Wow. I've been wearing glasses for 45 years and this was the worst experience I've ever had. People didn't know how to use the exam equipment. Now way I'd trust their prescription to be accurate. I'll spend a little more and go to a real optometrist. read more

This review is solely based on my recent experience in Onalaska WI. After I picked up my new glasses, I got home, looked closely, and realized that the store manager had melted one of my lenses. (I've since learned that the lenses must be removed when making adjustments at the nose.) It turns out the damage was irrelevant because I wasn't adapting to the new lenses, even after 2 grueling weeks. A staffer suspected that the pupillary distance might be set wrong, so he ordered a remake on both lenses. I wore the remakes for another 10-12 days and it became clear that the left lens was still horrible. (I don't blame Stanton for this, as they don't make the lenses.) Bear in mind, throughout this ordeal, I had to go back to my optometrist for a recheck, and also back to Stanton for lensometer readings and additional troubleshooting. In the end, it put about 1000 miles on my car as there are no nearby locations. It became such a big problem in my life that I was actually considering corrective LASIK surgery to solve the matter once and for all. When I politely had to request another remake of the left lens, the manager suddenly started treating me like I was a nuisance. She basically told me they were done helping me. As a former professional photographer, I know that lens making is not an exact science. You can spend two thousand bucks on a camera lens and still get a factory-inspected flawed piece of glass. I also learned that eyeglass lenses are relatively cheap to make, so I wasn't too afraid to ask for just one more remake. But the manager wasn't as concerned as I was about resolving the issue. I'm upset that it was MY idea, and not hers, to simply pay them for another vision recheck so a new left lens could be made from the updated prescription. She agreed to it. When I told the eye examiner that I technically only needed one eye rechecked, the manager overheard and spoke in an extremely snippy and condescending manner that they don't do "one-eye exams." She probably thought I was trying to pay half price. I wanted to argue back at her but I had to keep calm because I didn't want to be out $500. Ultimately, a new lens was made, and I can finally see well out of both eyes again! I may never understand why it took two tries for the right lens and three for the left, but the store manager only made the situation worse. Maybe she's under a lot of pressure to maximize profits, but that's no excuse for being rude or for bailing out on a customer without exploring all options first. The rest of the staff were great, but I will never set foot in that place again under the current management. read more

Broke my glasses and had to get some new ones for work. I went in and they said they accepted my insurance but they didn't talk to them and I had to. I should had went somewhere else when they said that but I decided to still get a new pair of glass as I needed them as fast as possible. After paying for my glasses, I talked to my insurance so they can cover it, it turns out Stanton Optical was out of network and will only cover 50 dollars. I paid 500 dollars for the pair of glasses It was my fault for not doing my research beforehand but the people working there need to be better. read more

Went for eye exam, was NEVER told they don't actually have an optometrist on site!! Exam was done by a technician who seriously yawned through the entire exam. Sample contact lenses given are clearly not correct as I have no distance vision when wearing them!! Don't waster your time or money, go somewhere legit!!! read more

Our family is new to the area and my 6-year-old daughter has a very strong prescription with thick lenses. We purchased her glasses from another business in our old state and they ghosted us when we needed warranty replacement of her frames (which were only 5 months old). I was able to find the frames online and ordered them, but did not want to try to put the lenses from her original pair into the new frames myself. We brought them in to Stanton and were immediately greeted by staff. We fully expected to pay for the service and understood that it was risky to try and pop the lenses in to the frames outside of the lab. I signed a waiver and hoped for the best. Stanton delivered! We were so happy to be able to walk out with straight, well-fitted frames for my girl. When I offered to pay, they declined. The customer service here was outstanding. The manager went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with our visit. I highly recommend this location and their staff. read more

I walked in and needed a prescription unfortunately I waited a pretty long time before I went in to renew my prescription the service was great the choices were great , I was really surprised that there was a place you could walk in and get a prescription and exam within an hour I've bought two glasses and it's going on 14 days I'm waiting for them to be delivered as excited as I was it's still being delayed ..( COVID delay I am sure). as much as I love the service at Stanton I probably would've gone to to a place where I could get them within about the same day... Right now I have no idea when these glasses are coming very expensive glasses , two pairs all prepaid .. if you're in no hurry I recommend this place because of the service in their office was awesome. read more

