Childish cleaning service that no showed appointment twice. Talked to their office several times and confirmed date and time. I was having guests over at my house and I needed it cleaned...I called several days in advance and gave all the details...after they no showed the first time I called them back and they apologized for the mixup (Excuse was inaccurate contact info), and that they promised that someone would show up in the morning 8 AM sharp. The next morning once again no one showed up, I called the owner to see what was going on, and her response was that "It was never confirmed" and basically she doubled the price that was initially agreed on to send someone out that afternoon. The excuse was at first the old "wrong contact information" line and then evolved to "you complained about the price" even though we agreed on a price days in advance. Absolutely the WORST cleaning service I've ever had to deal with. Do yourself a HUGE favor and do not use them. They quoted us over the phone for 5 hours of cleaning, 3 ladies showed up to the property and were there for only 2 hours and NOTHING was done. The floors were not vacuumed/swept or mopped. There's dust everywhere, and the furniture was just pushed around for what reason, I don't know because the place wasn't even vacuumed. Naturally, I call the office to complain about the lack of service, they turn around and lie about the situation and start insulting the condition of my property, claiming that the bathrooms were so horrendous that it took them 2 hours to clean just that LOL. That's absolutely the most ridiculous thing I have EVER heard! As a real estate professional, we were seeking to make relationship with this company to give them more business by purchasing their services for our clients as gifts but there's no way I would ever suggest anyone to them. Total waste of time and money. Honestly, I'm still trying to figure out where my money went. I wish there was at least some part of the home that was cleaned enough to say, "okay.... well, at least this is cleaned" Best part, 1: They didn't offer to come back out and 2: They lied to the max and didn't even offer any refund, not even a partial. It's funny how time changes things... I used to love Standard Cleaning; I used to get excited to talk about them and then the truth was revealed! I called to see if the were running any specials, since I heard about them through Groupon and was asked well how much are you looking to spend, I said "well I don't want to spend more the $xxx", Ana said "okay" and sent someone out. The cleaning was no where near as good as the first one, but all my tissue and Kleenex were nicely folded... Called to find out what the hourly rate was and learned that I'd been over charged by $75! WOW... Now, Ana is not the most pleasant person... What happened? You can't be mad that I burst your bubble ma'am. That's poor customer service. Her response, "well you said you didn't want to pay more than that so that's what I charged you." Um yea, but I didn't mean charge me what I say regardless of what the hourly rate is sheesh! I was a long-time customer -- a decade or so -- but recently had such a negative experience with them that I immediately stopped the service. The problem began when I had a complaint about my monthly cleaning. Bottom line - it came to my attention that the cleaning person was watching television in my house. I knew this to be the case because the remote control and channel settings on both of the televisions in my home were messed up. (I was not home at the time nor was anyone else there that could have caused these issues.) This wouldn't have been a huge deal to me -- though it is very unprofessional behavior and not at all what I would have expected. The real problem came when I called the office to tell them what had happened. The person I spoke with was rude and dismissive, and, after a couple of back-and-forth calls, made clear that I was wrong. (I wasn't.) I asked if Ana, the owner, would call me and was told that my message would be communicated. I also asked for my key to be returned to me. After a number of additional calls, I was told that Ana didn 't think she needed to talk to me because she trusted her staff. Meanwhile, six weeks later and, as I said, multiple phone calls, my key has still not been returned. I was incredibly disappointed by this experience. read more

It started out good and I really hate to post this; but we as consumers need to know about 'bait & switch'. They started off with the 3 lady team and one speaking perfect english to learn our Home. It got worse over time with no calls to say they would be late or not there at all, 1 person spending a whole day (supposedly) in our house and leaving dust on everything including tops of TV, dresser, frig...you name it. Then the breaking of things like blinds, PC laptop cables, bathroom fixtures and FAILED to admit it. I called Ana (Supervisor/owner I guess) and she gave the ULTIMATE FAIL customer service response by saying that the cleaning person would have to admit to breaking the item in order for her to reimburse for it. NOT. If the cleaning person was going to admit to it; she would have done so. I also initiated a sign in log to know who was in my Home while we were away and when my daughter was out of school. They did it a couple of times, then acted like it meant nothing to them. It all feel apart when I caught the cleaning person throwing away my pet's toys and when I went to talk to her to ask her to stop; not only could she not understand me, she couldn't even interpret my sign language to stop it. I'm all for equal opportunity in the work force, but when you can't do your job by understanding my needs; you shouldn't be in my Home. They happily took a Christmas bonus that I gave to 3 of them individually during Christmas of $40 a piece, but after that; they were an epic FAIL. BEWARE...You've been warned! read more

