If you are within 30 miles of the Standard Gastropub this is a worthwhile trip for dinner or lunch. Summer is high tourist season in Maine so plan your excursion accordingly because this place was packed but we were a small party so we're able to get seating at the bar. Not sure if they take reservations . It is a modern low light ambiance in the eve; noise level was medium. The crowd was mostly 25 years and up; not best suited for toddlers or babies. There maybe outside seating being constructed but on the day we went there was none. I expected pub food but I was just amazed by my brisket sandwich. Best brisket I have had outside of Texas hands down. If I wasn't so stuffed I would have had another one.... it was that good! We also ordered the hamburger entree which got a big thumbs up. And the Brussel sprouts were a great crispy (although a tad too sweet for me) texture. The fries were just right to accompany the sandwiches and you can supersize them for a larger portion size. Regional Beer on draft as well as a slew of bottles and cans that are displayed in large refrigerator along the side wall. Pick your poison! The DIPA recommended was very good accompaniment with the food. Service was efficient and friendly. Definitely will head back there for that brisket sandwich again. This place is SO. COOL. My partner and I have stopped here a few times, as we typically go to Pleasant Mountain to ski, and this is a great stop for some food. First off, Standard's venue is an old gas station which has been gutted out and transformed into a small, casual, and modern establishment. There is a small bar, window seating, and small tables for patrons to sit at. Along one large wall, there are coolers filled with local beer, cider, wine, and seltzers for patrons to purchase, whether they are eating in or taking out. The food changes weekly, though, they do keep some things frequently on their menu. I have tried the fried chicken sandwich, the poutine (if you are eating it yourself-get the small portion because it's still huge), a miso mac n cheese, corn dip (which I'm not a huge fan of corn, but this was fantastic), and steak sandwich. Everything is house-made and fresh. Again, because the menu changes weekly and because of the quality of food, I get excited to see what is on the menu to try something new. Lastly, the service is always top-notch and friendly. Each time we have been here, the service is attentive and we always end up chatting with the servers. We stopped by on the way to North Conway, NH. We were a party of four and ate outside. The staff was very attentive and the food came out quickly. I had the smash burger and was very pleased with the flavors and freshness of the the bun and ingredients. I liked it in here, for what it was. Stopped in here while wandering around Bridgton and popping into anyplace that was open for exploring. This is an actual gas station, which is cool. There is a small bar area, and some tables. As others mentioned, there are a ton of beers to look through in their coolers, but you can't open them in the pub - a little bizarre. Though luckily, they had items on draft! Including Substance! Yay! The staff here is amazing. Super friendly - they greeted us warmly when we walked in the door and continued to have great conversations with us throughout our visit. I got the special, which was housemade chips with a sauce - it was super duper salty. I really couldn't eat the chips. Sorry! ANGER MGMT When I was closing out my tab at the bar, handing back the signed credit card slip and holder the pen fell off the holder and dropped behind the bar and apparently fell into the ice behind the bar. The person flipped out and glared at me as if this was somehow my fault. Very passive aggressively yelled at another employee (b/c they were mad at me) to "KILL THE ICE" & proceeded to put all of the various mixers that were sitting in the ice right in the space where I was actually still enjoying my final beer, while the other person emptied the ice out and replenished it. Also made a very rude comment about me under his breath to another employee. This was not the original person who waited on me (who was lovely) it was someone else who close me out. Relax bro & don't act like a petulant child - it was 50 / 50 whose fault it was - you dropped it just as much as I did. I handed you a bill with the pen penched to it by my thumb and it got dropped on the exchange. It's a cost of doing business when you choose to put the ice there. The Standard was what partly drew us to fall in love with Bridgton. Hands down the nicest staff you'll ever find. They helped make the cold days of Covid bearable by continuing to offer their simple but amazing regular menu items - and it continues to be a treat seeing what new things they try for their specials. The occasional appearance of their ramen was worth the 3 hour drive from Boston. Other favorites include the brisket poutine and their take on the lobster roll; the newest treat I've enjoyed was a tuna crudo. But when you're craving a good old fashioned burger, you can't go wrong here. We picked this place after viewing a couple menus In the area and thought