Went to check this place out as I needed some new glasses. We were taken care of by Paige and couldn't have been happier with the attention and customer service she provided. Everything was smooth and eye exam was very easy. ALL employees that I worked with were very friendly and professional. After my exam I came out to see my wife putting a couple of frames away for her appointment next week when she had more time. I bought 2 pairs of glasses for a lot less than what I normally pay. I purchased my glasses in August of 2022 and as of today no one at the Onalaska, Wi store are trained in fitting new glasses. I have made several trips to the store with the same problem. It is very frustrating! On February 15, 2023 I stopped to show the staff my frames as they were peeling on the bows and under the lens. Tyler the sales manager said I have never seen this happen. I stated it looked like a manufacturer issue and he agreed. He told me there were no brown frames in my style but he had black. He also said he would reach out to other stores to try and find the brown frames Once again he tried adjusting my glasses and he tried changing the nose pads as I sat there for a hour waiting and no success. Finally I said put my lens in the black frames and we will go from there. Tyler did this and tried adjusting them again with not much luck. I finally left after 90 minutes. On Friday February 17, 2023 I stopped in the store again to get my glasses adjusted still in the black frames. As Joni adjusted them I asked if Tyler had heard anything about the brown frames that he had requested from other stores. Joni asked Tyler did you receive the brown frames and he replied yes, but I don't know where I put them. He finally found them with my name on them. I received no phone call to tell me they were in the store. As Tyler was changing my lens back into the new brown frames he went on to tell me that he talked to the manager Joni. Joni told me that I would have to charge you 20 percent of the cost of the frames. I said WHAT! This conversation was never brought up when I was in the store two days prior. He knew I was not happy. It took him another hour to change the lens and put nose pads on. Once again he tried adjusting them and I told him they are good enough. I sat there for a total of ninety minutes. One would think after changing lens from one frame to another you would wash the glasses for the client. When I got home I washed my glasses to find chips and scratches from trying to put the nose pads on. I am so mad right now. I will never recommend Stanton Optical to anyone. I am sure if I would like new lens I will have to pay 20 percent of the cost even though Stanton Optical is to blame for this issue. I went there to get my eyes checked and customer was great on till the send my frame out and sol my frame to so one all's and I had to wait 3 weeks to get my frame when my glasses where there then when my fame was there then my glasses did not fit so the told me the glasses are to big for my frame so I had too wait again for 1 more week I will never recommend that place to no one and I will never go back there again read more

HORRIBLE!! My sons glasses broke so I took him here for an exam and glasses on Saturday. 2 pairs of glasses and exam for $79 LMAO scam!! They did the exam and told me his astigmatism got really bad since his last exam so he needed special frames and other things so it was now going to cost $195.00 for the lenses (one pair) and exam. I go can I just have the rx and decided to go to Eyemart express for the glasses. I paid $109.00 and was okay with that price. Anyways. I pick the glasses up on Monday and he couldn't see at all with them. He said it felt like everything was spinning and very blurry. I called our regular eye Dr and got him in today (Wed) and the rx was completely different. His stigmatism did not get worse it was actually about the same as previous and they had it Five Points higher whatever that means so I got a new prescription and I went to show them at Stanton and they were RUDE. They said well we can't pay for the lenses you got because you didn't get them here. I go I know but your machine was broke and I took the rx you gave him to Eyemart to fill it and he couldn't see. They go well that's not our fault. I go REALLY IT WAS YOUR prescription from an eye exam YOU gave him and it was WRONG!!! They go well there is nothing we can do. I go to Eyemart and they were WONDERFUL they couldn't believe how off it was and gave us new lenses FREE OF CHARGE!!! I was the 2nd person today that had issues with glasses not being right from this place. DON'T GO HERE ITS A TOTAL SCAM AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING!! Customer service is horrible!!
