My wife and I decided to try this restaurant after reading the reviews. We enjoy seafood and good seafood restaurants are hard to come by in our immediate area. We started our meals with the cream of crab soup as an appetizer. The soup was excellent. It was filled crab meat and not too salty For our main course we had the stuffed flounder with crabmeat. The fish and crab were fresh and tender. This dish was also excellent. Our server Kenzie was pleasant, sweet and attentive. She explained many of the menu options and answered our questions patiently and thoroughly. Parking and seating for dinner can be difficult to find on Fridays and Saturdays because of the all you can eat crab legs offered on those nights. I highly recommend making dinner reservations for most nights. There is a bar offering wines, mixed drinks and beer. The outside of the restaurant is deceiving. There is seating for approximately two hundred diners. The back of the restaurant is set up like a cafeteria with approximately twenty four tables that can seat four people each. There are two smaller dining areas that can seat about fifty people each. The food I give five stars but the atmosphere I give four stars. The acoustics were not the best. We took off to Ohio late and didn't get very far, but, it was dinner time. Read the reviews and had to try it. I am glad we did. Clam strips were both nostalgic (I was a fan of the Howard Johnson clams) and incredibly tasty. The prime rib sandwich (a prime rib French Dip) was fantastic. The clam chowder was also wonderful. They say it's Western Maryland's place for crabs. Next time I'll order crabs. It was a Friday night and the lot was full and cars were parked along the street. Who gets fresh seafood brought to their door on a regular basis? This place. The reputation preceded it (Thank you, Yelp), and we couldn't believe how awesome this place is. Sat at the bar, and since I hadn't had my fill of seafood in Baltimore, I ordered the snow crab legs with the house mash. SO GOOD. The bartender was sassy (in a good way) and had a great rapport with the regulars. We just enjoyed listening to the banter. The gumbo is delicious and we always order extra large crabs whenever available. I occasionally order other dishes but crabs are our 1st choice whenever we dine here. Don't let the log cabin look dissuade you. The food and service are very good. We stopped in while out on a day of wandering. We weren't looking for anything fancy, maybe a burger or sandwich to refuel. We ended up ordering several appetizers and sharing. The fried clam strips were epic. I know you are thinking crispy bits at the bottom of the fryer. These were large, meaty, and lightly fried to perfection. The Chesapeake Potato Skins also were delish. A log cabin deep in the woods of Maryland, down a few two-lane roads and a couple that are just dirt. Could be the setup for a decent horror movie. Or, one of the biggest culinary surprises one could ever experience. Thankfully for me it was the latter. I came here to celebrate a family member's birthday and this is her favorite restaurant. Now you know I did my Yelp research and then combed their website before ever packing my bags. Rating was on point, website said this is their 20th anniversary (2024). And then I began pursuing the menu. Mushrooms stuffed with crab meat and served in a house white sauce. Now in case you don't know much about Maryland, just know that anything seafood related is going to be the real deal. No imitation stuff in these parts. I can't tell you what the salads or other non-seafood related items are as I did not waste time on such frivolous things. The stuffed rockfish immediately caught my attention. It is stuffed with crab meat, then baked and topped with a Chesapeake pan sauce. I couldn't drive up the Interstate fast enough. My next tell-tell sign was the parking situation. Every slot was full. Myself and a couple of others in our group parked on the edge of the road. Thankfully we had reserved their private dining area so seating was not a issue. This place literally is a massive log cabin. You walk in to wood everywhere! The fireplace was roaring (this was during the winter...in Maryland, so much welcomed) and the tables and bar was just as full as the parking lot outside. We worked our way around to what felt like a secret passage (actually just the kitchen area and such for the servers) then entered the private dining room. With the appetizer and main course predetermined, I began to ponder dessert. New York style cheesecake, home coconut cake, brownie delight, apple pie a la mode, and frozen custard. Now you see why I started the decision making process early on. The mushrooms were delicious! Again, when the ingredients are fresh and everything is made in-house you can count on quality results. Now that rockfish, a work of art! I took my time (as best I could) with every bite. I can't speak directly to the other dishes, but I will say a few ordered the all-you-can-eat crab legs and others the fresh oysters and everyone was full and happy at the end of the night. I went with the apple pie a la mode to top off the meal and I am glad I did. Quantity and quality. Also, the team here are top notch. Quick with a refill or another drink, food orders come out quick, and recommendations even quicker (that's how I decided on the apple pie). Spousal Unit needed to travel to Hancock to pick up some fabric for a traveling quilt show and asked me to come along for the ride (i.e., drive). It was dinner time as we were heading back, so we looked on Yelp and Jimmy Joy's Log Cabin Inn. We decided to try it - and are darned glad we did. Ambiance: it's a log cabin, cozy, with comfortable chairs and table. Not too loud, not to dim, JUUUUST right for my oldish body. Lots of things on the menu, but what was intriguing was the emphasis on crabs. Not what I'd expect being a few hours from the Chesapeake Bay. Looking around at other diners, many - most - were eating crab dishes, so when in Rome... Food: I asked the waitperson for recommendations; she said crab cakes and crab stuffed potato skins were her personal favs, and added that the crab cakes were at least as good as where she grew up. I asked "Where" was that - and after a few more questions, found out we came from the same neighborhood outside Baltimore. So I knew that she knew her crab cakes - and she wasn't wrong. Broiled cakes made with lots of jumbo meat, very little filler, lightly spiced just to emphasize the sweet meat of the crabs themselves. Excellent choice! SU had the potato skins stuffed with a crab imperial mixture, which she pronounced as "yummy". Portion sizes were good (I scarfed mine down but SU took a few home). Value: very reasonable cost for an excellent meal. Would I drive 2 hours just to eat there? Probably not - but anytime I head out 70 past Hagerstown I will plan my travel around stopping. read more

