He was left sitting in the chair for hours. They moved him into the rec room and simply left him there. In excruciating pain. He had multiple cancers and was coming home for Hospice. I called repeatedly asking where he was. Every time I was told he was on his way, over and over for hours. I was afraid to drive over there and not be home if he arrived. They kept saying he was in transit! I spoke to many different people. Later I learned he'd been calling out for me ... I was told that the following day by a social worker when the blame was still being put on the transport co. I had every intention of filing a law suit over this. I don't care about the money, they can't get away with this ever again. I haven't yet because he passed and I'm grieving. To be revisited. DO NOT BRING SOMEONE YOU LOVE HERE.

Not the best experience, I was targeted by certain staff members and treated poorly at times. while…read moresome staff members were exceptionally helpful and supportive(Danielle, nick, Laura, Johanna, and Chantelle as well as the chef). The overall company was trying to get the most money out of my insurance as possible. I started off in the sober living facility and during Christmas time, I had covid over winter and had to take NyQuil and that was the first excuse for forcing me back into a rehab program that was not needed. My reason for being in the program in the first place was that I had 18 back to back surgeries over the past 4 years and was on opioids for a long period of time so this was a way to detox in a safe environment. There was no psychological addiction, just physical dependence to opioids. They lied about multiple addictions to medication(amphetamine addiction) that I was prescribed since childhood and used it to get more money through insurance. They also lied about an alcohol addiction, when I am medically intolerant to alcohol. When I got back to the sober living after this time I was talked about poorly among staff members and called "attention seeking" for asking for a few days off in order to visit 2 dying family members. Eventually someone in the group had consumed alcohol and told the staff which upset another client due to the unfairness and favoritism. This upset client gave me alcohol without my knowledge or consent and afterwards told the staff that I was drunk. This other client had been upset and doing things like this for 2 weeks prior to this incident. I believe he did this in order to prove a point that they will send people they dislike or with good insurance back to rehab in order to get more money. This client later confessed to me he had put alcohol in my drink without my consent and I had a reaction to the alcohol and was placed back into the rehab facility. I was put on addictive barbiturates and unnecessary medications for 2 days before my insurance denied coverage due to fraudulent services. The alcohol level was so low that there was no logical reason I needed to be there. I was then abandoned as a patient had had to find a new place to live in 2 hours or I was out on the street. Remember it's just a business. They don't actually care about you. They left another 2 of my friends on their own where one eventually fell into a coma following her abandonment. Something else they did was contact my pharmacy and told them never to fill any of my prescriptions ever from any doctor. I was no longer under their care at all. I'm a disabled person and this made it very difficult to obtain medication that I needed. This is a HIPPA violation for sure.

After looking at other options, Lake Balboa was clearly a step above, and they truly live up to the 5-star ratings they proudly display throughout the hallways. From the admissions team to the social workers, nurses, physical therapists, janitorial staff, and everyone in between, the entire team was professional, kind, and consistent. As a family member, you're not just "along for the ride" here. They keep you in mind too. You're greeted with smiles, updates, and they do an amazing job of quickly putting a name to a face. From intake to discharge, everything was handled smoothly, and even after my mom checked out, they were still helpful with the follow-up questions I had. The only downside: the food isn't great. To be fair, this isn't a restaurant, so it's not a dealbreaker, but it's worth mentioning. The easy workaround is that there are plenty of food options nearby, the location is very central in the Valley and easy to get to, and food delivery was what we leaned on. The facility also offered to store food in a fridge, which we did, and that made things much easier. If you or a loved one are looking for a care facility, I highly recommend Lake Balboa Care Center. They had many great activities. I even got a great manicure. The most pleasant surprise was the Chef. Retired military and one hell of a creative cook, especially the deserts (even though he is a 49ers fan) vs my Rams. When it was time to leave they helped me pack as I had brought way too much stuff (clothes). A special shout out to Michelle and Mark for taking such good care of me. Sorry it took so long to post but I've been working hard at outpatient PT.

The owner, administrators, nurses, aides, P.T. and O.T. staff, cleaners, food prepares, just everyone has been incredible attentive, compassionate and kind. I see that the staff get along with each other and have made friend with each other. They are happy working there and even travel long distances to work there which tells me they are treated well too. That means a lot to me! I have tears of joy thinking of how well taken care of my husband has been! They even recognized during his stay that something was wrong and perhaps he needed urgent hospital care. They insisted he be taken to the hospital...I believe they saved his life by doing that! Once in the hospital he was rushed to a further emergency surgery. When he was discharged from the hospital Pacific Post had saved his room and bed for him and all his things for him. They welcomed him back so lovingly. The food has also been good and the P.T. wonderful! They give him his meds everyday as directed, on time and correctly. Telling him exactly what it is he is taking.