Wow - I used them a couple of times and they use be be okay but this last time was the worst experience ever!!! So rude and disrespectful. First, when I made the appointment, I asked if they could please bring their cleaning supplies. Then they didn't show up at all when they were supposed to. I rescheduled for the following day ...and they didn't come with cleaning supplies. Then they decide to charge me more than they have ever charged me before - the lady just comes up with her own price when she feels like. When I made the argument that they have never charged me this - they accused me of being a liar!!!! It pains me to lower my review of them but honestly, i'm just not that impressed anymore. I'll keep hiring them, but I really don't feel they're worthy of a strong recommendation anymore. More of a neutral one. At first, it felt like "wow, i've never seen this house so clean!" They even did the work super fast - they'd have like 4 workers show up and be done in like an hour and it'd cost $100. Over the last few months though, I feel like they've really let themselves go. They are NEVER punctual. For instance, last month they called me at 8:00 AM on a SATURDAY to ask if it was okay for them to show up at 10 AM instead of 11 AM. Not super professional, way too early for a call, and then, they didn't even show up until 10:50 anyway. Today something similar happened - they called at around 7:30 (though this time it was okay since I was up and expecting them by 9 anyway) and said "hey, we can send one lady this morning, or we can have 2 come by if we move it to someone showing up between 11-12. Is that okay?". Sure, it's okay, but how the heck wasn't this figured out before 7:30 AM, the day of? And the 1 lady vs multiple ladies thing - At first, they always sent over at least 3. It would take maybe 90 minutes for them to clean the whole house and make it look good. Now, they often send just 1, so it might take her 6 hours! And of course you get tired/sloppy after that much hard work, so frankly the cleanings aren't as good. They miss spots, stuff gets put in illogical locations, it can be kind of a mess. Again - I'll keep hiring them, but I really don't feel they're worthy of a strong recommendation anymore. More of a neutral one. read more

I agree with Jennifer C.... best cleaning my condo has ever seen... but unlike her I am perfectly happy with the sticker price for the 'first' cleaning. I'd called around and this was pretty standard. As a single mom with a stressful job I had let the condo my tween and I share fall into squalor. I have had other cleaning companies in the past, but none have so far exceeded my expectations as Standard did. Ana was very accommodating with scheduling, the team was on time and pleasant, and they did a huge amount of work in 90 minutes. It's only a two bedroom, but it was filthy. Ooof, they were "recommended" to me but won't use again. Let me start with the positives. My stove range top was spotless afterwards and the person on the phone scheduling was very competent. That's it. I was WFH on a conference call when all of a sudden I heard people in my house and coming up the stairs. They didn't knock or ring the doorbell! When I tried to discuss our first time meeting/cleaning the place, they didn't even talk or introduce themselves. There was also a major language barrier so the 3 ladies didn't understand what I wanted when I tried to explain a few things . I had asked the scheduler on the phone to have them use my own rags for sanitary purposes but they didn't, they used theirs. Then, they used the same rag for multiple surfaces so basically they just pushed the dirt around and spread germs from one spot to another. The bathrooms also REEKED like bleach, so much so it burned my nose to breathe (and that's coming from someone who actually enjoys the smell of beach). I wonder if they just poured bleach around to make it smell "clean." I had to open up the windows and turn on fans when it was 40 degrees out it was so bad. There is still hair on the bathroom floor. They didn't shake the rugs. They didn't sweep the carpet stairs (I sweep the stairs about once a week myself, why didn't they?) Then I noticed they took out the garbage when it wasn't even full (I hate wasting bags)... why did they take out my garbage? Is this a thing? Honestly, I'm an excellent cleaner myself so I knew it would be tough having someone come in to clean for me when I know how meticulous I am but I can't do it all myself anymore. Bought a KGB Voucher for a 3-hour cleaning. Unlike many other cleaning services, had no trouble reaching them and scheduling an appointment. I called on Thursday evening to confirm my Friday appointment, and was told they would be there. On Friday morning, I left out cleaning supplies as instructed (they bring their own cleaning equipment, but leave it up to you to provide supplies - or you can pay a $10 surcharge). Friday evening, I came home to find my apartment untouched. Instead, the cleaner arrived first thing on Saturday morning, for which I was neither scheduled or prepared. It wasn't her fault though, so I cleared out of my apartment rather unexpectedly and returned home in a few hours to find my place thoroughly cleaned. They did a great job! I don't ever let my apartment get too messy, but like having a deep clean every few months. They delivered - cleaned the inside of microwave and fridge, removed shower buildup/stains on my shower curtain, changed sheets, etc. So final verdict - quality of cleaning was great; scheduling, not so much. read more

