STANLEY STEEMER in Lexington KY came to clean our air ducts on Monday 6/30. We paid them around $500. When they came our heat pump was working perfectly and since they left we have no air circulating to the main floor of our home. The technicians have been back twice trying to repair it but no improvement. We also had 2 separate licensed HVAC repairmen come and both told us that the fins on our air handler system had been damaged preventing air flow. We have been passed around for 10 days now trying to get this taken care of and this morning we were told that they are not responsible and that they did not do the damage thus it's our problem. Since they are the only ones who have been INSIDE our heat pump it's irresponsible for them to not admit the mistake and make it right. We were instructed to contact the corporate office which we did and she forwarded the matter to the insurance company for a potential resolution but this damage is going to cost approximately $8900 -11,000 per the estimates. They have now been so kind to offer us $1,000 to settle it. Now we will be filing a law suit against them just to get back where we were when they came. Beware if you let Stanley STEEMER done to your home. They DO NOT stand being their work and the damage they cause! Don't do it. I'm surprised to see the stars aren't good when our guy did a fantastic job. I did the service online, for the same day for a 3 room carpet clean. Thinking they would call to reschedule, because of the short notice. We may have gotten lucky, or maybe they are naturally fast and are up to date with their online service but they came on time. Job/reason- We got them because my 6-year-old painted on the carpet and we couldn't get it out so decided to get the whole house cleaned. Cost- Originally the cleaning would be $130 but I paid an extra $40 for a large rug to be cleaned. It was a white rug I paid $400 for so $40 to clean it was a deal Worker- He came fast, was very polite, and wore his mask. My partner and I both have desk we were on, and he waited till we got up before cleaning underneath us, and I didn't even notice till I came back and he was finishing up Overall- I would hire them again. The prices were transparent, the service was great, and our carpet is clean. I'm very happy and would highly recommend it. Side note- I originally wanted to give our business to a local company to help with our community but these guys are franchised, and still need the business. I called the local Stanley Steamer in the Somerset KY area. I received a voice mail stating that I leave a message and they would call right back. That was 3 days ago.... I have not received a call back and have had to hire another company to do my area rugs. Good thing I didn't wait for the call back. I used stanley steemer for air duct cleaning. The house was not cooling so I thought since they cleaned the air conditioning units would help on the air conditioning. It did not work so I ordered a complete new air conditioner and they found that they did not clean the unit or did not do a good job on the ducts. I ended up paying about $5000.00 to install a new unit. I don't know if cleaning of the unit would have helped, but there was a good chance that it would as it worked well for a month earlier. To say the least, I am very disapointed and I become upset every time that I see their commercials. Terrible. During the service the tech managed to break a ceiling-mounted fan-light fixture by pulling on the chain to try to turn the light on, even though that's not how you turn the light on... the switch was on the wall. The tech left a card for his supervisor to call to see about repairing the damage... neither number on the card worked... so I called corporate. They finally sent a supervisor out 4 days later to inspect, despite their promise of "24 to 48 hours". Today is now eight days after the damage, and the supervisor just called to say that they won't be accepting responsibility for the damage because the light was "dated" (approximately 10 years old). So unless you have brand new light fixtures or anything else in your house, if Stanley Steemer damages it, you are out of luck. They will never step foot in any of my properties again. read more

I was given a 9am-12pm window for SS to do $300 worth of work for me (carpet, couches, tile). At 11:15am a representative called to tell me it would be closer to 12pm. It's 1pm now and no one else has called or showed up. Edit: I received a call just after 1pm. I informed the caller I no longer wanted the work done and he simply said, "Alrighty." Shameful business. Within one hour of my carpets being "cleaned" (poorly), a technician, in uniform, was loading my stolen property into his personal vehicle. Managers Donald Lopez and Chad Thompson were completely unhelpful, disrespectful, and did not resolve the issue. Claimed that employee being clocked out (but still in uniform!) absolved them of any responsibility. Do not trust them inside your home with your belongings. Superior cleaning, with trustworthy employees, can be had for cheaper elsewhere. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. I specifically made an appointment to have a stain removed; needless to say, it was never removed. I attempted to contact management, and after multiple calls and no call backs I gave up. I could have done a better job with a bottle of carpet cleaner and a vacuum. I am very disappointed with this business. I had never used this company before and scheduled an appointment only because of the $35 coupon. When they arrived to clean, however, they managed to upsell me a more "thorough" cleaning. I was hesitant at first, but asked if they could get the dog hair off. They said yes, and not only that but they seemed confident about it. They took both my rugs with them and returned them to my new place of residence. I kept them rolled up for a week, however, because it took that long to rid my floor of all the boxes. When I unrolled them yesterday I found dog hair all over both of them. I've used Stanley Steemer for years with very good result. However, today I had service scheduled, waited all day without leaving my house and was stood up. I had moved all the items from my upstairs except for the large pieces of furniture to ready everything and finally at the last minute of their "arrival window" I called to make sure they would cancel it because I was tired of waiting. Their "arrival window' is 4 HOURS!!! I'll never call them again, too bad, I've spent thousands of dollars over the year with them. Not even a phone call!! read more