Stumbled across this place on an overnight trip to the area. We were seated immediately. Everything we ordered was fantastic. Prime rib, steamed shrimp, fried haddock, stuffed mushrooms, frozen custard and cheesecake. Everything was perfectly prepared and tasty! The only thing we had a small issue with was the service. We've been here a number of times after riding on the WMRT and the food and service have always been excellent! Today was no exception! I reserved a table mid week for 14 of us, and despite showing up 30 minutes early we were seated and received immediate service. Started out with some delicious beers on tap, and then we ordered a whole variety of food, including crabs. Everyone was very happy with their meal! Considering that was 13 of us and we are all quite hungry after our ride, the service provided by Laykn could not have been any better! She was super friendly and incredibly efficient, she checked on us often and kept us happy! It's literally a log cabin (not sure how historic it really is) but the restaurant has been there forever. It's not super easy to get to but not extremely difficult either. It's perhaps not really "fine dining", but worthy of a local date for sure. The menu said they don't like complainers so maybe that explains why they charged us for the beers that we didn't drink because it didn't taste good. The server was pleasant but slow, appeared to be over-worked because she was not idle. The brisket was recommended; it was delicious. The crab cakes looked great but were backfin, not lump, and a bit fishy. We recommend local craft beers to compliment the Maryland crabs, or even one or two imported beers. Stopped here on a Friday night on a drive east. Had seen the signs for it along the highway - but until looking on yelp, never really thought it was my speed. Off a major highway on a small road, large parking lot and what looks to be a largest addition added recently. We were sat in the dining room upon walking in and there is a large bar area as you walk in. The place seemed clean for the most part, despite having crabs and people making messes of their tables and the floors around them. Ordered a crab and artichoke dip which - was pretty lacking. It was pretty much crab, artichoke, cheese, maybe some breading? No creaminess to it, no crab dip like feel- I think the recipe needs tweaked so it's more of a dip, no a hard entity. The chips it came with looked like they were at the bottom of the last bag. For the meal I went with the glazed salmon which - don't get me wrong was good, but the glaze was burnt on and it was pretty much blackened not glazed. I think of a glaze as a wet addition to a meat or fish- this looked like it was cooked too long. Came with asparagus - which was fine. Had a brownie delight for dessert which I only had a little of, was very tasty. Our waitress Miranda was quite nice and pretty attentive. The food gets a 5/5. We managed to show up when they were having their all you can eat Maryland crab. The seasoning on the crab was amazing. It was truly all you can eat. My only regret is that I did not buy a pitcher of beer due to how cheap it was. I also ordered the oyster po' boy. The fried oysters were magnificent. The oysters were perfectly brined, and fell apart in my mouth, but wasn't too mushy. It retained a great snap. The vegetables and the sauce on top of the po' boy were all fresh and complemented the oysters well. The lettuce was prepped correctly and did not make the bread soggy. Upon entering, it appears as if you are walking into a local bar. The people here definitely know each other. They put us in the back room where they served us the crabs. It appeared to be a banquet/events area, which at the time was filled with cracking sounds and people laughing and enjoying their meal. The place was packed at the time, and was well kept for how busy they were. Our waitress failed to give us the proper tools to eat our crabs, as well as the proper instructions on how to "pick" the crabs. We figured it out, but after some struggle and a few cut fingers, we were able to enjoy our meal. We took the lost meat of the first couple crabs as a learning experience. We also took the slight side eyes from the locals as a memory of the place. It took about 18 crabs to finally get it. It would have been nice have been taught from the start to fully enjoy my meal. Stopped by for a bite on our way through town, headed to New England. Our party odds 4 was seated immediately and we were offered the AyCE Crab, which we decided against but would have eaten if we were in the middle of a 16 hour drive. I got the crab cakes with asparagus and mashed potatoes. YUMMY, the crab cakes were filled with chunks and chunks of crab, they do not skimp. Husbands got the fried shrimp which he liked as well. Son got a kids cheeseburger which was hand pressed and cooked perfectly. Daughter got the kids chicken strips and she gobbled them up as well. Our server recommended the Brownie and ice cream for dessert which was delicious as well. Overall, giving this a 4 for the quality of the food in surprising location. They have a full bar and plenty of seating. Our server was attentive, friendly and had a big smile. If we pass through I would stop here again.
