We have been loyal customers since your grand opening and have consistently had excellent experiences. We have recommended your restaurant to many people, especially praising your salad bar for its freshness, quality, and variety. We've also ordered the AYCE fish fry many times -- including nearly every Friday during Lent last year -- and it has always been crispy, well‑drained, and never greasy. This visit, however, fell far below the standards we have come to expect. From the moment we were seated, the experience was noticeably different. The hostess did not ask for drink orders, which has always been standard. Our server -- slightly heavy‑set with a long black ponytail -- appeared disengaged and gave the clear impression that she did not want to be there. We confirmed with her that the AYCE fish was $12.99 and included all‑you‑can‑eat soup and salad, exactly as we were told earlier in the day when we called. Her response was, "She always tells people that, but it's one trip." Despite the inconsistency, we proceeded and requested the fish extra crispy and well‑drained. We waited at least 30 minutes for the first round of fish, even though only two other tables were occupied and they already had their food. When the fish finally arrived, it was extremely greasy, not crispy, and the bottoms were completely soggy. When we pointed this out, the server simply said, "I told him," offering no apology, no concern, and no attempt to resolve the issue. She took the fish back to have it remade. She returned shortly after and removed our sides without explanation. The second order of fish was still dripping with grease. Grease was visibly pooled in the breading, as if it had come straight from the fryer without being drained at all. We asked another employee if she was the manager. She said no but asked what was wrong. As we began explaining, the manager, Heather, approached. At that same moment, the server stood behind me and said, "Oh, they're not happy with that either." Heather also showed no empathy, no apology, and no effort to correct the situation. Her demeanor was irritated and dismissive from the start. We told Heather to remove the fish from the bill. She agreed but insisted we still had to pay for the soup and salad. She then brought a bill for nearly $30, charging us for AYCE soup and salad even though we each had only one cup of soup and one small salad. When we questioned this, Heather became visibly annoyed and said she would instead charge us for a side salad and a cup of soup. We explained that the fish has never been like this before. Heather's response was, "Then go out to Madison, they have the same fish there." This was unprofessional and completely unnecessary. When we went to pay, we informed Heather that we were veterans. She applied the discount to only one meal. When I told her I was also a veteran, she said, "Oh, you're a veteran too? Well, I need to see ID." This was disrespectful and unnecessary, especially after she acknowledged she recognized us from previous visits. My husband was wearing a veteran jacket, yet she still demanded to see his ID as well. Heather then brought up the fish again, stating it "looked perfectly fine" to her. When I explained the amount of grease on the napkin and on my hands, she dismissed it, saying, "It's deep fried, there's going to be grease," and repeated that it looked fine. As I calmly explained that it had never been served this way before, she told me I was "getting out of control." At no point did I raise my voice -- I was simply explaining the issue. After that comment, I stepped outside while my husband finished paying. He later told me that Heather was speaking about me in front of him to another employee, again calling me "out of control," and told the server she wasn't getting a tip. It is clear that something has changed. The friendly, attentive, welcoming atmosphere that once set your restaurant apart is gone. The staff now appear disengaged, unprofessional, and uninterested in providing quality service. We no longer see any of the kind servers who made dining here enjoyable. We are extremely disappointed by how this visit was handled from start to finish. We hope management takes this feedback seriously. We have supported your restaurant since your grand opening, and we would like to feel confident returning -- but based on this experience, that is not possible unless significant improvements are made. read more

Uncomfortably bright lighting. I asked the waitress if she could turn them down, she got defensive and said people complain its not bright enough. The burger litterly filled my plate with grease, i tried to use a napkin to sop it up to prevent the fries from becoming saturated. Upon picking the burger up, it continued to leak grease. Great new local diner for Breakfast. Very clean and decorated nicely. Love the fun summer looking bar area. Reasonable prices. Our server Sarah was friendly. She and others kept checking that we had plenty of coffee. The beef gyro breakfast was very good. The tzatziki sauce was perfect! My mother in law's country eggs Benedict looked really good. She said the sausage gravy was tasty. The dinner menu looked good too, will have to come back to try. Will definitely be back for breakfast. Great add to the mentor area! I've had the pleasure of eating at this establishment several times and also using DoorDash for quick delivery. The food quality is outstanding- always fresh and hot. Service has always been top notch. When arriving you are seated quickly and your server arrives promptly to get your order. They have a salad bar that is always fresh and clean. The tables are placed so that nobody is bumping into you