However, we have 4 small children under 7 and a 1 year old born premature. for three months we dealt with one emergency after another from covid 19 having to shelter in place, going to take covid tests, it seemed each one of our kids was sick after the other and then finding out I was stuck in Maine for 15 days when going for work before I could return to Massachusetts and again stuck at a hotel before being able to go home or risk everyone having to quarantine In the midst of it we paid the oil bill late after always paying complete oversight. Rand handy called a few weeks later and said I didnt pay it and being at work unable to look it up that moment and send the information I simply paid again assuming I would get a credit toward the next delivery once straightened out. Rand handy said nothing to me that there was an issue and I said I would follow up with the receipt from the previous payment when I had a spare moment to have the account credited or learn what happened. Without a single warning or word they just didnt deliver oil again. Caught by surprised when I got a call we ran out and the house was cold I called rand handy to let them know we ran out and they had not delivered. Of course it happens when its 17 degrees out. For multiple days they claimed they were coming until I called again looking for what was going on and the secretary told me she was instructed not to deliver because we had paid the last payment late. no warning, no notice, they just let us run out and refused to deliver when it was 17 degrees and I was out of state again. We had no balance and one 280 payment late as a result of this mess with the pandemic. I requested they charge my card and fill the tank so we could have sometime to find a new company and they refused leaving us with no oil over a single late payment. Once I return in a few days I will have to look to get credited back for the double payment I have never written a review in my life but this was so egregious to do to people I had to especially with 4 small children and especially offering to pay right then and there. Totally uncalled for, I take responsibility for the single late payment but I got it done and apologized but to just fail to deliver with no warning even when offering to pay right there was just wrong. The pendemic has caused a mess for people and a reminder call may have been nice than just a no show and cut off in the freezing weather.

After putting me on hold for nearly 20 minutes I called back and my call was immediately answered by the same person. They assured me it would not be a problem. Friday afternoon I called up asking for an ETA and they claimed the order didn't come in until Friday morning, so they won't be delivering until Saturday. I reminded them again that I am basically out of oil and they gave a snarky reply when I asked if I needed to run out and get some diesel fuel to get me through. I called Saturday afternoon as I still hadn't received the delivery. They simply told me they were still out delivering and give them a call again in an hour and a half. I called over an hour and half later, asked about my delivery and they told me that it was now too dark at 6PM to continue delivering so they will need to attempt to fit me in tomorrow Sunday. I am now going to get another can of diesel fuel and continue to have enough keep me going through most of tomorrow as I will currently run out before morning. Would definitely NOT recommend.

So I only had 1 delivery a year. But regardless of how small the delivery was they always topped off my tank. But about a year ago the owners decided to retire and enjoy life. So they sold the business to Guard Oil in Fairhaven. Guard Oil is an excellent company. I have recently had many e-mails and phone conversations with them pertaining to my oil tank replacement and my account. They answered all my questions and gave me satisfactory results. The women who work at Guard Oil are a pleasure to deal with and are spot on with their answers.

On the second to last day of my three week stay, their hot water heater sprung a leak. To make matters worse, this was Saturday and I was leaving for Los Angeles at 3 AM Monday morning. My parents were panicking. I got on Yelp and found three plumbers to come out that day and give us an estimate for replacing it. The first estimate was a bit steeper than we hoped. The second estimate (from GEM) was outrageous --almost double the price of the first estimate. My parents were freaking out. Then Brandon from Service Professionals (Somerset) arrived. He took one look at my parents' water heater and said how new it looked and that it should still be under warranty. (The other plumbers hadn't noticed this and my parents didn't remember that they got it only 3 years ago). Brandon went on to explain that because it was probably still under warranty, he would be able to take it out, bring in and get it replaced for much less. He said he could do the switch out with the warranty replacement first thing Monday. OMG! I had to leave my parents' water heater replacement job in a stranger's care. My dad is 89 years old and my mom is 84. To say that it would be easy to take advantage of them is an understatement. I couldn't sleep wondering if I had chosen the right plumber for the job. I just finished one of my bi-weekly Skype visits with the folks. They are thrilled with the beautiful work that Brandon did. What a relief! Brandon did exactly what he said he would do. He pulled out the old water heater, brought it in, got it replaced under warranty and installed the replacement for the price that he quoted. I am so grateful!
