This place is a nightmare. Wait and wait and wait is the motto. Then get charged way mare then they advertise. Like 10 times more! Once your glasses are made they WILL NOT CALL YOU! Because their auto call system is broken! Tough luck. Go to pick up your glasses. Get ready to WAIT. Then one pair of your glasses will be incorrectly made! Oops we'll sorry they didn't do the astigmatism correctly. We 'll fix it free! Isn't that nice? It will take 2 weeks! But we won't call you because our notification system is broken. (We don't know when that will be fixed. So sorry So I get to just drop in and WAIT. There is a 30 minute wait for EVERYTHING. Even your scheduled appointment which took 3 HOURS. Because after your exam you must WAIT a long time after selecting frames. Now, 6 weeks later still WAITING for my 2nd pair. Did I mention it was $700, that's right. Seven hundred. And when you pick them up they don't do any fitting adjustments. They just hand you the cases. After of course, YOU WAIT!!! I'm going back to America's Best. UPDATE TO MY ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW: I got three messages to come to pick up the glasses we were waiting on. The automated system said we were to puck up 2 of the three when we were waiting on only one. Husband drove 30 min to pick up, only to have them say they weren't there. If we ran our business this way, we would be closed. ORIGINAL REVIEW: My husband and I made an appointment over the phone with what seemed to be the call center. We showed up at our appointment time to find the doors locked. I called to ask what was going on, and was told there must have been a "glitch" in scheduling, so we made another appointment, only to show up to be told we weren't in the book. I will say that I think it's a call center issue, not the actual store. They got us in immediately. Dr. Bowers was amazing! Also, Adrian, who helped us find glasses, and checked us out was so helpful, and sweet. I'll go back just because of those two people. This place is Amazingly AWFUL! I went in being told that my eye exam was free. NOPE. Because I have insurance the total on my invoice was $538.00 which is outrageous, and let me tell you what I actually received. Eye exam $95.00 Frames $109.00 Lens $278 (no line bifocals) Two charges of $28.00 for some coating. ( I'm not even that blind!) Because I have insurance I didnt "qualify" for their "special advertised pricing" Their employees must get paid on some type of commission because they are pushy af! So today, over 2 weeks later, I go pick up my ONE pair of glasses. And just like vultures, here they come with another "deal" just for me, any sunglasses only $100. When I got home this evening I called to cancel the sunglasses and complain about the companys ethics. Now I'm being told they will put in a "request" to cancel so it might not be approved. Well my bank will make sure its approved. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worse enemy. Customer satisfaction guaranteed.....to that I say what the F@@K ever!! As someone who has had poor vision most of my life and having seen eye doctors often as a result, I rank my visit to this Stanton Optical as the worst experience I have ever had with an eyeglass store. First of all, the glaucoma test is a joke and I was sent to an ophthalmologist who told me I didn't have it when the optometrist here said I did. (Extra $180 there.) They couldn't make the glasses right after two attempts, and when I told the doctor he was wrong about me having glaucoma, he just shrugged his shoulders like it wasn't a big deal to him. Well...it was to me! During one visit as I was waiting to be helped, one of the employees was sat with a lady talking about church. He did nothing to help me other than indicate where the bathroom is. Absolutely abysmal experience, and I wouldn't recommend anyone visiting for absolutely any reason. read more

This review pertains to the Spartanburg location. I picked out my frames on April 27, 2020 And after all the extras were added the price was $455 plus change - pretty pricey for a company that advertises 2 pairs for $59. Wrote a check for the entire amount and was promised delivery in 2 weeks or no later than 2 1/2 weeks due to hold ups caused by the Carona virus mess. I checked on them in 2 weeks and visited the store a day after 2 1/2 weeks - no glasses. I was promised delivery in an additional week and got them on May 21st. The first apology I received was from the young lady that cleaned, adjusted and gave them to me. They shouldn't make promises they apparently can't keep. I could have gotten them made by a company like Lens Crafters in less than a week, which is what I'll do next time. This is such a great place to get kids glasses. My son broke his new pair because he's nine years old and wild as a buck. We took his prescription into this place and within 25 minutes he walked out with two pairs of glasses for a fraction of the price of his original pair that I bought somewhere else. Not only that if you break a pair take them back in and they will sell you the frames for super cheap and just put your lenses in.Ty and Victoria were super helpful and made it quite easy to want to get the rest of my family service for eyeglasses at this place read more

