Stanger Electric...Craig helped me 18 months ago with a 1954 breaker box..installed new breakers to code ..perfect job. Fast forward to Nov of 18. Installed the most up to date circuit breakers and all are GFCI breakers. Rocky Mt Power hung a new power line, Craig and Trevor installed the main box and the new breakers and were finished by 2 pm...just does not get any better than that. As well as another concern the tenant had just to make sure I was aware of it. Craig was very nice, but I disagree with the amount of money ($304.91) I had to pay for this service to get a smart doorbell up and working. Let me start by saying these guys got out to my house the same day I called which was great service. What they don't tell you is that there are charges assessed for travel time between the previous job and your house based on the time it takes to get there. When I called, I said I had a doorbell transformer that had gone bad and that I was trying to get a Nest Hello installed, but that apparently wasn't relayed to Craig and he had to call and track down a new transformer and go pick it up in the middle of this service call. This is a big deal because you are charged hourly and that probably took 20-30 minutes. Craig reviewed the specs for a Nest transformer online with me and based on that, went and got the new transformer. We walked through the steps of installing the Nest Hello together. Originally, the Nest connector that hooks to the doorbell chimes was installed backwards. In 10-15 minutes of troubleshooting we figured that out and rewired that. Then we got to the Nest Hello install and like many people report online, we weren't getting enough power to the doorbell. After 15 minutes or so of troubleshooting we reviewed the specs again and Craig noticed the Nest Hello could use between 16v-24v. Luckily, he had bought a transformer that could use 16v or 24v. So he jumped back up on the ladder and switched the transformer to 24v. Power on the Nest is determined by the blue ring (good) or orange ring (bad). We kept getting intermittent blue and orange rings. Craig hooked up a mulitimeter to the doorbell wires and it was jumping all over the place anywhere from 15v to 21v. Both Craig and I tried several things in our troubleshooting efforts to get it to work. After about 30-45 minutes, I heard a sound coming from the Nest Hello and noticed that we were arching on the back of the Nest Hello itself. The screws didn't get tightened and that was causing the fluctuation in power to the Nest Hello. A diode for the chimes was also required to play the full chime and it was broken in the process as well, so I am glad 2 of those were included with the chimes hardware. All in all the doorbell is working, but based on the cost of a smart doorbell along with a huge electrician bill, I now have one of the most expensive doorbells in history. read more

I don't recommend Stanger Electric to anyone. I had an appointment this morning and they didn't show up or call, just left me waiting for them. I called Craig at Stanger and had to tell him what work they were suppose to do because he couldn't remember even though he made the appointment for my electrical work. Craig said he would send an electrician within an hour. The hour came and went and still no one showed or called. I took time off work without pay for this appointment. This is unacceptable and no consideration of my time. I fired Stanger Electric. It is common courtesy to call to let me know! read more