These ladies organized my closet, cleaned out my fridge (!!), gathered my magazines and arranged my makeup. They even found things I thought long lost. I've used their services for years but the customer service from the owner has consistently been piss poor and I refuse to pay for the service anymore. The She thinks she's the only one that can do the job for the price but her tone and speak is insulting and she will blame you for any wrong doing. The last time I used them I noticed red spots on my kitchen floor. One spot was big like there was a chemical spill. I reported to her and she insisted I did it and that it was there before. She proceeded to come up with any excuse even saying it was paint I spilt. Ok....what paint? The house hasn't been painted in 8 years. Needless to say I was going out of town the next day for 5 months. We went back and forth through text and emails showing pictures and she wouldn't come to fix my concerns. If you have insurance why not come and investigate? She got really irate with me and I with her. I said I will go to the BBB to settle this if you are not going to help or even come to a middle ground. I did and she didn't even have the decency to answer their phone calls or emails. After a few attempts the BBB doesn't peruse anymore. They funny thing is when I got back they spots were gone. I have no clue what happened since myself and a friend tried to wipe it up and it seemed like it was in the linoleum. If she would of just came or figured away to reconcile the dispute she would still have a loyal customer. Very poor way to communicate. Purchase at your own risk. read more

I also discovered Standard Cleaning Services via a voucher and was happily stunned by the efficiency and results of the two women who cleaned two floors of our townhouse (the lowest/basement level isn't ready for prime time). And ,although I didn't want them to change the linens (I may change my mind about that), everything else was thoroughly washed, dusted, vacuumed, etc. Of special note, was the awesome job they did on the sliding glass doors in our shower, which get filmy because of the hard water in Virginia. Betty, who led the team, was great so I asked for her again when I signed up for a monthly housecleaning (no, not the basement). She came with three team members and they went to work all over the house. [Note: For those who don't speak Spanish, the three team members' English was poor, so I communicated primarily with Betty, although I could converse somewhat with my limited Espanol with the others.] I'm also adamant about their using my cleaning products (non-toxic), which was fine and our place looked (and smelled) great when they were done. Cost: $120. I also gave each of the 4 women a $5 tip, which is fair to me, for a monthly cleaning experience like this. Only complaint currently, is I didn't get a call when they were going to be more than 30 minutes late so I had to reschedule. But I think they understand they need to let me know in the future if they're delayed. read more

