We went for The Excellent Onion Rings and The Cheese Curds. Both Worth having and a nice sized serving. Good for two to share. I also wanted to try something extra So we ordered a side Ground Beef Taco and A Ground Beef Enchilada. I must say both were delicious and we will definitely be back to try more of the menu on another day. For those that haven't tried the food here I do recommend this place. Thanks to Yelp I found this little gem hidden in the town of Salome, AZ! I was looking for lunch on my way home from Tucson to LA. This showed up not too far off the 10 freeway and on a very cool road to get there! The waitress was incredibly friendly and when she brought the food she talked about how happy she was when the owner was cooking because the food comes out great! Boy, she wasn't kidding! Just a mushroom and swiss burger with fries, but every detail was perfectly attended to! I enjoyed it very much. read more

Good diner-type of food in the cafe and if you want to pair it with beer, the bar is across the hall. You'd have to order the beer and the food separately but you can either bring the food to bar or bring the beer to the cafe, whatever floats your boat. I had the chili cheese fries and it was good. The fries were crisp enough and the chili was tasty, even though I wished that there was more meat to it. I love that I was given plenty of onions to go with the fries. There was only one staff taking orders and serving us and even though it was kinda busy at first, she gave off this energy that makes you feel welcome and that you're making her day even better. We stayed just one night. It's an older property but well maintained. Our room was decorated with pictures of old cars and antique oil cans. Very cute! The bathroom was clean but kind of small. I don't think it would be wheelchair accessible. You can park right in front of your door. I would definitely stay there again! read more

I had the best club sandwich EVER at this restaurant. The ham was REAL, not just lunch meat pressed ham, and the bacon was freshly cooked. I also had a side salad and it came with a freshly boiled egg, sliced perfectly on top. The cook clearly cares about fresh food and lovely presentation. read more

Little dive off the 60. It's worth the stop. We had our four foster kids with us, and just wanted to go out for a drive. It was about twelve noon and kids were hungry. We were pulling into Salome and seen this restaurant off to the side. Kids had cheeseburger and fries, wide had a BLT sandwich with fries. I had the green chili burrito. Burgers looked good and the kids loved it. Wife said her BLT was excellent. My green chili burrito was also very good. One thing about the burrito. Dish comes with rice and beans. Plate is large enough for two people. Overall we had a great experience, Food was great Service was great And if you want a alcohol drink, there is a bar right next door. read more

Food is good, especially dinner menu. Breakfast is ok but you can tell a lot of the food is canned or frozen. Dinner menu is good and tasty. Decor is really cool. Some of the seats are ripped and run down looking and could use some repair or replacement. My issue with them I s that they tack on a 3.99% "service charge" if you use a debit or credit card to pay for your meal. I'm wondering if this is a statewide thing or maybe they only do at this restaurant. I have never been charged extra to use my debit card anywhere else in Salome?! I did not include this service charge in my tip. Nice staff, especially the breakfast ladies who seem to know most of the customers by name. read more

It's illegal to ask for paperwork for a service Dog, my companion is disabled and had his service dog. A business May ask if it is a Service dog, paperwork is NOT required. We were asked to leave unless we could show paper work. Discussed that a disabled Vet was treated this way. Shameful read more

The decor is perfect for an original roadside cafe, and the food was very good. Currently, and due to the pandemic (said a sign on the door) staff was not up to the task of running a busy restaurant and the service reflected this. Our server was friendly and very pleasant to us, but was taking a very long time to get to us, or to any other tables. We saw several people complain about the lack of service or attentiveness. If i had to guess i would say the people running it were thrown into the situation, with none of them really knowing how to run a restaurant. That said, they were still friendly and apologized for being so "behind" with everything. read more

This is a small quaint establishment in a small Arizona town. The wait staff is friendly and the ambiance home town. I ordered the fried zucchini and the broccoli cheese soup. Paul had the breakfast burrito. The fried zucchini was very good, the soup... amazing! Paul had the breakfast burrito. He said it was made different. He really enjoyed the spice. Ordered the patty melt burger with fries and specifically asked for a side of tartar sauce since that's what I enjoy with my fries instead of ketchup. My waitress Ashley even had me repeat my request to confirm it. Well, you guessed it, my plate arrived with no tartar sauce side but she instead plopped down a plastic bottle of... ketchup, and scurried away. It didn't much matter though as the shoe-string type fries were limp and soggy and I could only manage to eat a few. The patty melt was tasty enough with the fried onions and cheese although it didn't appear to be the one-third pound as advertised. A sad little pile of thin sliced limp pickles were hidden under the fries. My waitress never returned to ask how everything was or even offer to refill my water. It appeared her only tables were myself and one other so it wasn't as if she was too busy. I'm sorry this wasn't a better experience but I won't be giving this cafe a second chance. read more

