    Breakfast quesadilla
    Lyn L.

Not many places are open in the winter months especially when the temperatures dip below 40. We wanted a late breakfast early lunch and pancakes were calling our name. Another thing to note is most places that are typically a local favorite are closed in Tuesdays. We drove into their massive lot and didn't see any cars. Yes, it was 11:00am but they didn't close until 12:30p. Typically this family run restaurant does a cafeteria style line but off season it's table service. Yeah for us! Food was cooked made to order and SO delicious. I opted for a breakfast quesadilla and a side of pancakes(2 for the senior option). The salsa on the quesadilla was super tasty hint of garlic and fresh tomatoes. The super short stack of pancakes went to my belly quickly, hope I got photos. Service was spot on. Yes, a couple more people came but our server managed everything perfectly. From now on, we won't be driving to the Nags Head location, because I'm bumping the starts at this location.

Line out the door when we got there around 900-ish on a Sunday morning on our way back home. The line gives your large group a little time to figure out what you want (the menu is on the wall) in this cafeteria style establishment. Bathrooms located on your way out (one entrance and one exit for the patrons). No descriptives other than the food was fine and the service was fine (I can sympathize with the straight faces in the heart of a rush). PSA: for those of you with nut allergies, part of the secret sauce is Vanilla Nut Butter. It's in the batter and despite the "it's up to you risk" suggestion from the staff, we decided not to. It wasn't so forthcoming - no signs or mention until we asked at the cash register when we ordered. Is it possible that 10 people missed it somewhere? Of course it is, but just in case you missed it too, I'm mentioning it here. Happy pancaking!

    Omelette with a biscuit

Took the family here for breakfast while vacationing in the outer banks. We enjoyed the food and the service so much we came back for a second round a few mornings later. Cafeteria ordering and then they serve to your table which allowed for quick service for a crowd. The man who took our order was kind, quick, and friendly. The service was superb and the breakfast was definitely above average breakfast diner food.

    Steak fajita omelette

Came here for breakfast as a tourist of course. Spent about $40 on the omelette, short stack pancakes w bacon and biscuits and gravy. Only thing that was ~decent~ was the pancakes. Hash browns, steak fajita omelette and biscuits and gravy was all weird af. I'm not sure how it could be that subpar and people still go. Again, maybe if you just pancakes and waffles it would be fine. I read a review that said it seemed like canned potatoes for hash browns and although I've never had canned potatoes, I can see that being true. Bacon seemed like microwave bacon and steak fajita was not seasoned whatsoever. My boyfriend actually said the omelette tasted like ball sack. That's a bit dramatic but a very candid reaction.

Fantastic family pancake restaurant with huge portions of eggs toast waffles French toast and of course pancakes. Don't forget the breakfast sandwich option! Great family ambience, very casual and fun. Reasonably priced too.

Update: 5 years later and things are still the same. They could have a huge rush, but they know how to handle it. Food is good as always.

Probably the best pancakes I ever ate. The red flannel was great too. Off season, so full of locals gossiping.

Biscuits and gravy were great. Pancakes were best I have had. Split a red flannel hash brown - simply great and bursting with flavor.

Our service was great. But the food, sub par. Soft drinks were "odd" for lack of better word. So I returned it for a beer cause, why not. Sweet tea was so sweet that we had to dilute it with water. We can handle that. The food would have been great, had they used ANY SEASONING at all. Everything tasted as tho the kitchen lost all S&P privileges. I had the prime rib w/ au jus. Meat was tender and onions cooked nicely. But it definitely didn't match the description which was something like "on a hoagie bun topped with garlic and butter." It was not. Which would have really helped carry the no seasoning deal. Au jus, had great potential, just no flavor. I ended up eating the meat alone and left the bread. Wife got the Reuben. Which was overall ok. Much more flavor than mine. But only bc of the sauerkraut. Oldest daughter got the BYO burger, with cheese and pickle. The burger was clearly a frozen patty from the store. As clearly defined by the shape of the patty. She ate half and the other half sits in the fridge as I type, from 2 nights ago. (I usually eat all the leftovers) I leave this review in hopes that the management and kitchen staff will start to properly season their food. Arts has great potential. But not without seasoning!

You grab one tray per group, grab beverages and order your actual entrée at the end of counter. You can hit a QR Code while in-line to view menu or look at giant board along the counter. There never seemed to not be a table available so no worries and no need to send someone in to hold. Helpful Hint - Use the restroom when passing in-line as getting back to it requires going back past hungry customers waiting to order. Super friendly Staff and the Owner (Wife) is on the cash register. Super nice and very pleasant. Good Prices, Great Food, Great Service & for sure some of the best pancakes that I have had !!!
