Cannot say enough about home air conditioning maintenance service in the Athens, Ga. area. Last week, my A/C Thermostat went blank taking out all climate controls along with it. Using Yelp, and its star reviews, I selected family-owned Sandfield Air Systems. My wife and I are in our 80s and enjoying the quiet life of retirement. Brett was our service technician and after patiently listening to my telling him how to do his job, assured me our thermostat was not likely the problem, but just a symptom. He demonstrated how over time the system's humidity drain becomes blocked and in doing so, can trip it's overflow cutoff switch, thereby shutting the entire system down thereby avoiding flooding of the attic and everything below. Finally a technician that not only knows his business, but can educate customers about system operations well enough to minimize future occurrences. Equally important, he explained more about the functionality of our system and the optimum settings for ongoing creature comfort. Beautiful, I signed up for their semi-annual maintenance inspections and can now rest assured our home and it's largest mechanical system is in good hands. Thanks Brett, you did good. I installed a new Ecobee Wi-Fi thermostat myself. Wasn't sure it was wired/set correctly with settings. Called Stanfield yesterday and they had a technician come out today. My tech was Ashton Hill. Seemed VERY knowledgeable about the Wi-Fi thermostat and it's settings. He went through it completely, as well as going into the crawlspace to inspect the air handler and the auxiliary heater. One of the best service experiences I've ever had. From the person who answers the phone to the salesperson who explained in detail what was needed with hand drawn pictures to the technicians who replaced a 20 year old commercial grade A/C system. We barley knew the technicians were doing the work. They communicated with each other through an ear piece and never spoke above a slight whisper. It was impressive. We had no idea what we had been missing. Our new air system is wonderful. We can hardly wait for temps to rise into the 90's and really enjoy the comfort Stanfield has provided to our home. read more

Very satisfied and the only HVAC contractor I will use in the Athens area. I called another company to come check on a heat pump only to be told it wasn't worth repairing and I should put in a new unit for $7,200. Stanfield came out and properly diagnosed the system and replaced one relatively inexpensive control board and the system is now working as it should. It's hard to find honest contractors these days, I trust Stanfield! read more

NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE! I scheduled a service visit with Stanfield Air Systems (Tuesday, September 27th). All I needed was a simple check up for my air-conditioning system. They told me they would be able to service my air-conditioner between 1-5 P.M. I waited around all day for them. I never received a phone call. I call them around 4:30 to see if they were coming. The woman at the desk said they were readying for my visit. So, I waited around until 6:00 P.M. They NEVER CAME, despite giving me assurances that they were coming. I called in the next morning and was met by a rude customer "service" receptionist who would not acknowledge the error on the business. Bad business practices and bad customer service are telling about an organization. Save yourself the problems and don't deal with these people. read more

I have been using Standield Air Systems for several years for maintaining my HVAC system. I signed up for their maintenance plan and they come out twice a year to service the system before the heat wave or first serious cold snap happens so the system is working when I need it. If you are on their plan you also get a discount on service when you need it. Last year they were able identify a capacitor that was about to go out and replace it before it did while they were already there. That saved me the cost of a service call that was inevitable. A few weeks ago I had them clean the ducts in my house. I had been putting this off for years because I thought it was going to cost a lot more than it did. I was shocked by the amount of debris Mitch (the technician) was able to find in my ducts. This is a great company that clearly strives to provide great service and the people they send to my home are polite, professional and appear to be very well trained. read more