I have been to the Stanford Inn Cafe & Bar twice in the past couple weeks. The first time was a "scouting trip" with 3 friends, because we were leading a ride with a larger group the following week and wanted to check the routes and check out the restaurant. We ate in the bar, and Lucy was our server. She was great, the food came out pretty quickly, and our orders were perfect. We all raved about the food (3 of us had patty melts, the other had a hot ham & cheese sandwich), with tater tots. Delicious! We went back 5 days later with 15 motorcycles / 18 total people. This time we called ahead and sat in the cafe. The staff had the tables set up for us. Two members opted to eat outside on the patio, and they said it was good there. Inside was very nice - clean, tables and chairs were in great condition, and the service was spot on. I didn't ask everyone about their food experiences, but I admit it was not great for me this time. First, they were out of tater tots, which was sad as they were so good. But it is what it is. I ordered a French Dip sandwich, and my wife ordered a burger. She said the burger was "okay," but the meat didn't have much flavor to it. The meat they used in my French Dip was not like I'd ever had before (and I order that sandwich very often, in many different venues). Instead of thinly sliced steak or prime rib, it was more like thickly sliced pot roast. The meat was dry and tasteless. The au jus took care of the dryness, of course, but honestly didn't add enough to the flavor to really be called good, and no amount of soaking in the dip lessened the toughness of the meat. I was quite disappointed, but being with a party of 18 who were going back on the road back towards Phoenix, I didn't feel I had time to ask for a redo or for something else, so I ate about half of it and paid our check. Overall, I would give this place a try if I'm ever in the area again, but I will be more careful about what I order. I'm giving four stars for the service and overall experience, it would have been five if not for the disappointing food on the second visit. read more

Man I've just devoured the Arizona burger for late breakfast and I think my endorphine (or whatever that happiness hormone is called) has been boosted to dangerous levels! This place is nasty dirty and the cook is rude when you send food back because its raw or burnt. My crew will never go back here. I expected cockroaches to be crawling just because of the dirty greasy smell of the joint. And for crying out loud at least use soup and water to wipe down the entire surfaces of the tables. YUM! We stopped here randomly because it happened to be what we were passing when we got hungry. We weren't sure what to expect, but we loved it! I got the southwest wrap and potato salad, and my sister got the tuna melt and potato salad. The wrap was particularly great; fresh veggies and seasoned chicken inside and toasted perfectly on the outside. I've owned property in this hamlet for years, about an hour and change west of Scottsdale, and love this old cafe. Brimming with local history, they'll regale you with tales of the local 'Walt Whitman of the West' who used to run this place way back in the day when it was a popular fueling stop for those heading back to Los Angeles. He wrote stories of Salome, a seven-year-old frog who couldn't swim (because he lives in the desert). Sounds corny, but for God's sake, the local high school adopted the fighting 'Frogs' as their mascot. Anyway, it's a true snapshot experience of middle-of-nowhere-Americana-dining. It's awesome. Oh, and I couldn't resist buying a cotton-T from their little museum store after lunch. I suspect the shirt might be older than I am. read more

This is a friendly little diner in the middle of nowhere. We stopped in for lunch and were surprised. I had the bullfrog burger and my Wife had a bacon cheeseburger. They were juicy and delicious. The fries wete crispy. I travel this stretch of highway pretty frequently and now I can get a good burger here. Service was good and fast. Reasonable prices. read more

While out on a spring day motorcycle ride we discovered this cool looking old adobe building that's been totally restored. One side is a bar, the other a cafe. We ordered a hamburger and fries. It was good, not exceptional, but had good flavor. The service was good. Stopped in on the way back to CA because let's face it, there's nothing else in sight for many many many miles. We stopped because of the nice reviews on Yelp. Otherwise, we would've kept driving. I got the chili cheese fries and they were bomb! My husband got the Arizona burger with tator tots (which he loved the fact that you get a choice between tator tots and fries) and that too, was very good. They don't have a kids menu but my two toddlers split a cheeseburger with fries that they couldn't finish but indeed was good. If you're contemplating this place, just go. The food is good, the people are friendly and the decor is kinda cool. Go in and support this local place that probably doesn't get much business because it's so far from everything. P.S. If you get fries, ask for the cowboy sauce. It's kinda of like thousand island mixed with bbq sauce. Sounds funny but it's YUMMY with French fries. read more
