So, I'm an Atlanta transplant from the sticks of Alabama. I've spent so much time trying to find BBQ that tastes like what I'm used to back home and I must say I've finally found that in Stan's Smoke Signals! I went for the first time this morning. I got there 10 minutes before opening and there was already a line. I happily waited in line 45 minutes due to the heavenly aroma and the stories from my line mates about how good the food is. They did not lie! I ordered the rib tips dinner. The rib tips, BUSSIN! The baked beans, PHENOMENAL! The fried corn, IMMACULATE! I'll be back to try more menu items but I'm still on a high from the meal I had today! BBQ lovers have to try this spot! But get there early!

These were definitely some of the best ribs I've had. On the day I went, it was their first day back after a hiatus and the line was long. I've never waited that long to place an order for food in my life! I passed the time by making small talk with the other patrons in line. They're normally open on Saturday and Sunday. While waiting in line, the owner would come out and cross items out on the menu as they sold out. Thankfully what I wanted was still available when I got to the front of the line. I ordered the rib plate with baked beans and potato salad. Everything was delicious. The ribs weren't super tender, but were smoky and flavored perfectly. The regular bbq sauce & honey mustard bbq sauce were top notch. The extremely long wait time has deterred me from returning sooner, but I definitely plan on returning.

2nd Visit: Its Sunday and I didnt feel like cooking. Stan's seemed to be a good choice. Overall I was disappointed this time. 1st: Stood in line (which was pretty long but expected) in the sun and waited patiently to place my order. However the friends that Stan knows are able to come to the window, place orders and pay for them in front of everyone else. When I said something about it, Stan's response was: they aren't taking food right then, but placing an order for later so why should that bother me? IT BOTHERS ME BECAUSE IM STANDING IN THE SUN IN A LONG LINE TO SUPPORT YOUR BUSINESS & YOU DONT HAVE THE COURTESY TO CONSIDER YOUR OTHER CUSTOMERS. I STILL stood in line to make my purchase. Then Stan comes out and asks if I was still upset. I told him no, I would just update my YELP review. To which Stan was UNPROFESSIONAL enough to tell me how he doesnt care what I do with my YELP review. WHICH IS THE ISSUE WITH OUR BUSINESSES...THEY DONT CARE. Today I ordered a slab of ribs which weren't tender like they were before. I received 4 cups of sauce, which isnt enough for a full slab of ribs. I tried the Mac n cheese... it was mushy. I tried the baked beans they were OK but needed more flavor/seasoning. I guess its hit or miss...but regardless I wont support poor service and a nonchalant attitude when customer feedback is given. So today was my last trip to Stan's.

This is just perfect bbq at its finest. All I had were the ribs because he had started to run out of the sides, but the ribs were good enough. The ribs were tender, but not fall off the bone tender. It had just enough of a bite to it that it meets a happy medium of not too tender and not too tough. The ribs were seasoned perfectly with a nice smoky flavor throughout each bite. I'm not sure if the bbq sauce is homemade. It seemed as if it had a ketchup base that was also sweet and smoky. The only hours that I am aware of are 12pm until 6pm on Saturdays, or until the food runs out. Get there early and pack your patience because the line is usually long. I look forward to tasting the side items which includes mac and cheese, baked beans, potato salad, peach cobbler, etc.

Whew. Where do I start?? NO KIDDING. I arrived at 12:20 pm and was not very far from the window. The sun was so strong my foot was frying for the 3 hours and 45 minutes I waited in line. Yes, NEARLY 4 hours and I was not 15 miles away!!!!!! I will NEVER do that again. I tried this spot because my goto spot, Herb's Rib Shack was sold out by noon I googled black BBQ spots and thought I would try this joint. Sorry no pictures because once I got home, I was soooooo exhausted and heat drained, I just wanted to eat and chill out. The ribs are PERFECT!!! I mean... COMPETITION PERFECT!!!! Seasoning, smoke, and tenderness with the right pull is 1000% PERFECT!!!!! I mean.,, PERFECT!!! I got the dirty rice (nice kick and seasoned), Mac/cheese (you can see the shredded cheese in the dish ( yummy as hell). I wanted greens and baked beans but they sold out. WTF!!!! If you're not in danger of a heat stroke, baby due, greens on the stove, dropping by before you head to a party..., it's definitely worth the wait. So many in line were of age and we all said we would not be back just because of the wait considering our distance to the window. There was only one person taking money and preparing plates. I would gladly help for FREE on weekends just to help him move the line. Too many seniors and women waiting for food. If you have the stamina it's definitely worth the wait for sure!!!!!! But Herb's is still my boy!!! Not too salty and prepared with a dry rub with sauce on the side like it's suppose to be.