this was a good option.. so let's start with the good things. They were open for curbside service and it did not take very long. The staff was very helpful.. The French fries and goddess dressing were delicious, fries crunchy not greasy. The Brussels sprouts were tasty but a little soggy and a fairly small portion. Speaking of small portions the local green salad was $5.00 and was a big disappointment. It was just a couple pieces of organic lettuce and nothing else. The dressing was kind of bland as well. We took I it to the lake for a picnic. It was takeout but no utensils or napkins, luckily I had a spork with me but my friends were eating there lettuce with no utensils. I am sure this will improve with time but they could definitely make the portions a tad larger for the price. The chicken and burger were fine. So delicious. We went on a vacation week Tuesday and it was busy at 2:30pm. There was a 10-20 minute wait but we could wait in our car. If the weather was nicer, they had plenty of outside tables and those who were dressed for it, were sitting outside. Huge beer selection - stouts, IPA, drafts, lambic, cider, Miller Lite and PBR for your dad who doesn't drink craft beer, juice and water for the kids who don't drink craft beer, and even wine and cocktails. We got a Ciel du Dieu collab with Alchemist that was to die for - you can even buy beer to go and it's $1 cheaper for takeout. It is super basic inside with waiter service, small tables and a huge wall of beer cases. The star is the food and beer. We had two burgers, poutine and fried brussels. The smash burgers were so good - we got them as is with aoili and special sauce on the side. My only complaint was that the cheese curds were cold on the poutine - my husband preferred this way but I like them slightly melted. Either way, we were starving and ordered a second order as dessert. They are building a huge outdoor space hopefully for summer and I cannot wait to come back. read more

I got to try new to me seltzers that were delicious! I enjoyed my burger and my group had Brussels sprouts, fried chicken, and the beet salad and everyone was satisfied with their meals! Every time I drive through Bridgeton, Maine, I see this little Gastro pub and think "I want to try that place." But for some reason I never either have enough time or I eat before I get there. So finally, one day after hiking pleasant mountain nearby, we decided to head into Bridgeton for dinner. Unfortunately, the downtown has deteriorated quite a bit in the last year or so. There are a lot of vacant storefronts and not many restaurants. Luckily, this spot is still there, because they are holding their own in the beer and restaurant scene. We had excellent service from a lovely server who clearly enjoys his job. The Brussels sprouts were excellent, dipped in green goddess dressing. The veggie burger and fries were great, served on ciabatta bread. And the smoked chicken sandwich had perfect flavor profile, with the slaw and aioli balancing out the smokiness of the meat. Their beer selection, both in house and to go, was massive. With a bit of something from microbrews all over the area, a nice draft and bottle list (everything in coolers, perfectly chilled) If Bridgton can make the rest of their downtown as cool and fun as this location, they will surely be on the mend. With a place this as a jumping off point, I hope other businesses aren't far behind. read more

The food and drinks here are excellent. My family loves going here every time we're in town. However we have always been puzzled why there is so little marketing or signage. I'm digging Standard Gastropub. For reals. I finally stopped in on a winter Saturday after having the place bookmarked forever. The setup is pretty basic - a bar, open grill/food prep area, some picnic tables and beer. Lots of beer. Beer as far as the eye can see! I'd scoped out the menu online so I knew I was in for a burger and fries - treats that I rarely afford myself - and I wasn't disappointed. You order a single or double burger and the single was a sort of big slider size - perfect for me. I also ordered a side of the jalapeno cilantro slaw which was out of this world! The fries were also really good - they had a touch of seasoning that I couldn't identify but made them extra special. For beer, I chose the newish Allagash hoppy beer on draft and for my second, after standing in front of the wall of beer for what felt like a 1/2 hour, I chose an old favorite: Pork Slap from NY state. The menu is pretty limited but they do have some nice nightly specials - make sure to check the chalk board before ordering from the menu. Beer selection is excellent and thoughtful. Service was a little spotty but they guy who had ended his shift but still got me a beer an menu was great. SG is a great place to stop after a day on the slopes but understand that this is very much a locals kind of place. Be patient and friendly and you'll have a great experience. One last note, I had some trouble parking, but there is a municipal lot across the street behind the bank that worked for me. Love, love, love this place and hope to visit again soon! read more
