Don't get me wrong, it's used, but not as much as it should be for the price it cost to build it, and all at the tax-payers expence. The bus shelters are long corridores with sliding electronic glass doors that allow you to get on and off the few buses that use the Interchange, the corridores are kept clean but they are cold due to there being no indoor heating system. Connected to the Interchange there is a medium size indoor building where you can purchase food, hot and cold drinks, newspapers and other stationary goods, there's clean toilet facilities as well which have CCTV installed. That must have been installed to make sure you pay your "PENNY" when opening the toilet door.

I recently used the 415 services from Middleton to Ashton-Under-Lyne, it did take a couple of minutes longer than scheduled but was still a comfortable journey, with USB charging and a friendly driver, he even had the radio on which was pretty cool as I've never known a bus to do this. They do only operate a small number of routes, most of which at irregular frequencies but they do serve many towns and areas which might not be served by other companies, even if it does mean an annoying detour for passengers, for example, the Middleton-Ashton route, seemed to be going round circles to pick passengers upon estates where it'd take 5-10 minutes just to come out what would normally be a 60 second trip down the road. I do think a lack of social media presence and the website being poor is a little annoying, they recommend going onto the TFGM website for timetables, they do have a Twitter account which was hard to find and isn't maintained often, but still, it's great to see investment in the North Manchester area with nice modern buses and friendly drivers. 3*

SUPERTRAM is Sheffield's modern day city centre railroad. Clean, warm, comfortable, affordable by…read moremost people and takes you from Sheffield City Centre to most of the city's leading attractions a lot quicker than travelling by bus or car. The only downside to Supertram is it does not serve all the outlying areas of Sheffield, nor does it serve the city's major hospitals.

Ashton-under-Lyne Interchange is a newly-built modern interchange in the town centre of…read moreAshton-under-Lyne, it is right by the Arcades Shopping Centre and IKEA. The Bus Station area is one of the largest I've seen in such a small town, they seem to have buses going everywhere. Destinations include Manchester, Stockport, Stalybridge, Middleton, Oldham, Rochdale and many others. It also includes the Metrolink platform which is on the Eccles via Media City UK line where you can get to Manchester a little bit faster, with services also going to Ashton West, Ashton Moss, Piccadilly Station and others. The toilets are pretty clean, as is the rest of the bus station. The one flaw is the frequency of the services, trams are every 12 minutes as standard however buses can be ever 15-60 minutes depending on the service, this is something I've found to be the case around Ashton, while they have many buses serving the station to have to wait such a long time between services can be really frustrating and there was no staff at the station to ask on the best bus to use. Most of the services from here are Stagecoach, but a good number of services also operate from First and Stotts. 3* - Modern Interchange for a small town with a good number of services, no station shop/coffee machine, poorly staffed and I also hate how it's constructed when a bus is terminating into the station, it really would make sense to use a few of the first platforms you see when entering the station, for services terminating, it's pretty annoying if you're getting off the bus and you have to go through the station, most other bus stations find a way around this so why can't Ashton?

Wakefield Westgate might be one of my favourite railway stations. It is a small but busy station…read moreand reminds me a bit of an airport in that way. It has got only two platforms that are in use, but there are trains coming and going all the time. What I really like about Wakefield westgate is that it has a lot of facilities: there is a manned info point, a cafe, a ticket office and a rather expensive shop where you can buy magazines, drinks (% also) and sandwiches. Outside the station the is a taxi waiting point and an ATM. There are also toilets, but I must say that they are very small (the mens, dont know about the other one). I also like the 'A Light Wave' artwork created by Charles Quick - makes the station recognisable in a split second.

Our friends who are in their 80 came to visit us via Westgate station and had booked assistance to…read moreget on and off the train. They were coming from Norwich and had 1 change, all worked until Wakefield where the message to help hadn't got through. They tried to get off the train but didn't manage in time and ended up in Leeds. I spoke to a lovely man who helped them off and then another helped them at the end of their stay. Meadowhall Interchange is a large Interchange serving the Meadowhall Shopping Centre, it is managed…read moreby Northern Trains who provide most of the services into the Interchange, however other services include TPExpress (Rail Services into Manchester), the Stagecoach Supertram (Trams) as well as some buses. The station and platform areas are pretty basic, similar to the size and facilities of a small town, there is a small waiting room that is relatively comfortable with vending machines, a seating area and Amazon Lockers and ramped access to all of the platforms. The Interchange is useful for providing rail and tram services into a basic station serving the city's large shopping centre, for those who are unable to attend via car (There is free parking), it also provides the easiest access into the shopping centre via the Supertram following the closure of Debenhams (This means that if you are using the South Tinsley stop, there is a long walk through the car park to get into the mall). 3*
