The staff was really nice. Cute decor on the walls that you could buy. I had a ribeye and it was good. My husband loved his fish. I would definitely come back.

I've lived on the OBX my whole life. Henry's has been a constant and reliable breakfast spot. They always have great food and good service. They just recently got Gluten Free bread which is nice. I got an Omelet which was delicious and my son got the French Toast. The portion sizes are big and very fulfilling. Inside the restaurant there is plenty of seating and a cute little gift shop which is where you pay. If you ever come down to the OBX be sure to check them out.

Fried Pickles appetizer - with ranch dipping sauce - $6.99 - super piping hot out of the fryer - so good and large shareable portion size!

Probably never would have known about Henry's had it not been mentioned to us as a place to check out for down home, comfort food cooking. We went for dinner but this place also serves breakfast and lunch and is open all year round. We're told it's a local favorite, not just for tourists and visitors. When we went, busy season had just ended so we breezed right in around dinner time and were seated immediately. My kinda way to have a meal out. ;) The place is right off Croatan Hwy so conveniently accessible in KDH not far from the turnoff to Ocean Blvd. The inside is pretty basic but saying that isn't meant to be a dig. We liked the homey, cozy feel of the interior and the decor. Very clean, neat and well kept up. Sort of like you've arrived at your favorite Aunt's house. But beware, Henry's is a pretty small place inside. Decent amount of seating (see my and others' pics of the interior) but it's really just one big dining area. I'm guessing during the busy season you're bound to experience a wait - but then again, where won't you experience a wait during the high season?? So if you're lucky enough to be in the OBX looking for a place for a decent home cooked meal out in the off season, highly recommend Henry's. This is where I'd come. The staff and our server were super friendly - you could tell the staff all get along and enjoy each others' company and have been there a while. No hesitation from our server when we asked what Henry's specialties are - she told us all the seafood (except the coconut shrimp) is fresh caught local (great to know!), the fried pork chops are popular as are their hush puppies that came with both our entree platters and I'm guessing comes with all their entrees (so good and nice to get to sample them without having to order a side of them!). The menu is a BEAST. They've got something for everyone (including a kid's menu). Apps, surf, turf, chicken, soups (apparently the she crab soup is also a specialty), sandwiches, salads and desserts. All categories of food. For dinner, there's a long list of shareable apps - we ordered the fried pickles that came out golden brown, piping hot and piled high on the plate with a side of ranch dressing for dipping. They have a ton of seafood options including an all-you-can-eat option. Not as "fancy" as Captain George's seafood buffet but also not as $$$ and not as touristy and more of a menu variety than Jimmy's seafood buffet in a nicer setting. Prices are decent. I mean yes you're in a tourist beach town but it's also just as much a local joint so they're mindful that locals need a place to eat out without draining their wallets. Pay in the gift shop at the other end of the restaurant - a la Cracker Barrel style. The gift shop is actually pretty cool. Lots of beachy knick knacks as well as Henry's logo'ed t-shirts and apparel. Try Henry's. There's a good chance you'll like it.

This one was a couple of months back. Henry's is almost always our stop on the way home from vacation. The decor is beachy and comfortable. They can handle large groups and the service is efficient and friendly. The food is tasty and filling. We appreciate our visits here. They have a nice gift shop as well. Check them out!

    Club Sandwich

Ate lunch as we were too late for breakfast (past 1pm). I had the Crab-cake platter with cole slaw and potato salad. Absolutely delicious. Husband ordered Club Sandwich with a fruit bowl (which is strawberries with whipped cream on the side.) Daughter ordered a grilled cheese sandwich that came with fries. Both were good. Husband was still hungry after finishing his sandwich. The women's bathroom was nice and clean. The men's bathroom door was wide open and I'm not sure if the door was off it's hinge. Waitress was pleasant and helpful with any menu questions.

5/5! After a nice night out in OBX, our group needed to get some breakfast in us before the day started. We stumbled upon Henry's Restaurant, so we gave it a try. The Food: I went with the "Steak and Eggs" for my meal. I was looking for a big meal, and this did the trick. The steak was cooked nicely, although a little thin, it was tender and delicious. The eggs and hash browns were cooked to my liking as well. It comes with two pancakes as well, and that was good. The Service: Service was great! came in on a busy morning so we put our names down and waited to be called outside. The staff were very friendly and attentive with our group, so that was nice. The Atmosphere: Plenty of seating inside. Nice and homey. Overall, a 5/5! The staff were friendly, the service was great, and the food was delicious. I'll be back for sure!

Obviously the menu. They also have it outside so you can be warned.

I talked Ms T into trying it again. We just can't handle a big lunch and wanted to avoid leftovers, so decided to split a pickle brined chicken sandwich with fries and an extra side of slaw. The sandwich was OK. To start with it needed more seasoning. How about breaking out the black pepper and garlic powder? The meat was uncharacteristically tough/chewy for chicken breast. I suggest they need to be pounding it to tenderize it and then brine it. It was actually hard for us to cut and eat. It really looked nice, but I think I am done with pickle brined chicken. It just never gets enough brine impact. They make good small caliber fries that were piping hot and the slaw was fine for me. Ms T did not care for it so I got it all. Our food was OK, not stellar. The service was excellent, but I still can't make this better than three stars. I hope to convince her to return for a burger during this trip.

Neither one was worth the money. Everything is expensive anymore when you eat out, I don't mind paying if the food is good. The soup had no signs of fish or seafood in either serving. It tasted like a spicy vegetable soup. It was good but no fish and not worth $9. The Quinoa bowl was average, tomatoes were spongy and tasteless and 3-4 pearl mozzarella balls. How is that $19? Very disappointing. I gave 1 star for our wine and our waitress Emily did an awesome job. She was prompt and took care of all the tables in the dining room. She did a fantastic job ensuring we had everything we needed. It wasn't her fault for the food. We are both locals and wanted a girl lunch, and appreciate the challenges restaurants face. Trio is always busy So not sure why today's food was so poor. I still bought wine at the store, again great shop.

Shipwreck's serves excellent shrimp that are large, fresh, plump, lightly battered, fried perfectly and salted just right. They do a very good job on the fried food that we had and there is much more that tempted me. I don't think that the slaw was quite as good as what we had the previous time, but still a bug improvement over what it was a couple of years ago. Again, I don't know if this was a conscious change or if they are just very inconsistent. I'm pretty sure we will remain customers and I am increasing the rating because they do serve excellent seafood. The slaw cannot be the driver for the rating.