I can't believe how great my carpet looks and smells. I had a sick cat who made messes. Because of the odors left by that cat, my other cats decided to continue the trend. In the end, my carpets were a mess. I called Stanley Steemer on Friday and they came out on Saturday. I really expected to wait longer because it is close to Thanksgiving. I took a late appointment block 1:00-5:00 so I would have time to move clutter out of the way. They called mid-afternoon to let me know that they were a bit behind schedule and would be closer to the 5:00 time. Then they called again about 4:20 to say they were on their way. They arrived about 4:45. They took their time and pre-treated the entire area. Then they cleaned the carpets all over. Finally, they sprayed an enzyme cleaner on the carpet to hopefully deter my cats from returning to these areas. It looks amazing - they even got the stubborn spots behind the front door clean! And I can't begin to describe how much better it smells. The real tell was today when a friend helped me move the TV stand that has not been moved in years - and was not cleaned under. The floor behind the stand looks terrible but the cleaned area matches the area protected all these years by the stand. Really, I couldn't ask for a more professional team and they did an excellent job! I will be calling again. read more

Incompetence would be a kind word to use to describe Stanley Steemer. I called to schedule an appointment for carpet and upholstery cleaning. They took my order and I specifically told them I would need a portable unit since my condo was a fourth floor unit and hoses would not reach their truck. The unit they sent was not portable. I called early the next day to make sure a portable unit was available and coming to my unit. They assured me that was the case. The unit that showed up was not a portable unit. Again more phone calls and again assurance a potable unit would be sent. A portable unit shows up but the equipment is broken and a huge wet spot is left on my carpet. Beyond atrocious service and logistics. I wouldn't recommend this firm to my worst enemy let alone a friend. read more

I always heard SS was the best, but I really didn't see that much difference after they were done. I thought there was some kind of stain repellent in the cleaning also, but doesn't seems like it. I can't actually rate the value of service for Stanley Steemer, but I would not want their workers in my office. I went to Chick-fil-a this morning (which I think is amazing and has nothing to do with the story) and saw three vans of workers there clowning around and yelling out of their windows. They also were bothering the drive-thru workers by ordering quarter pounders and holding up the line. I would not want that amount of immaturity and childishness in my office, especially if I was not there to monitor them. If they were acting like that on their own time, fine, but to know that they were on company time acting that way, really represents the company in a negative light. I have used them in the past and watched them, they did move the furniture then, this time I didn't watch and they didn't move anything....really? do you have to stay on them to do their job. After giving me a quote, they charged me $40 more than the quote and they didn't clean my couch. It has streaks where they did a hit-or-miss wipe with their cleaning wand. Also, my living room carpet was soaked under the couch and it took two days to dry. read more

I have been a customer for over 10 years, in the same house, I get the same thing every time - clean areas, protect, deodorize. When they first arrived, the young guy immediately asked to use my restroom, stayed in there forever and had to leave the vent on. Then they reach the dining room and the one guy says to me that they will have to charge me $70 extra dollars because there is a rug in the dining room - I told him I'd had it cleaned several times and instead of moving the large dining room table and taking up the rug, they'd just cleaned over top of it, so it was like cleaning over carpet. They advised me they'd changed their rules??? I was really angry so he stepped outside to call his manager, and I asked the younger guy if he would go out there and ask him to tell his boss that there is a huge dining room table on top of that rug and there is no way I can move the table and the rug back by myself, so they have to clean over top of it. He throws his arms up in the air and tells me "I have nothing to do with this". Really? I thought you worked for Stanley Steemer and I was your customer today........so they tell me they will waive the charge this one time but next time they are charging me for it. I tell them I won't call them again because I just can't move that big table in the dining room. They just tell me it's a new policy......so after they leave, I call the 1-800 number to tell their home office and I spoke with Taylor, who didn't ask my name, didn't ask where I was calling from, didn't ask anything....when I explained to her what happened, she just told me it was a new policy and she just sat there.....no apology, no customer service, nothing.....silence. I work in customer service, so I know that you should at least apologize and try to sound sympathetic - nothing. Taylor wasn't having a good day either - I asked her if she even cared, and she just sat there. I wonder if they really record those phone calls? If so, I'd be changing my attitude a little bit, Taylor. Oh, and they didn't do that good of a cleaning to begin with, just ok, I've had better service people. And to the young guy who wanted to use my bathroom (ick....I don't know you or where you've been.....) - use the gas station around the corner next time - not a customer's house! read more