Had to be 90 degrees outside and the owner saw his loyal customers suffering in line and provided everyone with water free of charge. I had a full slab dinner it was worth the wait. Definitely going back!

We parked next door at the gas station and walked to the park. There was no parking fee or entrance fee. We made it there about 9 and there were about 5 vendors and many tables to sit and enjoy your food. There was also music playing. Slutty vegan seemed to be the only vendor with a line. When I'm talking line, I'm talking L-I-N-E!!!! As we were waiting, we ended up getting a spiked lemonade from one of the vendors and it wasn't spiked much. Atlanta is better off for having food trucks (and this park, specifically). Despite the cloudy, on-and-off drizzly weather, the park had a good turnout of patrons between 7-9pm on a Thursday night. Thanks to those who braved the elements for our UYE (http://www.yelp.com/events/atlanta-atlanta-food-truck-park-uye). The food truck/food stand lineup was pretty good: Sweet Auburn BBQ Corn-a-Cue One Love Jerk Grill Metro City Dogs Lemonade Stand WOW! Food Truck Ibiza Bites Chay J's New Orleans Candies Rouxd Food Truck King of Pops Yum Yum Cupcake Verizon also had a stand. I've been following the park's official calendar (http://www.atlantafoodtruckpark.com/calendar/) over the past month and noticed Thursday nights are the ideal weeknight (excluding Fridays) to go for the most trucks and the best selection. I suspect there might have been more trucks last night if it wasn't for the weather. I ended up trying a little bit of everything: Arepas (Venezuelan sliders) from WOW! Food Truck Beef brisket with Asian pear slaw taco from Sweet Auburn BBQ Goat cheese-stuffed fried green tomatoes from Ibiza Bites Creole pretzels and Creole popcorn from Chay J's I'll be posting reviews for each of those trucks in the next few days. If you come for dinner, I recommend coming on the early side as the food trucks only have a limited supply of items and do sell out. This leads some trucks to close early. I saw many menus with marked off items that had sold out for the day. Yum Yum Cupcakes shut down early because they sold out of their cupcakes for the day. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much seating the park had. I counted 16 large picnic tables in the main "dining" area, most with umbrellas. Each picnic table can seat up to about 8 people each. The picnic tables are located on a flat, paved surface. The food trucks are located in a large gravel lot. This lot has 4 communal standing tables and 2 additional picnic tables. So overall, this spot has quite a bit of seating, which is convenient. Also, plenty of trash cans and recycling bins to keep the grounds looking relatively clean. The park is family and dog-friendly. It can be a little loud because you're around all these big trucks and next to busy Howell Mill Rd. You can BYOB, so save money by bringing your own drinks. If you want water, I saw some trucks selling it for $1 per bottle. There is one restroom and it's a "Johnny on the Spot" porta-potty in the parking lot with portable sink outside so you can wash your hands. There is ample free parking behind the park. Turn onto Emery St, next to the Shell Station on Howell Mill, to find it. If you need more detailed directions, check out the park's FAQ here: http://www.atlantafoodtruckpark.com/faqs/. The parking lot is old and filled with pot holes, so drive carefully. I saw someone puncture their car's tire by running over a broken-off metal sign post on the ground (she was trying to make too tight of a turn around the dining area). Note that every Wednesday and Friday night throughout the summer, the park will be playing movies for free. Also, from time to time, there is live music. On the weekends, there's a food market with rotating vendors and an artists market coming soon. Overall, I'm very happy with the Atlanta Food Truck Park and definitely plan on returning.

