This year we came in for the fried pickles based on other's reviews . I was disappointed. Pickles were either over battered or under cooked. I think they could have been cooked a little bit longer for mor crisp and maybe they wouldn't have been so doughy. Thank goodness we asked to have the hand cut fries crispy because I think they came out at a regular crispness. The burgers we're good though. The bartender was our server and she was great. I've never actually been in to sit down and eat here until about a month ago. Usually just get to go wings (which are always good). So a friend and I decided to go eat out on the patio. Drinks were fine, and our server was a sweetheart. I ordered the crabs cake sandwich and a house salad. She ordered The chicken Chesapeake wrap. My salad comes out...it's all iceberg lettuce (and the shittiest parts of the head). No romaine at all. The tomatoes looked like they were a day from being unfit for serving, and they pour white onion on there. But I hadn't eaten lunch that day and was a few drinks deep so rolled with it. Our entrees came shortly after. My sandwich, the bun dwarfed the small crabcake. And the crabcake itself was mostly filler and just not great. My friends wrap was equally unappealing. The chicken used was the Tyson pre-cooked with grill marks. There was an absurd amount of old bay on it. I had a bite, it was to the point where it was just plain salty. So despite less than mediocre food, we rolled with it. Drinks were good and we were having a good time catching up. The next day, I was violently I'll and stuck on the toilet. Text my friend, and she was having the same woes. The only common denominator was we both had something containing crab meat. A co-worker of mine warned me not to eat there (fine spot for drinks) as he used to be a part of the kitchen staff. Albeit 5-6 years since he had worked there. But apparently they were instructed when boiling crabs to toss dingy dead ones in if they came across them. Among other stories I heard (which are word of mouth so I won't get into it). But makes perfect sense. In sum, great wings and drinks. But if you wanna maybe shit your brains out try some of the seafood. Won't ever be going back. read more

Crabs, crabs, crabs. That's what I came for, that's what I got. They only had small crabs available the evening of my recent visit, and my parents and I got a dozen. They were small for sure, but bigger than what other seafood restaurants in town might sell as large. The crabs arrived hot, with a generous sprinkling of Old Bay and vinegar on the side, in tiny plastic containers. They were meaty and superb! We ate every single one of them, even after we've crossed our fullness threshold. The price wasn't too bad either -- $45 for the dozen. Unfortunately, the other items we tried weren't as great. My dad ordered a cup of chili, and it tasted like canned chili. We also got the crab bruschetta, which was basically crab, tomatoes, onions, and melted cheese on a flatbread. I guess I didn't expect it to come baked on a flatbread, but anyway, it wasn't disgustingly bad or anything -- it just wasn't very well executed. Service wasn't the most efficient or attentive. We waited a long time before our server approached us for the first time, and there were huge gaps between beverage refills. They were too busy for only two servers that evening -- and the other one was also manning the bar. Very relaxed, cheery atmosphere. The crabs are a big reason to go back, definitely. My dad raved about their chicken wings, too, so I'll make sure to try those next time. read more

Welllll..Came in on a Friday night and not busy. Able to seat ourself in a booth and waited around 10 minutes to be greeted by our waitress who gave us warning she "was new". We ordered an appetizer and a sandwich. WAIT WAIT WAIT. 45 minutes later the appetizer arrives!! Then comes the sandwiches. The person with me ordered a side of fries and my burger was to come with chips. Welllll, that surely that didn't happen. My burger came with fries and the person with me asked for his side of fries. The waitress said "it seems they put your fries on his burger, can you just eat it off his plate?" Oooooook, well I was waiting for my chips and they never showed. Get the bill and charged full price for a side of fries and it wasn't even a side! The waitress asked if we wanted dessert which we kindly declined and she said "what you don't want to wait an hour for dessert". First time and last time. read more

Spent the evening at Stadium and the atmosphere has changed and not in a good way, a waitress was actually yelling at the patrons at our table. I was shocked that she would talk to us that way. We came and sat in their outdoor seating area. I was nervous because it was my first time sitting in to eat since the virus, but it turned out to be okay! We sat in a corner in the back, and tables were taped off every other table or 2 for social distancing. They had paper menus, and the silverware came in plastic, that had to be thrown away afterwards. The food tasted great, and there was nothing wrong with it! Nobody was wearing masks that i saw besides the other 3 people i was with, not even the workers. but had a good time and the food was good. i'd recommend if you aren't so worried about the virus. read more

The food is always very good, and this is a very comfortable place to eat, chat or whatever. They need to work on their service, (possibly full staffing) . I ate there today, and the girl got everything wrong, wrong and wrong. She was more comfortable behind the bar trying to look pretty. Kinda pissed me off after she couldn't stop messing everything up, (and really didn't care) She was a train wreck, but someone must have liked her. Got the catfish broiled. Wow! Huge thick piece of catfish. Cooked and seasoned perfect! I wanted fried but not supposed to. I'll get that again. Fast friendly service. Minor problem was corrected immediately! Very impressed. Beer is fresh and ice cold. My girlfriends mixed drink she says is in top three best ever. Her shrimp alfredo was a very good sized portion too. I got steamed shrimp too. Awesome! Prices are fair I think. I felt it was worth it for the quality and quantity. What a great place. read more

