I've only been here to Paddleboard so this review is based on that alone. It's $10 to get in if you dont have an annual pass. Once you pay, you're directed to the spray station to decontaminate your paddleboard and then you're on your merry way! This may deter some people but I like it and find that it cuts down on the number of people who want to come here. No boats or jet skis are allowed here which keeps the water pretty still on a non windy day. Be sure to wear your PFD because when that wind hits, it comes in strong and soon enough you may need to b rescued by a park ranger on their boat (guilty!) All in all, peaceful place to paddleboard with a gorgeous view of the mountains!

I hiked the Arvada side, parking at 86th & Simms which is free. Parking is locked at sunset so plan accordingly. I was here on a Thursday from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. For two hours I only saw 2 bikers, 1 runner, and 1 person walking their dog - so, pretty empty on the trails and down by the water. The views were beautiful and it was very peaceful as well. The benches aren't the greatest and some are covered in graffiti but the ones by the pavilion are fine. I didn't come here to sit so it didn't bother me. No bugs bothered me either!

The Arvada side of Standley Lake is free. Our family did a 4 mile hike with great views and a beach walk. Did see a coyote which ran by us at about 15 yards away in the middle of the afternoon. Easy and family friendly walking trails.

Our kids just purchased a house by Standley Lake. We absolutely enjoyed our hike with our 7 month old puppy. Great park! Great views! Great time!

Rangers Mike & Taylor went above and beyond to recover my Basenji, Malcolm I don't know where to start but to make a long story short the Park Rangers were more than willing to help find my find my dog. He was hiding out on the dam and they were able to get him chased into a neighborhood and, with the help of a homeowner, catch and hold him until I could get there. They were always responsive to my calls and good to communicate what was going on. I can't thank them enough for the help!

Mad Props goes out the Coyote who, instead of turning and running the other way, started towards me on my run this morning. I was all set for a gorgeous morning run with a nice easy pace and soak up a little bit of the morning sun, shoes rhythmically keeping pace with my ipod, when you and I made eye contact...and you didn't budge. Instead I found myself slowly back peddling, looking over my shoulder watching you inch closer. Then turning 180 degrees and my workout (and mood) suddenly changed. I burst into a pair of 100-yard sprints..uphill. Two things came to mind, Usain Bolt has nothing to worry about, and I'm definitely no Siegfried & Roy...wanting any part of training you, Mr. Prairie Jackal.