Plan to spend at least $8 for lunch. My usual go to trucks are Mix'd Burgers, Seven Seas and Gekko isn't too bad either. What I like: Mix'd Up: Rockin Hero burger with extra Tzatziki sauce. (Lamb burger) $8.00. Mix'd Up : Sante Fe burger. Which is a black bean burger for the Veg heads or if you just love black beans like I do. $7 or $8....cant remember. It's only a dollar, go ahead....splurge a little. Lol Moving on...... Seven Seas: lamb gryro with loaded fries. It's worth every $12. The fries are loaded with feta and tzatziki sauce. Other than this.....like ordering from here Especially when I get to see the Owner's dreamy eyes. He's so handsome! (I can dream, right?) Gekko: Only been once. I tried a shrimp teriyaki bento box. It was filling and I think I spent somewhere between $12 to $15. Will probably try again one day. Well that's my long awaited review of Food Truck Thursday corner of 12th Street & Peachtree Street. Landmarks are STK restaurant and Bank of America...and obviously you shouldnt miss the Food Trucks.

We arrived today just after 11, and the line for Yumbii was reasonable and there were almost no lines at the other food trucks. Last week, we arrived after 11:30 and the lines were miserably long - at least 30-40 minutes for Sweet Auburn BBQ just to place an order, and then maybe another 10-15 minutes for the food. Honestly, the food wasn't worth the wait. I guess there's this expectation that street food is supposed to be unique - something I can't find at the everyday restaurant. And isn't street food supposed to be cheap - like average $5. But I still made the decision to try Sweet Auburn BBQ b/c I was so drawn to the smell of smoking meat. And maybe psychologically I was drawn b/c it had the 2nd longest line so maybe the food is really good. I got the $8 plate which included choice of meat, side, and Texas Toast - I decided on the beef brisket (ok) and the jicama & Asian pear slaw (good). Texas Toast was more like Texas bread - thick but not toasted, and plain w/ no garlic butter :( I tried my friend's salad w/ BBQ chicken - pretty good but nothing special either. If you're looking for a more authentic street food experience, your time might be better spent waiting in line for the other food trucks. So today, I finally had my first Yumbii - and it will not be my last :) My favorite was the sesame fries esp. the chipotle ketchup. The fries are dusted w/ salt & chili flakes, and you can taste a hint of the sesame oil - it really works! Fries are $3 and the portion is enough for 2 ppl. Yumbii tacos are $2 and $3. I had 2 tacos which was plenty - they are deceivingly filling! I enjoyed the fish taco ($3) which was surprisingly 1 big piece of fish (vs. the usual 2-3 tiny pieces you get at other places). I wasn't a fan of the spicy pulled pork taco ($2) - it was spicier than expected and dripping with oil :( And like week #1, we got a King of Pops to enjoy on our walk back to work. I tried the Mojito this time which was nice & refreshing - my only complaint is that all the herbs sank to the bottom of the popsicle which probably can't be helped. I'll just have to come up with a more creative way of solving that problem :) Overall I'm still giving 5 stars b/c I'm a huge fan of street food.

Who knew that Koreans owned Mexican groceries? Anyway, this lady is out in the front of Taco Market with a bunch of coolers. I have no clue if she's associated with Taco Market. She does look Asian; maybe she's the owner! She sells corn and tamales straight from the cooler. This is straight up Mexican street food here. The corn is grilled and topped with mayo, cheese, and ancho chili powder. I didn't have it, but it looked awesome. Sure, the corn looked good. But when I found out she sold tamales as well, I immediately jumped on the chance to get one. Thanks to Pheeby B.'s Spanish speaking skills, she was able to snag us some tamales. She had pork and chicken tamales. And they were cheap. They only cost $1.25 each. I felt like I was in Mexico again with prices that cheap. I tried the chicken tamale, and they tasted good. I was disappointed that they weren't as moist and succulent as the ones I had in the streets of Mexico. But they tasted better than the crap they serve at Tex-Mex restaurants here in Atlanta. I think for $1.25, you can't go wrong with these homemade tamales. So if you see this woman hanging out in front of some coolers, try some corn and tamales. I have no clue if she speaks English though. So you might have to get a Spanish speaker or bust out the Spanish yourself.

EVERYONE ATE ALL OF HIS FOOD. We ordered enough and none was left! All of our guests constantly still talk about how good the food was at the shower Private dinner: Chef Jarvis served jalapeño wrapped in bacon, seafood macaroni and cheese, fingerling potatoes, asparagus and a Tomahawk steak. The steak was extremely tender and well seasoned! The seafood macaroni and cheese was fluffy and the seafood taste was not over powering the Mac and cheese. The asparagus and potatoes were fresh and seasoned perfectly! To end the night we were served a brownie that was sooooo soft!
