So good! I definitely will be back! Really really great lunch and late night food. Simple menu means that everything served ironed out the details is delicious and works together. The BLT was the highlight for me, with the chipotle aioli that came with the cheese curds also standing out. Grilled cheese was also great, and the Arnold Palmer was fantastic on the hot day. Staff was super nice and love how bright and modern the inside was as well. Great place I definitely will be returning to.

Definitely my favorite sandwich shop in the area. The staff if very friendly and they have a great menu of items. My go to is the turkey sandwich with avocado and a side of fries. The staff is very friendly and there's enough seating for the entire crew. Highly recommended!

Definitely one of the best burger spots in Evanston. You have to get the cheeseburger but add grilled onions and bacon. The truffle fries and cheese curds are worth mentioning. I'd probably get the sauce on the side the next time I order truffle fries. My daughters like their grilled cheese sandwiches.

Not a place to eat late, it's just a bar with no food and only one bartender. Never even noticed us.

Ambiance: I'd say this is a trendy kind of place. Sort of shabby chic deco, getting a coastal vibe meets the 50s. Very clean environment. Everything looks pretty new. There is a bar in the back which we didn't go to, large screen TVs. Service: Very quick service. You have to take your own menu and then order at the register. They don't take 100s though, Even though my order was $88. So no large bills here. Super friendly employees, positive attitudes all around. Food. Truffle BLT 4.0 stars. The bacon was a little too crispy. I've never said that before about bacon but it was. Needs a sauce with a little more flavor. The bread was spot on. Super crispy not soggy at all, fresh ingredients. It was nice. Truffle fries: 5.0 stars. Very good. Perfectly cooked. Chicken fingers: 4.5 stars. Cookie: 3.5 stars. My kid says it would be better if it was warmed.

Stopped in for lunch on a whim. The service was friendly, attentive, and patient. Focused menu and very well curated selection of beers. I ordered the truffle BLT and the ingredients were fresh, with generous bacon and the right amount of truffle flavor. The back patio is a true oasis in Evanston. I am looking forward to returning!

I finally made it to their brick and mortar in Evanston today. I had my usual, the BLT. My son had the burger with cheese. Both sandwiches were delicious the burger had great grill flavor and was juicy; it came with two patties. For drinks I had the ginger lemonade, which was so good with a ginger aftertaste. If you like ginger, you'll like this. My son had a fountain soda. We also ordered the truffle fries. I thought there was more to the truffle than sauce. I would've liked some shaved truffles over top, especially for the upcharge. I paid $48 for our two sandwiches, an order of fries and drinks. This was an expensive lunch. I see this as a special occasion place for lunch and not a regular spot for food. The restaurant was light and attractive. They also had outdoor seating. Very fitting for a place in Evanston.

I loved this place when I lived closer to the Revival Food Hall location, so now that this is near our current place, I'm elated! If you like BLTs, you MUST try the Truffle BLT. It's insane...I crave it! I look forward to going back to try other items like the burger and the turkey. The fries are good, too, but the sauce we got with the black sesame seeds is one we'll skip next time. Also looking forward to attending one of their trivia nights! The space is really light and airy up front and the back room has a full bar with windows overlooking the outdoor space. Excited to try that out next summer! Service was good and the food didn't take long at all to be prepared and brought out to us. Plus, this location has beer if you want to imbibe. (Probably more but I wasn't looking to drink that day.)

High quality and innovative cocktails, reasonable prices, and a chic/classy ambiance make Ward Eight must-visit! I tried two cocktails when I was at Ward 8: Remember the Main and Vieux Carre. Both were decadent, delicious, and boozy. Triple threats! I loved them both, but the "Remember the Main" was different from drinks I've had before, so that was my favorite. My husband had a local beer. They have beer, wine, and NA options for folks who aren't into cocktails. They also have food which looks scrumptious, ranging from high-end appetizers to full meals. We did not come prepared to eat, so we'll have to come back again to try food in the future! The staff were welcoming and professional. The space was clean and Gatsby-style chic. There is plenty of seating and an outdoor space for when it is warmer. It is a fancier places, so prices are higher. But you pay for the higher quality ingredients and innovative recipes. If you enjoy cocktails and cozy cocktail bars, Ward Eight is definitely the spot for you!

