Sadly there is not a minus stars for Roy optical ; Chrystal does not care -- she is the least customer service oriented manager (that just a title manager resolve problems for customers) We order &paid up front for contact in Late Sept, during which time i found contact cheaper, shipped over night.. Contact King is one of the online sites, The contacts arrived and are sitting in a drawer no call to let us know the contacts were in-- we had to keep calling.. My daughter lives near there , NEVER that busy They do not call you back when you leave a message. My grandson broke his glasses. Manager Chrystal informed my daughter insurance would not cover a 2nd pair. I called the Select H who had to CALL them to explain the SIMPLE paper she could send in. This whole process according Select H would take 2 weeks we are over a month the insurance does not have the paperwork from her-- So after i call Corporate yet again I will be finding a new EYE doctor My advise is the parking lot is empy of customer for a reason read more

Awful service!! Had an eye appointment back at the beginning of May in which I ordered my new glasses and it is now august and still haven't gotten them yet. They kept telling me that they are almost ready but no they haven't come yet. Now when I call the store they never answer and I have left multiple voicemails for them to get back to me!! I had been to this office years before and was not pleased with the service, I was not happy to have to go back but this is where my insurance sent me and I thought maybe it had been enough time they had gotten better but I was wrong. The office experience was okay, the gentleman at the front desk was pleasant and helpful but the optometrist did not seem very though. I mistakenly ordered glasses through them after paying I was told it could take up to a month to receive my glasses, well it's been almost 2 months and I can not get any answer when I call or a return call to just tell me if or when I will receive my glasses. I tried calling the corporate office and was transferred to the district manager voicemail, I left a message and still have not heard back from them. At this point I just want my money back and I'll find somewhere else that is happy to help me and want me as a customer. read more

My appointment was at 9:20 AM, I was told to be there 15 minutes before my appointment to fill out paperwork. They did not open the doors until my appointment time, Chrystal then ignored me and continued taking phone calls. She then told me she couldn't take my insurance due to the insurance I carry not having a member ID, she had dealt with them before and continued to fight me on it, I proved they do not have member IDs and she bypassed that part in her computer. After my appointment she informs me they can not get me contacts or glasses for 6 months. I opt in to order them myself elsewhere. Cue to now where I receive a bill for the full amount not covered by insurance because she didn't use my insurance like I thought she had. DO NOT GO HERE! The doctor was great but Chrystal will fight you on everything, provide awful customer service, and you will run way past your appointment times. read more

I went to Standard Optical at another location and hated it, just plain bad service. As time went on my glasses needed service, fortunately for me I had moved and was close to the Roy location. I was expecting consequently bad service. To my Amazement the service was above and beyond great. 1st, my nose pieces needed adjustment and they not only adjusted them but replaced both a so they would match. 2nd, A few months later my frames had an issue and instead of doing a quick fix and recommending me to purchase new they again replaced with new at no charge. Now my glasses got run over and really did need replacement, without hesitation told me of a currently running special which will save me hundreds of dollars. Go visit Shanda or any of her team who will take care of your vision needs and don't forget to have Dr. Ellison do your exam, he's another special part of the great crew. read more

My grandson has been going to standard optical since 2nd grade- over 6 yrs we had been extremely please with them till last October when the office hrs were changed by the new manager from 8 to 7 to 9 to 7 online sign was not changed neither were the door. My son went in to by my grandson contacts at 8 he had all but paid when the manager ran him out of the store to come back at 9, my daughter paid for glasses for her son -- she called repeatedly to be told they were not in then 3 weeks later she called was told if she did not come by that day they would be sending them back with no refund & when she got there the "Manager" (same one) told her it was my daughter fault no one had called my daughter they had no contact info--BS I know if the computer has the child name there has to be an adult name & number!! On Jan 15 I to the Roy store paid for a 6 mon supply taling upper $300 range (closer to 400) &nicely give a 5 day sample of contacts Now we buy 6mos to yr supply SO each Friday i have called to see if the contacts are in & I have been told they will be-- Yesterday Jan 30 I called at 10:49 to see if the contacts had came in over the weekend I was inform by the manager they had not & she was busy with a patient who need to see the doctor & did not have time for me. I ask if she could locate sample she told me my grandson could "wear glasses" & hung up. I called back around noon the other lady working was polite told me she was new & did not know how to check see where the contacts were but the shippment for the day had arrived & our order was not in it. I got online to contact corporate. I call by the manager told Corporate had called her to handle "it" meaning me. She told me she was busy, & that i did not understand gave me a long story about her day at this point i did not care-- She told me she take care of getting samples out of salt lake since i worked there-- I was off work & almost to Layton-- she finally calls has "samples from west pt store" she had gone out of her way for us is what she informed me-- NO you didnt you were trying to keep corporate from listenting to you tell a 6 year customer that you did not have time for them!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Corportate called today-- she following up on the location of the contacts -- depending on what they do -- will determine if is STAY with standard optical -- go to any location but Roy or if I find another Ophthalmologists. read more

