots on the side. My partner had the chicken and waffles and she loved them. I ended up with a delicious, protein-rich egg dish, with delicious guac, where I could just pick at the potatoes on the side to avoid being too carbed out. It was perfect for me. I liked the informal ambiance and there were cute families with kids. Parking in this part of downtown Evanston is relatively easy. I love the fact that they're offering gluten free options, and someone in my party had severe celiac and were able to enjoy a great meal and not get sick. Huge plus. My only one teensy little thing is -- although they have a separate fryer (which is great) -- the gluten free options felt a little limited. Very casual brunch/lunch place with plenty of seatings both indoors and outdoors. Our server was friendly and provided water to us and the kid. Service was a bit slow tho. The service is good and the food is delicious. I am a very big fan of the quesadillas, having seasoned tortillas that are grilled golden brown. The seasoning on the tortillas makes them unique and very tasty. The burgers are great, tots are crispy, but my favorite is the Cajun Salmon Salad. It is slightly spicy with its cajun seasoning and creamy chipotle aioli- but not too much. It is very filling. I've been 3 times now and have never had a bad meal. Last two times, you order either from a QR code or at the counter vs. a waiter coming to your table. They seem well-staffed (a miracle these days), and service of bringing food to table, etc. is great. Awesome food. Lively atmosphere with football on TVs (no sound) on fall game days. We came early tonight for chips & guac, drinks, then early dinner. Worked out fantastic. Found a booth (where I could simultaneously charge my phone) and relaxed for a while. Decent dinner stop. We had the bulgogi cheese steak and the short rib bahn mi sandwiches. The cheesesteaks were juicy and flavorful and the bahn mi was good also. The sides of tots were crisp and not greasy. Food came out quickly and was still very hot. Special cocktail and beer list for Lollapalooza weekend was extensive and very reasonably priced. It was a perfect night to eat on the sidewalk - luckily got a spot in the shade as there is not a lot of tables with shade. Heading east on Dempster to get to the Shakespeare Garden I passed by this place and was instantly curious. Stacked & Folded? The only thing that came to mind was that this was some new laundromat concept (truly, I did--and I'm not so sure I haven't stumbled onto something here, so don't steal my million dollar idea). So the name pulled me in, and I was scrolling down their menu. I saw the taco salad and immediately had a craving so I decided I'd pick one up for a late lunch. I placed my order online, but unfortunately didn't get the 10% off for a first order (they use an order platform that another restaurant I've ordered from does, so apparently it's only if you've never used the app? Unsure, there was no code), but that's ok. 15 minutes was quick enough so I went to the Coffee Lab across the alley to grab a drink. When I entered I was greeted by the host who pointed me in the direction of the pick-up counter. It was a bit disappointing to have 4 or 5 other staff members pass by me or stand in front of me at the counter without acknowledging me for a full 1-2 minutes (it doesn't sound long--time it, it is). A woman did finally ask if I'd been helped and I said I was there to pick up an order but since I was about 5 minutes early it may not be ready (that's why I wasn't quite as annoyed as I may otherwise have been about the wait). She went back to check and said it would be about 10 minutes so I could have a seat at the bar, so I did take the first seat there. Whilst I waited, there was a staff member who was bringing dirty glasses over and placing them not directly in front of me, but right next to me (had I been eating at the bar, it would have been in the area where my food and/or drink would have been). So that was a little... awkward, but ok. A man--manager, owner, one of the two I think--was doing some stuff at the register there for several minutes, talked with a woman who was there to pick up an order that had just been received, and then shortly thereafter he asked me what the name was for the order I had been waiting for. It had been sitting in their warming area for a few minutes probably, and he seemed to know that I was sitting there waiting for a to-go order since he asked me about it, so that was also a bit disappointing but oh well. He did apologize so he seemed to recognize too that it wasn't ideal. Luckily, it didn't affect the salad terribly. The meat looked a bit overcooked, and I know y'all don't know me but coming from me that is really saying something (maybe that was spices?...). I am a person who always overcooks chicken (not necessarily on purpose) because I'm afraid of salmonella and won't eat a burger if it's not well done. I was a bit worried because I live like 20 minutes away from here and needed to make a quick stop on the way, so I was afraid it wouldn't hold up, but it did exceedingly well; on that score there wasn't a problem at all. And I have to say--it was freaking delicious. I mean I would have it again in a heartbeat, except it seems insanely expensive at $17 +tax. But would I buy it again if I had a craving for a taco salad? Sure would. Parking, I'm not sure about. There seems to be some parking in the area between this and the building just west of here. S&F is right next to the Noyes stop on the Purple Line, so I'm not sure if that's an alley there or a parking lot (I think it must be parking like so many other similar places underneath the L tracks). There's some street parking along Dempster on the blocks around here, though. Piven Theatre Workshop (used to, at least) mounts plays at the Noyes Cultural Center, which is essentially kiddy-corner from the restaurant. So this would be a great place to have dinner before a show. They have a nice outdoor seating area and the tables area actually pretty awesome, as they have a heated space in the center in order to be used in cooler weather (they were in fact in use today when I visited; the flame is protected to some extent by a glass barrier), and I think that could make it comfortable--and maybe even romantic. read more

