    Pickle Brined Fried Chicken Sandwich
    Jon T.

We don't get to Sandtrap as often as we should. This was our sixth visit in about ten years. We always have a good experience here and feel that of all of the Sooey's properties, they are head and shoulders the best, Shipwrecks being our second choice. Sooey's and Simply Southern are off our list This time it was a Pickle Brined Chicken sandwich for both of us. These were huge chicken breast halves and we actually could have shared one. My chicken was tender and juicy, but she found hers to be a little dry and felt like it was not brined long enough. I would still recommend this choice. I was tempted by the brisket sandwich and by the Smoked Turkey. Maybe next time. Both are to be recommended. The fries are still not great. I just think they are cut too thick. My slaw was not as good as I recalled, with too much celery seed that made it bitter, and the cabbage was stale and strong tasting. The two side dishes aside, I resolved that when we want a sandwich or fish tacos, we need to remember to come here. This is always a pleasant and quiet place for a good lunch. We originally came because we look for places that are participants in the AAdvantage mileage program, but we like the food and keep returning. We still rate them a strong three stars.

We had another fantastic time at the Sandtrap during our vacation. Since we own a timeshare there, it's a yearly tradition that we look forward to. It's more than just a golf clubhouse; it's a great restaurant with delicious food, excellent service, and wonderful company. Check it out!

The food here was amazing. We went for breakfast and they had a variety of options. The food was really hot and fresh. The bacon and sausage weren't precooked meats and were so good. The pancakes were very fluffy and buttery and the grits were absolutely delicious. The restaurant is off of a golf course and was very cute and quaint. There's plenty of seating and it's very spacious. There's plenty of parking as well. The service was good and waitresses were very friendly. It just took awhile for the food to come out.

Solid Brunch Fare. Welcoming service - aka Southern Hospitality. Home fries could use some more spices imo

Shrimp Tacos were great. Just the right spicing in the dish. For $14.00 .. recommend.

Waitress attentive. Atmosphere was casual not too crowded. TV's surrounding bar area, plenty of seating. Would not recommend if you want a full course dinner. Very simple menu with breakfast and lunch being a staple.

I've were in the area for a long weekend with friends. My husband and I decided we wanted to go grab a quick lunch, so a Yelp search netted several chains but then we saw Sandtrap. My husband loves golf and my mom worked at a golf course when I was a kid, so we thought it would be fun to eat at an eatery that is adjacent to a golf course. When we arrived, the parking lot was pretty full, but the restaurant had just a handful of people. We took a table outside overlooking the first tee and watched golfers tee off. Our server greeted us and got drinks for us...a gin and tonic for me and an ipa for my husband. For our meals, we got a house salad with balsamic, the tea-brined wings and peel and eat shrimp. Everything was good. The wings had a pretty strong vinegar flavor and were slightly dry, but the flavor was nice. The prices here are pretty good! My mixed drink was only $6. If I lived nearby, I'd walk over, enjoy some good food and a reasonably priced cocktail.

I stopped here on my way back to Duck coming from Holly Ridge Golf Course to grab some lunch and a few beers. I found the whole experience very pleasant and the food appetizing, yet nothing to write home about either. I actually enjoyed the Buffalo Fried Shrimp more than the chicken sando. Perfectly fried and I couldn't stop popping them into my mouth. If you like buffalo chicken wings then you will like these guys. If you're getting an app with your meal, get this one. I thought the Pickle-Brined was pretty good. The pickles, potato bread, and crispiness of the breaded chicken were all great. I think an area of improvement could be made with the seasoning of the breading on the chicken. It tasted kind of bland and really held this sandwich back from what otherwise would have been a really good southern style fried sandwich. I did really enjoy the fries that came with it. Overall, it was a nice and refreshing dining experience after coming off an extremely hot round of golf. Considering how crowded and pricey some places in OBX can get Sandtrap Tavern had none of that. Overall a very positive experience.

For all the ratings and comments and price I expected something better. Home fries aren't even homemade. Grits are a joke.

A perfect sports bar environment. The food has never disappointed me. The bartenders are some of the best on the Outer Banks hidden gem.

This tiki bar, which opened its doors in June of 2024, has quickly become a hotspot in the area. During the weekends, the bar is buzzing with excitement and is always packed with people eagerly waiting to check in. The atmosphere is vibrant and lively, creating the perfect setting for a fun night out. I had the pleasure of trying their margaritas, and I must say, they were truly exceptional. The bartender at Duck Dive Bar really knows their craft and made some of the best margaritas I've ever had. They were perfectly balanced and simply delicious. One unique aspect of Duck Dive Bar is their Friday morning yoga sessions. For just $20, you can participate in a yoga class that includes a drink afterwards. It's a great way to start your day and unwind in a beautiful setting. I also appreciated that they had mocktails available for kids, making it a family-friendly establishment. The kids seemed to enjoy their drinks just as much as the adults enjoyed their cocktails. Overall, my experience at Duck Dive Bar was fantastic. From the lively atmosphere to the delicious drinks and friendly staff, it's a must-visit spot in Duck, NC. I highly recommend stopping by Duck Dive Bar for a great time with friends and family. First, the value for what you get on the seafood platter compared to the price, so worth it. Popcorn shrimp was excellent, they definitely bread it in house. Seafood Virginia was spectacular. Our party of 6 split up to avoid having to wait 45 minutes for a single table to sit us all. We were a party of 4 and another table of 2. We had different waitress and the one table was almost finished their meal before the other table was served even though we sat down at the same time. I was informed the scallops were chewy due to being over cooked and the soft shell crab was fishy tasty like they were not fresh and they cut a small one into two not coming close to filling the taco shell. The peel your own shrimp were also over cooked making it difficult to get the shell off. I will however say the clam chowder was delicious, the she crab soup was a little too rich for me to finish my bowl but was very tasty. The blackened tuna bites were amazing. However despite my meal being good the over consensus was not good.