Worst service ever, new to the area and they are the provider covered by my insurance. Did eye exam and two weeks later my glasses arrived. Went to pick them up and the bifocal part wasn't the right prescription and had to send them back. I also ordered contacts, guess what the left eye was the wrong prescription so had to go back and have that redone. The doctor lowered the power and ordered new contacts, went in to get the new ones when they arrived and they are the same as the old ones. Needless to say after four trips and needing to go back for a fifth one to exchange for the right ones I would say I'm done with Standard Optical. read more

This standard optical in Roy does not know what they are doing. Went to get my husbands eyes checked after being hurt at work. We advised them that the appointment and everything will be covered under workers comp. They still persisted in using our personal insurance and stated they were unable to use workers comp. We paid the copay. Then we received a bill for another copay. I called workers comp and filed a claim. Then I find out that standard optical was going to send us to collections for another bill which they never sent. We were furious. We paid it. I would not go to them. read more

I've had multiple problems with this location. Ordered contacts, kept telling me they weren't in long after they told me they would be. Went to pick them up, and they were for a completely different patient. They sorted it out, but it took several weeks. My biggest issue is that the doctor flat-out lied to me about my preferred brand of contacts. He was pushing me to try a new brand. I wasn't interested, because I was happy with what I used. He then told me they don't have them anymore, not just that Standard Optical doesn't carry them, but that the manufacturer doesn't make them, so I needed to find a new brand. So I relented and tried the ones he was initially pushing. Hated them. Three different fittings, trying all sorts of suggestions for solutions, give it time for you to get used to them, etc. Over a year later, I still hate them. And what do you know...my old brand is still manufactured and available pretty much everywhere. Bye Bye Standard Optical. I should have known better than to try to find a new eye doctor closer to home. read more

I have read reviews on Google and I disagree with them. I went in on a Saturday and I was not greeted and the ladies didn't seem very happy to have jobs. I met the optometrist he was very nice and did a great job. Once we finished the exams I was standing in the lobby waiting for directions or someone to tell me what I need to do next? The lady standing behind the counter doing nothing ( we were the only customers in the lobby and even worse the only customers in the entire store) the lady says "look for some frames" for one I don't know what I'm looking for and for two what else was she doing? I was not happy with the service and I explained to the lady who finally got up off her butt to come help me after I was already angry with the fact of us being the only people in the store and three women working behind the registers and nobody was willing to help. One week later I called the store to see if our glasses were done yet, because the lady that helped us at the store said that the glasses would be ready in about a week, I sat on hold for 11 minutes before finally someone got on the phone to ask what it was that I needed? I waited another 5 minutes for the Lady to get back on the phone to ask me the names of the patients again just to tell me that the glasses were not in and that they usually ask for 2 weeks for glasses to come in. I am very dissatisfied with this location I usually go to the location on Harrison and Ogden but because this location was closer to where I live now I decided to give this place a chance. Maybe the ladies there do a wonderful job for other people but my experience on two days in a row can't be wrong. read more

I went to this Standard Optical for an annual chcckup. I got good customer service and was seen in a relatively short amount of time.

Overcharged ($240) for a contact lense exam...pushy salesman doctor that wouldn't shut up about Lasik and how we have to buy contacts through him. I would never go back and never recommend them to a friend. read more

Expensive and horrible customer service. Originally had myself and daughter examined for new eyeglasses and contacts. I pre-paid for a years worth of contacts on 9/30 and still do not have my contacts. I did revisit because the original order I did not like. Before Thanksgiving I was checked and ordered a new set of contacts. On top of the three months delay, they sent me a bill for an additional $125 and this is after I had that additional amount removed by their manager. When I spoke to their rep today 12/11 and told her the circumstances she said "I guess you're saying you ordered on 9/30..." She 'guesses"? Does that mean there is no record of my order and subsequent visits? Don't waste your time or money. read more