when getting up and you feel comfortable. The menu has a wide variety and breakfast is available all day. I love little hometown restaurants...and this one doesn't disappoint. The staff is exceptionally friendly & attentive and the place is CLEAN! Even the bathrooms -generally the weak link - are well-appointed and maintained. The atmosphere is okay...basically a big, open room with several booths in the middle. Perhaps actual tables or some partitions would have warmed things up & made it feel a bit more cozy & inviting. The small salad bar is fresh, well-maintained & offers a nice - if somewhat limited - variety. Apparently this is included with each dinner entrée but I didn't see this posted anywhere on the menu. Curiously, a cup of soup comes with the meal but isn't part of the salad bar. It would have been nice to simply help ourselves. The menu offers an extensive selection of appetizers, salads, wraps, sandwiches, burgers & entrees. My (huge!) open-faced roast beef platter came with mashed potatoes & green beans and was good - but not great. Instant mashed potatoes (most people probably won't know the difference) & dry roast beef were a disappointment. The only drawback and it isn't the restaurant's fault is the lack of a handicap ramp right by restaurant. Nearest ramp is down closer to Manhattan Deli. I rarely write reviews, however I feel that when you receive outstanding service, that merits recognition. I had scheduled brunch for 7 this past Saturday, on perhaps what was the coldest day so far this winter. I arrived a bit early (as I do each month to the various restaurant we select throughout the city), there was a slight mix up with the reservation time, but the Hostess said "no problem, we can accommodate you", and proceeded to seat me in a private room, at a very spacious table, while I awaited the arrival of my party. Looking around, I could see that the restaurant was nicely appointed, and appeared family-friendly. The server brought me a hot beverage, and we had a nice chat while she did the place-settings. She checked on me several times before the members of my group arrived, once everyone was seated, she took our drink orders, reviewed the specials, explained several items on the menu and made recommendations. We were surprised at how quickly our food arrived, but even more so at the large portion sizes (several of us knew immediately, that we would be getting take-out boxes). I got the "Sunshine Breakfast", which consisted of eggs, bacon, sausage patties, choice of potato, and homemade biscuits with sausage gravy. Where do I begin, let me start by saying that I have had a lot of biscuits over my lifetime, some good, some very good, and some, not so much. These biscuits on the hand were Epic! I have never had a biscuit so light and delicate that it literally melts in your mouth, yet was still substantial enough to stand up to the hot, slightly peppery, and incredibly rich sausage gravy with which it was covered (that was a meal in and of itself. I fully intend to order a dozen of them just to take home on my next visit). The eggs were fluffy, the bacon was crisp, and the potatoes were on point. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. When the checks came, I noticed one of my group scrutinizing his pretty closely, eventually stating: "this can't be right", he called our server over and said to her (in all sincerity), "This check isn't enough!" (That was a new one on me), he explained to her that given the amount of food he had, the check couldn't possibly be this low. Our server, I believe her name was Cherrie (pronounced Sherrie {I hope that I got that correct}), took the time to review each item on the check with him, assuring him that it was indeed correct. The food was great, the portions were large, for a great price. My wife had the burger and I had pasta both meals were very good. The place is large looks like it would be fun for drinks, it was very clean. The service was outstanding before I even got back from the salad bar our food was at the table. Our server Kelly continually checked on us, brought a box to see if we needed one before we even asked (which we did large portions). She brought the check and immediately took my card for the bill which was awesome I was in a hurry. Okay. I don't know how this place has a 4.8/5. They must not have been there for breakfast. So the staff is pretty friendly. That's the only reason for the 2nd star. I took my mom here since this was the new place in town and we love breakfast. I got the French toast with a pancake on the side (so I could try both) and the breakfast potatoes. The French toast was subpar. The breakfast potatoes were absolutely inedible. They were so burnt and they brought them out like I wouldn't notice. They were so beyond gone that they weren't even potatoes at that point. Now the pancakes...don't even get me started. McDonald's hotcakes are better than these. I swear they had the same texture like they were frozen then put into the microwave then out to my table. You couldn't even cut them, they were so rubbery. Pancakes are one of the hardest things to mess up as long as you don't burn them. You mix, you pour, and you flip. These are definitely frozen and you can't tell me otherwise. We really wanted to love this place. We support local businesses, but when they serve food like this, they've got to do better. I was just so disappointed when they brought those potatoes out like there was nothing wrong with them. That's the thing that irritates me. They knew. I write reviews not to diss the business, but to set expectations for the next person. Maybe they've gotten better. I'll never find out though. read more