I've used Stanley Steemer 3 times within the past year for carpet cleaning in the same home. I made an appointment for Saturday, 5-23-15, with an arrival time between 9-1. At 12:02 PM, I was called and told they would arrive in 20-30 minutes. At 1:20 PM, I called back asking an ETA, as they had not arrived. I was informed that they were 'turning in to the driveway', to which I replied that I didn't know who's driveway they were 'turning in to', as it wasn't where I was. Then the man stated they are coming down the road, to which I replied that I was standing in the driveway and they were NOT coming down the road. When I FINALLY saw them, I was speaking to the man on the phone and he hung up on me!! A little consideration and communication would have eliminated a ton of upset and aggravation. Of course they attempted to cross sell the deodorizer and protectant, however I'd already paid for that service the prior cleaning. read more

These guys were great! I couldn't believe the results, before I thought I needed all new carpets but now I know I just need to have it cleaned once in awhile. The two men that came out were extremely friendly and invited me to watch the process when I stepped out because I didn't want to get in their way. They even did another room that I didn't schedule at a discounted fee. And before they left they acknowledged our hardwood floors and showed of pictures of what they can do to it and left me a quote for the future. Will definitely be using them again! read more

Very courteous and professional. Steam cleaning your carpets is much better than using shampoo methods as it does not wear or leave residue on your carpets. It took them 30 minutes to clean what would have taken me all day to do if I had used a rug cleaner myself. read more

The young men from Stnley Steemer who cleaned my carpets did a great job but they for got to turn off the water faucet (located in front of house behind a bush) all the way. So, it kept a low stream of water going for almsot 2 months, I didnt realize it until I got my water bill. I wrote the office to complain, I asked them to pay half the bill sicne I thought we were both were to balme. The office never responded. So factroing in the work and the horrible customer service. Getting our house ready to list - scheduled within 24 hours , cleaned my basement carpet, white dining room chairs and then got someone out on a moments notice to clean my hardwoods. Everything looks great. Only thing is that they forgot to schedule to put my furniture back in place - but just remember to schedule that and you will be fine! read more

They went over everything with me before we started to make sure that they knew what my expectations were and to give me an accurate quote. I paid a hefty sum for Stanley Steemer to clean my carpets in 6 rooms plus a hallway because I believed they would do a thorough job. When they left, I discovered they didn't bother to move furniture and instead just steemed AROUND things. Not only that, some areas were just vacuumed and not steemed at all because they carpets there were not even damp. I am very disappointed and will seek a different carpet cleaning service next time. In hindsight, I should have stood in each room with them while they were working to make sure they did what I was paying them to do. read more

I had a dog have a massive GI bleed all over my white carpets. It literally looked like a violent crime had taken place over the entire upstairs. Stanley Steemer was highly recommended by several friends. I called and they said they could come that same day. I went ahead and had them come the following morning so that I didn't have to leave work early. The all-female team from Lexington came. Those ladies worked their tails off and got all but two of the stains completely up. There was a LOT of blood so I didn't have my hopes set too high. Had I not used some of the consumer-grade products prior to their arrival, the stains might have come up completely. They had great success on the stains that I only had dampened with water, and advised me to only use water and call them immediately if something this extreme happens again. I was impressed with their professional demeanor and hard work ethic. I was surprised to see an all-female team and commend Stanley Steemer for utilizing women in jobs we tend to assume are better suited toward men. I'd put one of these women up against a man any day and would put my money on her. They had no problem moving my furniture around to get the job done. I spent a lot of money that day, but I think I saved money in the long run as I bought the package that covers me for additional rooms for the entire year.