Seafood soap, very salty I can't even took a full sip. Cobb salad with crab is plain green iceberg lettuce with avocado slice onions and cucumber and fried tortilla come with small container of the your choice of dressing. Crab mushroom were not what expected it just a mushroom top with very little crab meat and cheddar cheese not so appetizing. read more

I moved to this area several months ago and have been looking for a restaurant that has a wide variety of seafood. Specifically, steamed crabs, steamed shrimp, and oysters. Stadium Grill and Tavern fit the bill. I gave Stadium five stars - this is why: 1) They have what i consider a very nice location. They are on a quiet street. The parking area is ample. It is easy to access the parking lot and easy to exit it. 2) It's a non-chain restaurant and that's what I like. 3) My waitress, Carissa, was super sweet, and attentive without being intrusive. She took the time to chat a bit with me about the restaurant, and the area. Being new, I appreciated that a lot. She came to my table to get my initial order within about 2 minutes of being seated. I had my beer about a minute later. 4) I found the stadium to be warm, cozy, full of nice people who were a variety of ages. 5) I ordered a beer, and 1 doz. raw oysters to start. BOTH were icy cold. The oysters tasted super fresh and delicious, - they were huge and I enjoyed them immensely. I DO wish they carried Shock Top beer though! =) I also ordered the crab dip and was not disappointed. It arrived very hot with a huge amount of toasted, sliced baguettes. The crab dip was perfectly cooked, lightly browned on top. The only small minus I will give is that it could have used a bit more old bay seasoning - other than that? it was amazing. 6) The music selection was really great. At first, I was thinking it might be all country - but soon, I realized they were playing a varied selection. They may have had a jukebox - which would explain that - but I didn't see one when I was there. 7) Even though it is still Winter - I visited the outdoor area to see it and I'm sure it will be packed when the weather warms up. I can't wait - it just looks like the perfect place to enjoy seafood with friends! Lastly, the restroom was super clean and had a really nice, pleasant fresh scent. (and yes, i'm including this information because it's important) I have been looking for a restaurant to call a favorite since I moved to this area - and I think I found it here at the Stadium Grill.! i recently introduced my wife to the stadium, She had never eaten here before.. She ordered the steam pot and fell in love,everything with the exception of the oysters (where alittle gritty) were awazing.. I ordered some of there wings which are some of the best ive ever had! Not real happy with this place. Drove 3 1/2; hours from out of town to meet friends in Hagerstown to go out for crabs as we had planned. We had reservations and we asked if we could reserve crabs when we made the reservation (we would even pre pay for them) and we were told they don't do that. Got there at our reservation time, 6:30, and server told us they had two dozen crabs left....We'll take em! however she came back and informed us they were out. Very disappointing for sure. We decided not much you can do so we ordered hot wings and Old Bay wings, which are very good, two pounds of shrimp and two pounds of snow crab legs. All were okay, was not impressed at what $40 worth of snow crab legs look like though, four clusters. As we were getting ready to leave, we noticed 4 tables in the bar area being served crabs. We asked our server how could they get crabs and we couldn't and she told us they reserved them. We explained we tried and they would not reserve them and we were told they were "good friends with the owner" So, if you want crabs, you must have to know the owner who will hold them for you and if you are a regular paying customer, to hell with you. What a lousy business practice....In the past I have taken business associates to feast on crabs and seafood there and dropped some pretty good cash doing so. I give Stadium Grill & Tavern 5 stars simply for the crabs. I have gotten crabs from a few spots in Hagerstown. They had the best quality crabs I have had thus far. They were large, meaty and seasoned well. I had been searching for crabs of equal quality like my favorite spot in Baltimore. They are similar in quality. I ordered the crabs to go, therefore I have no dining experience here. This is now my go to spot for crabs. read more

I havent actually tried the restaurant but I ordered a half bushel of crabs from the crab shack which is their to-go for crabs and they were excellent! It was $125 for a half bushel and they were hot and steaming when i came to pick them up! Great customer service, very friendly guys in there. The crab shack is cash only, no debit/credit cards or checks (not sure if the restaurant is the same way). Crabs were sweet and meaty when i got them home. 5 stars all the way!! read more

Their website says the next time you're in the mood for great seafood to go there. Well that's if they decide to let you have any. Hopefully when you go the crab Gestapo aren't on premises. I decided to take my mother and 2 little nephews there for steamed crabs. We get there and find out they are out, but have some coming. Was told they would be there at 5 o'clock. It's 5:30 and no crabs. We decided to get appetizers and wait a bit more. We finish the appetizers. It's 6 o'clock and no crabs. My mother is diabetic so she needs to eat soon. So we decided to order other fare. We placed our order and sure enough crabs arrive. I had no problem with any of this up to this point. I asked our very nice waitress that after our meal I would like 3 dozen steamed crabs to go. From my understanding you can get crabs to go from this establishment. She comes back and says "He" won't do that. She said "He" was worried about having enough for Sunday. I couldn't grasp what I was hearing. She asked several times and we were denied each request. I said is "He" in the business to make money or in the business to be an ***hole? Apparently not the first one. If I hadn't been there too long already I would have ordered the 3 dozen to the table then said we're full please pack these up.