We were so pleasantly surprised by the food we had here, since we sort of stumbled upon this spot while in Evanston. I had this: BULGOGI CHEESE STEAK Tender marinated ribeye, caramelized onions, red and green peppers, topped with melted provolone, garlic aioli served on a baguette Woweeee this was SO good! Definitely not something I've seen on a menu before. I opted for a side salad with balsamic, which was also a good size and super fresh. Loving my new favorite Evanston spot! Stacked & Folded is an upscale food centric bar/ restaurant that is a bit off the main Northwestern University campus. I got carryout from here last week and greatly enjoyed it. I heard that their burgers were pretty good and I agree. The Western burger was huge and full of flavor and toppings! I wish it was cooked a smidgen more, but it was still good. I do not remember if they asked how I wanted it cooked. Hmmm....Maybe it was on me. I got the housemade chips with it which was a good choice. Yes, the price is a little bit higher, but the quality is well worth it. My son and I tried this restaurant for lunch on a Sunday. I'm trying to eat healthy and their salad are delicious. My son got their avocado salad, and I got the short rib salad. The rib meat was shredded and tender. Nice flavors and cocktails for $10, which is reasonable now. I will definitely return when I am in the area. read more

We ordered a variety of tacos because there are so many good choices. The panco crusted avocado was one of the best. The blend of flavors was topped with srirachi aioli was perfect. We also had the falafel taco. The toppings were plentiful and the feta was fresh and creamy. The garlic shrimp taco was good. The carne asada taco is gluten free and the meat was tender. We also had the chicken adobe. Swapped corn for a flour tortilla. The flavors melded together for an amazing flavor. All of the tacos are larger than most places and the blend of sweet and spicy spices and flavors are amazing. The tacos are packaged so well, they were all intact and presentable when we got home. Love the double cheeseburger, cheese curds, and the chicken pita, but have had mixed experiences over my last couple visits. Usually insanely understaffed for the amount of business they pull in. Have never been there and not seen my server struggling as they have too many tables. Also, despite the food being good quality, half the time either the burger or the curds have been overcooked. We didn't see anything on their website that their menu was limited for brunch and didn't have access to the full menu. The restaurant was very cute and catered to a college town. Open space and very clean. The service was a little slow for a late lunch and the food was okay. I expected more due the reviews. I had the short rib banh mi and the meat was very dry and stringy. The bread was nice and crunchy and it came with a salad. My sister had their burger which was a double smashed. She said it was good but messy. I'm give this place a 5 star because everything I have tried has been really good. Short Rib Bahn Mi so good so much flavor ordered it a few times in a row. Last time i ordered it, it was too salty so I ordered the Cajun salmon salad next time. It blew me away. It was perfect. So now I try to order something new every time. Shrimp po boy amazing, chicken pita so good. I will try a burger next time. I will say this time I did the chicken quesadillas and sweet potato fries.... The quesadilla was so salty, didn't come with salsa came with like a vinegar sauce so bad and the sweet potato fries have changed (so disappointing) they are bigger and super soggy, they used to be the best sweet potato fries I have ever had. Staff was friendly but had a 15 minute lag when I wanted to pay my bill. Food was...what I would expect at a ballpark. Cheese curds were good but served with cold marinara, Brie/bacon burger was decent, but no choice in how I wanted it cooked, and it came well done ( not my preference). Chicken parm was decent too. Fries and tots that came with the sandwiches were all just above room temp when served. They weren't busy, but staffing could still possibly be an issue. Visited for lunch on a slower Sunday. There was a pretty limited brunch menu until 3pm, but our server Joseph was kind enough to show us the full dining menu when requested. We're local Evanstonians and I can't believe this was our first time visiting! My fiancé and I ordered the Cuban with a side salad and the Turkey & Brie with the sweet potato fries. We both cleared our plates and left with happy bellies. The Turkey & Brie was EVERYTHING I DREAMT OF! A combo of sweet and savory, but not overwhelming - a delicate balance of flavors. The sweet potato fries with the chipotle aioli was to die for. Joseph's service was 10/10. He was incredibly kind and offered up great recommendations. He went above and beyond by checking with the kitchen to see if they'd be okay with us ordering off the full menu. We both complimented him and told him that the world needs more people like him. Conveniently located on Noyes right by the CTA Purple Line stop, Stacked and Folded is a cool spot to get some fresh, flavorful dishes - the outdoor seating is especially nice when the summer weather isn't too hot. I ordered the beer-battered fish and chip, and loved the crispy, but juicy, texture of the fish, as well as the accompanying cole slaw, aioli dip, and fries. The prices are a little on the high side for the portion size they give (for $19, I would have expected more fish, rather than three pieces only) but that is my only complaint. read more

Loved this place. From the moment we walked in until we left, I felt treated really well at Stacked & Folded. Caught up with my great uncle and wanted to try something nearby and new. I found S&F on Yelp and thought it would be fun due to its variety and delicious choices. I like how they use grass-fed meats and have paper straws! The staff checked in on us multiple times and made sure to bring extra napkins (without asking)! For my meal, I chose the turkey on brie and it was delicious. It was a warm sandwich and the bread was flavorful and tasty. My uncle had the banh mi sandwich and loved that there was a little kick. I liked the food and even bought a salad to go- which was delicious. There is metered parking outside (Evanston raised their prices to about $1.50/hr) but it's walking distance to NU! The family and I were looking for a sit down lunch spot near Northwestern on a Sunday afternoon around noon. Everything about the place was terrific except the food. Great service, pleasant neighborhood, nice decor, outdoor seating, clean bathrooms etc. They weren't even busy. We ordered from the brunch menu. My daughter ordered the chicken & waffles. My son ordered the steak panini with fries. My wife ordered the stacked pancakes and I had the breakfast skillet. My skillet was so bad (greasy & flavorless) that I sent it back and got some mediocre French toast with burned bacon.. My wife gave up on the stacked pancakes, while my daughter scraped the cheese off of the chicken and did not enjoy the waffles. My son's sandwich was OK. Our server, Liv, was excellent, friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place because the food is not good. read more
