Lots of age ranges (ours was the littlest but the big kids were very respectful) and so many fun water features that cater to a wide array of ages and comfort levels. Very clean and well cared for with plenty of shady picnic tables adjacent to the splash pad. Once we finished getting soaked (parents who need to be near their little one, note you will absolutely get drenched) we tried off in the playground which was also top notch. Lots of cool features and again, clean and cared for. When we needed a break from the sunny swings, there were more shaded picnic tables next to a huge grassy field. The charcoal grills are also huge. You could spend a whole day here, easy. I can't wait to come back for more fun memories!

Really enjoy the design and open layout of this park. I've seen a few birthday parties hosted at the nearby tables adjacent to the playground. Still even on the weekends the park never seems to be over crowded. Even in the heat of summer the water features next to the playground are in use but not swarmed. Lots of nice businesses nearby you can walk to so a great location all around. Certainly one of the premier parks in the local area.

I came yesterday for birdwatching during sunset, and it was such a good experience! We saw a variety of birds, including waterfowl, hawks, sparrows, blackbirds, and I think even saw a golden eagle. The trail is gravel and goes all the way around the lake. It's very well-maintained. There is a small boardwalk that takes you close to the water as well. This is a great place to go on a short walk with family, or you could grab a drink and come with a friend to catch up. I so many people walking their dogs, and it seemed like a good trail for pets. There are two playgrounds around the lake and a tennis court. We passed friendly folks and families. The trail has many homes nearby and is located in a residential area. I parked on the street, and one of the neighborhoods and parking was easy to find. I'll definitely come back again for some outdoor exercise!

I was…read morerunning a few errands in Westminster today (Sunday, May 22, 2022) and accidentally drove by it on the way to get home. I HAD to make a stop and investigate it as the Savery Savory Mushroom Water Tower, the only intact remnant of the original collection of structures didn't escape my eye/attention (how could it escape it?; it's a very tall water tower!) This was the site by a guy named Charles William Savery from Pennsylvania, who bought a 80-acre farm in what is now Westminster in 1918. Long story short, the mushroom farm which Charles built is no longer there but having one of the remnant structures, the city of Westminster built a pond in 1995. The pond, which was originally built to hold storm water, is now a habitat for many species of insects, plants, birds, fish, I mean you name it, right? The pond itself is not massive but is a good size. Once at the trailhead, you can have an extensive walk/running/bike ride as the trails are extensive (to all sorts of directions). Several parks (Foxshire Park, Valley View Park, Meadowlark Park) and Legacy Ridge Golf Course are what surround this pond. Niver Canal that runs through the area is so picturesque and you can walk/jog/run/bike along the canal if you choose. The homeowners have access to the trail(s) right from their backyard gates. Some neighbors were having an afternoon cocktail in their backyard; some were chitchatting over their property fence. It is such a beautiful area with lots of green. And the city of Westminster and the residents do well by maintaining this whole area impeccably clean and immaculate. It sure was a nice discovery!

The wave pool is kind of cool however it is pretty narrow, and they allow kids to be extra rambunctious in there, which makes it more of a danger than anything. Multiple times I've been there, the lap pool has been closed, which has a rock climbing wall, which maybe could be cool but again it's always been closed. It's the only pool deeper than 3 1/2 feet. They have a small lazy river which could be fun however all kids have to be in a tube and that's just not for everyone. There's a sign on the locker room that says little boys six and under aren't allowed in the women's restroom... Maybe people are fine with that but my six-year-old son is too small to be alone. Also, the biggest turn off is that you have to pay even if you aren't swimming. My kids are smaller and so obviously need a parent, but I don't need to be in the water with them, and you still have to pay, regardless, which is just annoying and kind of a rip off. It's just not where I would choose again.

The courts are first come first serve per the Thornton Rec Center Employees and website. Moments later, an older woman came over and rudely told us that singles play wasn't allowed and we needed to play doubles. Not only was her tone unnecessarily harsh, but she insisted it was a "rule," despite there being no signage or clear policy anywhere stating that singles games were prohibited. If there is an empty court, people should be able to play how they want. The courts are supposed to be first come, first serve, but it seems like a group of older regulars have taken it upon themselves to control who plays, how, and when. It felt more like we were intruding on their private club than participating in a community activity at a public facility. We're all for shared use and following actual posted rules, but this kind of gatekeeping is exactly what drives new players and younger participants away. It was a really disappointing and unwelcoming experience. They need to make it so these courts are reserved. Otherwise the other facilities are great! There is tennis courts, bocce ball , a splash pad, horseshoe pits and great walking paths.

I told him I do want to call the cops and he refused, let them continue to play the round out(!?!) And made me sit out a hole??? Genuinely dumbstruck by the way this was handled. The fat old dude who was ranger shouldn't be a ranger he needs to be fired immediately. He was useless and was allowing insanely slow pace beside shaming me for being concerned about the dude who just attempted to assault me w a deadly weapon. Piss poor. The dude I talked to in the club house was fantastic about it. The real issue is the lazy useless ranger, the pace and the attempted murder on the tee box that I somehow got shamed for. keeping in mind that I DID NOT hit into them which can easily be corroborated by my round mates. I will not play here again. I started playing here 10 days ago and this is my 4th round, love the course and the guys working in the club house, even the practice area is great but if we're just letting felonies fly I'll go to one of the other thousand courses near the is one.
