The Stanford Blood Center was a surprise to me. My mom told me to donate, so I came here on my lunch break. Staff were all extremely friendly and I didn't feel awkward at all. The facility is extremely clean and organized, and I felt comfortable. The process was a little scary for me but I knew I was in good hands. I've donated over 5 gallons of blood to date. I used to go to the center in Mtn. View and then I was lucky enough to have the blood mobile come to my Sunnyvale office quarterly. Once I moved over the hill I found this location on Hamilton which is convenient when I am in the area for appointments. I donate here quarterly. All of the staff members are pleasant and easy to talk to, the location is very clean and it's always fun to sit in the cantina afterwards eating snacks and drinking POG. read more

I had a terrible experience on 4/9/22 The phlebotomist was inexperienced and failed to draw my blood. My observation was that she was not properly trained and I should have never let her continue (I went against my better judgment.) She kept moving the needle around and injuring my arm/vein before getting help, she should have immediately asked for help. My arm has been in significant pain and I had to wait in my car before I was able to drive home. Never again read more

I've decided to be a regular here now! I usually do the mobile banks or local blood drives but this place is sooo clean and you are set up on these very comfortable chairs. The canteen for refuel is awesome! They offer a good variety of snacks - with healthy options too! Baby carrots, mozzarella string cheese, sliced apples, variety of yummy cookies, healthier tortilla chips and even Oreo cookies! Come on Monday's! They offer a cinemark movie ticket for donors. This is a terrific center for donating blood. Their phlebotomists (yes i had to look up the spelling) are the best. No pain and almost no needle mark, and plenty of cookies after. Make sure you so the online questionnaire the same day of the donation and don't take aspirin within 48 hours. Lots of parking and across the street from restaurants. read more

Absolutely great costumer service from operator who made my appointment to the front desk, and then sherwin. There is great mini snakes bar, from different juices to small cookies. Everything is neat and clean , and they pay attention to protocols ,so absolutely a must to see and donate some blood. read more

This is my go-to blood donation center and I've almost always had positive experiences here. I've rarely had to wait more than 5 minutes past my appointment time, the staff is typically friendly and knowledgable (I've had a couple of failed attempts with less experienced techs because my veins are small). The facility is always clean and I've always felt safe going in to donate throughout the pandemic. You really can't beat saving lives and getting POG juice and Oreos. read more

Make sure you ask for the charge nurse or how long have they been working as phlebotomist before giving your arm away. Always a pleasure coming here. The customer service is beyond pleasant. I have high iron and normal hemoglobin. My doctor recommended me come here to get blood drawn. The first time I came I was not qualified due to my weight. I gained 4 more pounds and came back. Wow... I was so nervous because of my weight... but this was a piece of cake. I got blood taken out at 113 pounds, and let me tell you it was a breeze. I ate a really big meal before and I felt really good to take out blood. The only thing I felt like I needed was water while the process was happening. I asked for some and they brought it no problem. I felt so comfortable during the whole time and had no issues.. usually when I get blood work done (empty stomach) I almost always faint. I donated blood and I was fine with no issues!!! What a great experience! This really opened up my eyes to coming in more often since there are people who are in need of blood. With my high iron levels, I am sure people can use some of my blood! read more

As a long time donor, this center is one of the best. I usually donated blood every couple of months because it was too far for me to travel. But when Campbell opened this center down the street, I was ecstatic! The staff are super friendly and you get to know them. I now donate whole blood every 8 weeks on the dot, and I tested ( only monday-thursday) for HLA (if you had a child or were ever pregnant, check for HLA. If you are negative you can donate platelets) I was negative. So I have attempted multiple times to do platelets and plasma. I am currently on my 8th donation. This place is lovely! Clean, comfortable space for donating. Kind, patient staff and a wonderful volunteer helping with the goodies at the end. I arrived on time for my appointment; they saw me swiftly and I was out the door in less than an hour. For those who are Red Cross donators, this is a MUCH BETTER experience and goes directly to local patients in need. American Red Cross, unfortunately, sells the blood (makes money off of your donation!) and oftentimes ships it across the country. I'll be a regular here now! read more

Go donate blood! Save a life! It's not scary at all. I like coming here over their mobile donation setup. Make sure you book an appointment online before hand, as they can often be full and unable to accommodate you. Ok, so the procedure: 1) During covid, they're doing a quick temperature health check once you walk into the building. 2) you sign in at the receptionist desk, and they hand you an iPad to fill out the medical questionnaire. They recently launched an online form where you can fill this out ahead of time. 3) you get called into the little private booth where they go through your questionnaire answers, measure your blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, and poke your finger to measure your iron levels. (Eat some red meat and take an iron pill before you donate!) 4) walk over to the donation chair. They even provide blankets if asked. Ask for water as well to stay hydrated. They disinfect the needle puncture point, then start the blood collection. They give you something to hold onto and roll to get the blood flow going. Afterwards they let you pick a color for the bandage, and off you go to the snack station. 5) great snack options :P I like their freshly cut apples, carrots, and mozzarella cheese strings. Lots of people get their pita/sun chips, cookies, and juice too. 6) check your blood results online! Not only do you find out what blood type you are, you can now find out if you have covid antibodies. You used to also get your cholesterol levels as one of the other checks. Tip: come on Mondays to get a free movie ticket. They also frequently run promotions and offer coupons/gift cards. Sign up for an account to earn points every time you donate too. read more

