Last night, I attended a concert at Town Ballroom in Buffalo's Theatre District. I needed to park…read moresomewhere. All street parking was taken. I wouldn't know whether you could park there for free on weekends. It was metered parking. Instead, I spotted this Pay2Park lot across the street from the concert venue, separated by train tracks and an underground tunnel. At the lights, I made a u-turn and then took a right turn into this lot. I parked near a wall that had numbers on the wall. I then headed to one of the informational signs to figure out how to pay for parking. You pay for parking by either downloading the ParkMobile app or using the URL. If you are visiting this city and don't have a data plan, you could be out of luck. It's the one thing that I don't like about paying online -- not everyone has a data plan or can afford it, especially if we were in Canada with our expensive plans. If you are not technologically gifted, it could also pose a problem. Luckily, I do have a cheap data plan that I use stateside. I went with the URL option. You don't need to specify your parking space number. Instead, you enter your name and phone number, your car's licence plate, its country, and province or state. You then specify the time that you need. Mine defaulted to $8 from when I was there after 7 pm till 6 am the following day. It was perfect. I was downtown for four hours. I paid for my parking with a credit card. I had an extra 53 cents tacked on for a service charge that I don't get. You have the option of receiving text notifications as to when your parking time will expire. I said yes. You are not under any obligation. Once your parking time has expired, you get an e-mail that tells you that your credit card has been charged. After my concert, I headed to this lot and my car was safe and sound. I didn't get any parking tickets. I had used a similar service in Nashville where you had to specify your parking spot and I still got ticketed. The code that I used wasn't the one that I should have used. That parking lots had two different codes happening. It was incredibly confusing. Luckily, parking in this lot was smooth and straightforward. I'd parking here again when I'm taking in a show or concert in the area. My car was safe. I had piece of mind knowing that I could park for a flat fee and not worry about time expiring. (129)

Once upon a time, I bought a couch while I was living in an apartment, and didn't have anywhere to put it. We had just bought a house, but we were at that in-between time when you don't quite live in the house yet, but don't want to haul a couch up the stairs to your apartment (PIVOT, anyone?). I called Wendy, she had storage, I put the couch in the smallest unit she could rent me and it lived there for a month until I got into my house. It was a short, but sweet experience, and I swore to myself that if I ever needed storage again, I was going to call Wendy. Fast-forward eight years and I had cause to use Room to Spare again. Only this time, Wendy had no room to spare. I checked. I even asked if she'd let me move some stuff into her basement for a short time. I honestly think if I'd begged, she may have given in and let me store some things down there. She's just that nice. Wendy didn't have any storage for me, but was so sweet on the phone and explained to me why things are the way they are. In this market, people are selling their houses quickly and then have nowhere to go. They move into an apartment until they can find a place, but then have to put all their furniture SOMEWHERE while they are waiting. Hence, all the storage units are being used. So no, I didn't get to use Wendy's services. She did offer to put me on her waiting list, but my need was immediate and I was able to put into place a backup plan. Oh, I should also mention that when I was first looking into selling my house, I stopped into Room to Spare to talk to them about packing supplies and them helping me sell some of my crap that I didn't want to bring with me to my new (downsized) place. The staff is so accommodating and kind and patient. I swear, one day I'm going to need to store more stuff and Wendy is going to have a place for me to put my belongings where she and her little storage angels will keep close watch over them. And if by chance I make it through the next few years without needing storage, I might just stop in anyway and bring her a coffee. She's just the kind of gal you can't help but want to make your friend. (Wendy, if you're reading this, what do you take in your coffee?)

A large one. Unusual from my experiences in other AAA's. I was there to return some books we had not used. She was pretty snarky about it. I was surprised. Usually they are super nice and pleasant when we return maps or books. The place was busy, all the travel agents were working with people and there were a few people in the waiting area too. Im always glad to see that type of thing. But Ill avoid this location in the future. I want polite and pleasant help in a place like this. Sorry for the 2 stars AAA.