It was written in Sharpie, stating they were closed for fall recess, and will return on X date. There was no notice on the website or otherwise. Such boorishness must be earned, I thought, and this place should be phenomenal! Unfortunately, the experience was overall lackluster. I ordered The Ward Eight House Shot, Rabbit Tale [sic], and the Classic Smash Burger from the Ben & Jake's supper club menu. The Ward Eight House Shot was interesting. This one was the most Angostura I'd had in one go outside of Best Intentions (Logan Square bar). A respectable shot and a good way to start or end an evening, however, $10 feels a little steep. As for the Rabbit Tale, the undoing of this one was the menu. This drink was described as "Zesty, Spicy, and Smokey [sic]". While not bland, it felt as though the volume on all of these was turned down to the level of a whisper. These hadn't just 'quiet quit,' they are halfway through week two of a two-week notice. To its credit, the drink was smooth, and while it didn't taste spirit-forward, the alcohol did hit me as one would hope for on a Friday night, thus no complaints about strength. Then there was the matter of food. The smashburger I ordered ended up being thoroughly unremarkable. The patty was not the greatest thing in the world, lacking those crisp edges that make an excellent smashburger, but otherwise passable. That was, untquietil I added the LTO served on the side (for some reason). After adding these in, the burger quickly fell apart, becoming a dégustation on the plate. Other than the house shot, and a small $15 burger without fries, I felt as though their prices were reasonable. Mixed drinks near the city, and not in a divey 'old-man bar' for $15 are relatively hard to find. When it comes to the service, I regretfully have to ding them a bit. Considering how quiet the bar was at the time, it took longer to get my drink than I would have expected. In a similar vein, the service felt a little disorganized, where the bar staff wasn't quite working as a team. Case in point: one bartender excused herself to step away, and the other did not step in to take my order for those five to ten minutes. Final verdict: I do appreciate reasonably priced cocktails, but the menu descriptions need to be taken with a grain of salt. As for food, I am willing to write off disappointment to the popup, and am not against trying something from their menu. All this said, I'd love to give them another chance, but I am also not in a rush to return.

At no time did anyone acknowledge someone was celebrating a birthday. My wife ordered the Salmon dish which comes with a bacon based sauce. She doesn't eat bacon and asked if they could use a different sauce. She was told No. So she had it plain, she said it was well cooked. The broccoli and potatoes on the other hand were overly salted, the potatoes were undercooked and cold, the broccoli was also cold. Normally my wife would have sent the food back, however, since she was with friends she didn't do so because she didn't want to ruin the mood of their celebration. Surprisingly, unlike most restaurants, the Evanston Corner Bistro doesn't celebrate birthdays, they don't even have a candle to put on a dessert. My wife decided she was going to celebrate with dessert anyway, so she ordered the NY Cheesecake with Strawberry sauce. It came out with something more like Strawberry Jam. My wife liked the idea of having the jam better than sauce. The problem was it turned out to be RASPBERRY jam NOT strawberry. Luckily my wife isn't ALLERGIC to Raspberries. She said the cheesecake was delicious. She did say it seemed to take forever for dessert to come out from the kitchen. Then there was a service charge added to the bill, but NO WHERE in the restaurant or on the menu is this mentioned. My wife also commented that there was only ONE server, and as more people arrived the service became slower. It seemed that the one server was just overwhelmed and didn't smile. In summary, and IMHO this isn't a restaurant for celebrating birthdays! Based on this experience my wife said she wouldn't go back unless she was going with a group of people who decided to go there. My wife said it's a shame Evanston Corner Bistro was one of her favorite places.