Just had a cleaning (3 hours, 2 maids, $150). Was not really considering having regular service, just a one time cleaning- but after they were done, we decided they need to be back monthly. They got things in my house cleaner than I could- I guess that is why they are professionals. Spotless. The communication with the company was fast and I was able to set the whole thing up over email- which I appreciated being able to do from work with out coworkers hearing me get an estimate, going over particulars and scheduling the service. I asked on a day if by any chance they had openings the following day, and they said no, but they'd let me know if they had any cancellations. Lo and behold, the next day they called me and said they'd had a cancellation. They came in like cleaning tornadoes. My whole house was whipped into shape - they did a fantastic job and even cleaned the refrigerator! I had a very recent bad experience with this company. Firstly, I will start with positives: The scheduler I spoke with was very competent and efficient. Secondly, they arrived on time. The negatives: They showed up on the wrong day and I didn't receive any phone calls. My front door was open and the cleaner entered my home without anyone present!! Who does that? I felt very violated to a point where I could not comprehend why this was OK in their mind. Essentially, the cleaner had been there for "6 hours" cleaning my home. I was promised up to 3 cleaners due to the size of my home and only one cleaner showed up. When I found out someone was in my home (the last hour of the 6 hours of cleaning time), I had to rush home from work really upset! When I arrived, my home was a mess! Nothing felt clean; it didn't smell fresh whatsoever. In addition to that, I had to reposition everything she moved back to it's former places. I was the assistant cleaner in this case when I am paying for the service?!? Another thing is, the cleaner didn't even get to the basement --nothing got cleaned. So, what did they do for 6 hours? Just "cleaned" the top two floors when it didn't even seem that clean? I write this so that you understand how this business is ran. Today my wife and I returned home to find that the cleaning person had dropped a porcelain spoon into the garbage disposal and turned it on, grinding up the spoon and disabling the disposal. The cost of repair or replacement is yet unknown, but we installed a new one a year ago for about $300, a high number because of the difficult installation. We discovered the problem when my wife attempted to turn on the disposal, and when it failed to turn, looked into the drain to find pieces of one of our spoons. What makes the situation worse is the violation of trust. The cleaning person, perhaps fearing the consequences, did not inform me or, it seems, Ana, the boss. The cover up being worse than the crime, I immediately contacted Ana for a sense of whether she feels compelled to provide a financial settlement. So I imagine that whatever consequences were to befall the cleaning person previously are now amplified by the deception. Use this service at your own risk. I'm hosting Thanksgiving in two days for two families shy a garbage disposal. Update: Good news is that the repair was relatively easy and cost nothing. So all that's left is the dishonesty, which was reason enough for us not to use the service again. read more

This is the best cleaning service I've tried yet... and for the best price! There have been a few idiosynchrasies with the scheduling, one of which might have been my fault. Again a few things I could have done without when it comes to the cleaning, such as a brillo pad left on my kitchen floor, but overall miles ahead of the competition. Used this company after seeing glorious reviews. Eh, its okay. They spend a lot of time with non-essentials (e.g.; cleaning the windows, rearranging my kitchen, dishes, etc.) - but I didn't mind that. I guess my biggest peeve was: 1.) taking forever, taking from 1130-330 for a small town house 2.) moving stuff around and not really placing things back in its place 3.) throwing away stuff at will; e.g., a small black rock we brought back from Hawaii was mistaken for trash, and thrown away All in all, I suppose they got the job done, but wished things were put back in place, and/or not thrown away. I went back to Standard Cleaning Services after a hiatus of several years and a move to a new house. My experience with them had been inconsistent but always good enough so that I called them back, impressed by how the business had grown and become more professional with a web presence, etc. The first cleaning was great, but I really don't know why my shampoo bottle from my upstairs bathroom got moved to the kitchen. Weird. Also, they did not clear cobwebs by the front door. Pretty obvious oversight.. After the second cleaning, I came home to find my wood kitchen floor covered in foam from my dishwasher -- obviously, the wrong detergent had been used and the dishwasher overflowed. I had to run it four times with water only to clear out the detergent. I emailed about this and got a response that did not respond to the issue that I found a mess on my floor when I arrived home, and did not take responsibility for that problem. We have been using Standard Cleaning Service for 8 or 10 years and always been pleased with the quality of their work and the fact that they come on time, never miss a day and will do anything I ask. We have the same person every week and she is so hard working and pleasant to have around. No one else I know has complained, but maybe it depends on who you have doing the job. They will also send a crew to do odd one time jobs, and on very short notice. But of course, I always meet them and stay with them until the job is done. The first time they came out was great! I was super impressed, however I was told that my first hour of cleaning would be free as part of the new costumer deal, three women cleaned for 45 minutes, and yet I was told they were there for 90 minutes and had to pay. The next time they came they were in such a rush that I could have cleaned better than they did. When I wrote of my dissatisfaction I received no response. I was excited about hiring this company to clean my apartment because of the reviews, but I was also nervous that they wouldn't show-up so I wasn't all that surprised when they didn't. I did make the appointment the week before and confirmed the day before right at 4pm which might have contributed to the issue, but I have an email stating they would be there. I waited around a while hoping they were just running late because of the snow, but they didn't show-up. It would have been okay if Standard Cleaning would have called and canceled because of the weather.. but I heard nothing. Peoples' time is worth something and not calling and just no showing, to me is a bad business practice for a service oriented company. Guess I have to start the search over.