Very disappointing as I went to donate blood 3/4 times & was kind of discouraged as one lady who did my blood test said my hemoglobin count is low though it was 12.5 and she said it should be 12.9 which I came to know the next time When I went in & tried donating. Then, I present them with a note from my doctor saying it is fine to donate, they refuse on a technicality that no one there has the sense or authority to overrule. I never have this issue with other donation sites. I just went there because I had some time off. They cannot thing outside their little box. read more

I don't donate to Blood Centers of the Pacific. They charge, or they charge more, for blood donated with them. When I had a car, I'd donate at Hillview by the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, on my way to or home from appointments in HMB. Haven't had a car for two years, so donations happen at the blood drive at the Congregational Church at Leigh & Hamilton, but those are only 4 x a year, and I think at the centers you can donate at least 6x yearly. I've been chomping at the bit for this SBC location in Campbell for at least 18 months, which it jumped through the hoops Campbell sets for businesses/organizations, especially new ones. Finally, it opened on 22 October, and my appointment was for the 24th. Still without a car, I hired a Lyft there. My driver from India wanted to know about foreigners' ability to donate, and he got the information while I was signing in. For the medical review, they now have heavy-duty tablets for the Q&A. Lots of outside light, and the donation room might have full-spectrum overheads. They have phlebotomists, rather than ordinary nurses, which means less fussing about and bruising after. My donation went smoothly, and when I went out to the snack & sit-here-for-15-minutes table, I noticed a wider variety of snacks--including string cheese and a bag of baby carrots. I took a cookie, some cheese, and some carrots. Good experience all around. I filled out a suggestion card for adding Odwalla Lemonade to the fountain juices--not HFCS, and not watery or gummy. Afterwards, I walked to TGI Sushi for a couple of rolls, half of each I took home for later, before calling a Lyft to get home. I'll make another appointment for mid-December. read more

I feel that I consistently have a better experience at the Mountain View donor center. I think the Hamilton location is a training center so many of the phlebotomists are students.... and it's painfully obvious (literally painful). Getting a needle stick is painful anywhere you go but it always feels very aggressive and not well done at this center. There's always an excuse too, "your veins are too small" or "we have a new needle design" like Ok spare me the miserable excuses. Even removing the needle is extremely painful!! I'm talking every single time at this center. Today in particular, my appointment was at 12:30 and I arrived at 12:20. I signed up to do plasma since that was the only appointment slot available but when I got there, I was told there was a greater need for whole blood. No problem with me as long as I wouldn't have to wait any longer since I had things planned for after my donation. I even thought, plasma takes longer anyway so whole blood should be faster even if I have to wait a bit. I'm not exaggerating one bit when I say I wasnt helped until 1:15. That's 45 minutes and I was on time for my appointment!!! Very frustrating to see other people being seated and helped who arrived after me. Another thing, the Mountain View center always hands out brand new masks for everyone and screens for COVID symptoms. Nothing like that at Hamilton. I'm no germaphobe or anything but it just seems inconsistent and unprofessional. However, I gotta say that the canteen volunteers are SIGNIFICANTLY friendlier and more helpful at Hamilton. The MV location uses student volunteers who don't say a word to you and even avoid eye contact. Shout out to all the wonderful volunteers at Hamilton, you guys make the experience bearable!!! read more

This is one of the best donation center I have ever visited. The interior of the building is spacious; the staffs are friendly, and the canteen has a variety of food for all your post donation cravings. The only drawback I have to mention is that it doesn't have as long an opening hours as other Stanford blood center sites. Overall all, I am very happy with my whole blood donation at this location and will visit again. Tips: don't forget to check Stanford blood centers official site for special offers and promotions. I went to Stanford Blood Center to give blood last Thursday and ended up having a "grey 2" reaction even though I had given blood before. I ended up having a poor reaction because I spent too much time in the sun earlier that day and was very dehydrated. When I started to feel sick, the nurses acted quickly and made me feel relaxed and calm and let me know everything that was going on. I am very thankful for the nurses who helped me that day and stayed by my side for two hours until I was fully okay to be picked up. Nurses Oneida, Jennifer (Jen), and Sherwin were on top of everything and made me feel cared for and safe throughout the entire process. Thank you! read more

From bloodmobiles to blood bank sites and campuses or store parking lots, I'm a regular donor, yet always treated as if I know nothing, and it's my first time, even when they see my record. Then, I get an awkward, newbie RN even when I asked for an experienced RN. Hence, 4 stars for my last 2 visits. Otherwise, I like Stanford Blood bank as an organization, over other blood donation places, and I've been to 3 others. Their facility is clean, friendly, and well-organized. Overall, I prefer their bloodmobile, as the wait us much shorter and more convenient in terms of sheer variety of locations. You could do a lot worse. read more