I took 2 frames of sunglasses that are for Motorcycle riding, was supposed to take 10 business days for them to replace the lens with a 1.25+ lens. Took 13 business days for one pair, and the other frame was broken by an employee. But they called me to explain what happened and said they would make it up to me somehow. They did, finally got the other pair of sunglasses with some delay due to Irma. Also, to make up for the breaking and the delay, was given a pair of regular sunglasses to amend the fact that I had to wait so long and that I had to go buy another pair of Motorcycling Sunglasses for them to replace the lens. I was drawn to Stanton Optical mainly by their television commercials, which I thought were ingenious. Getting an eye exam was completely simple and I could have even gotten one as a walk-in. The doctor that examined my eyes, was clearly (no pun intended) qualified and proficient. He followed a work flow that went full circle. He also was very familiar of a condition known as Central serous chorioretinopathy (which he did not have to look up in a book!) He was polite and enjoyable to talk with. Everyone of the staff was extremely polite attentive and helpful. The inventory was vast but I trusted the salesperson to find what she thought looked the best on me. The glasses I have are of very good quality and I did receive two pair. The price per unit was probably 78 percent less than if I'd of gone to another discount retailer. The sheer fact that I got an extra pair of the same or even better quality proves that I certainly got an extra pair of glasses FREE. Plus an eye exam. What's not to like? Go there! ps. Our first and only visit was okay. The exam was lightning fast so Not sure how thorough it was, but it was free so you kind of get what you pay for. The people helping with glasses were very very friendly and helpful. However, the person who answered the phone talked so fast you couldn't even understand her. When asked to speak a little more slowly, she sarcastically said Iiiiiiiiimmmm ssssooooooorrrrrryyyyyyyy ... that is extremely poor customer service if you ask me. The person calling has a traumatic brain injury and it takes a little bit to process what people are saying sometimes. We were not able to catch her name otherwise I would have called and asked to speak to the mgr. One gal there named Victoria was very sweet and helpful. read more

I visited the store in Spartanburg, SC at 2500 Winchester Place. This was my first visit to a Stanton Optical. When I entered the store, it seemed like the employees were helping other customers. The store didn't seem to be too busy. So I started browsing the selection of frames. I had been in the store for approximately 20-25 minutes when an employee walked up beside and was assisting another customer (who had entered the store after me). She asked if anyone was helping me and I told her "no". She asked an employee, who was standing at the front desk area, (not helping another customer) if she would assist me. I believe that the employee's name was Sophia, but I am not 100% sure. This employee came over and I described what I was looking for. She showed me several different frames, but there were none that fit what I was looking for. She said that she would go to the back and look at the inventory to see if she could find what I was looking for. While she was looking in the back, I continued to look at the selections on display. About 20 more minutes went by and I was wondering what was taking so long. I turned around and this same employee was leaning up against the front desk and was on her personal cell phone. I thought that I would just watch to see how long she would stand there. I observed her for about 10 minutes, playing on her phone. She finally put down her phone and I was wondering if she would then come and help me. But she just stood there. About 5 minutes later, a new customer entered the store and she asked if she could help him. I was utterly shocked! So, I just put down the frames in my hand and headed to the door. The first associated (that had asked the other employee to assist me) saw me put down the frames and leave but said nothing. I know that customer service is not what it used to be, but this experience was appalling. If this is how they treat customers, it will not be in business much longer. read more

The ad and sign on door says "2 pairs of glasses and free eye exam for $69.00; glasses in 15 minutes". The sales girl said"the 2nd pair is free so whatever we do to the 1st pair is paid for on the 2nd". Both statements are lies. The 2 pairs refers to single vision lens, i.e. Reading glasses available anywhere for $15 or less. 2 pairs of bifocals with lenses that darken in sunlight were going to be $450+ but came down to $268 if we only wanted one pair. Great service at a wonderful price. The staff is amazing. They took the time to help me pick out frames and everyone in the store helped me decide which frames to go with. I highly reccomend that you visit them for your need. Ask for the manager John as he is amazing at what he does. I highly recommend never using Stanton optical. I had a horrible time yesterday! I went there last year and they took davis vision for me and my husband. We spent over $200 out of pocket for glasses and $10 for eye test. Well this year after I got my eye exam I over heard a lady getting upset because shes been going their for 3 years and they always accepted davis except now and they wanted to charge her alot. So nosey me I ran over there and said you dont accept davis? They said no but were trying to apply every discount so no one would leave. They were gonna make me pay full price for my eye exam and I said I refuse cuz yall asked what insurance I had and never said we dont accept it they also wanted me to look up my benefits so they could match it, at this point i was just done. After fighting for 20 min I paid $10 for my eye exam and left to America's best. They treated me so well and informed me my eye exam should of be zero and I only paid $9 for my name brand glasses... at stanton all the Coworkers were fighting with eachother and one told me see hated that fat bit**. This is the worst place to get glasses We order them Dec 10 2018 and after reordering them now like 5 times my husband still cant see out of the we went to their dr and after the 1st oair didnt work He went to ahis eye dr and gave them his prescription .Sent out for another set after that pair didnt work we tried with no lines lines .Well now were on pair #5 and when he put them on he said I cant even make out any faces .The manager os so rude Sharon Thompson she told me to wear them for a week and if they dont work out well remake them . If he cant see faces how is he gonna be able to wear them for a week !!!! Finally she told me Ill give u 100.00 back and order them with lines .No just give me my money back and well never walk in those doors again . So we paid 330.00 and also paid for another eye exam .She refunded 285.00 minus 45.00 for eye exam .Worst place ever ... The employees were very helpful and nice but the Manager was soo RUDE and not helpful at all Ill never be back there!!!! read more

I would very much like to know why none of you employees know if you keep contacts in stock or if it is something I order by phone or need to drive 35 minutes to order. When ypu call the Spartanburg location you get 3 ootions. Option 1, schedule an appointment, which I do not need. Option 2, check on an existing order of glasses or contacts, or option 3, other. After selecting other Matthew in booking seemef very confused as to why I was calling him and could not transfer me quickly enough, after telling me I had the wrong department. Matthew back in booking could not answer my simple question. When sent to the "appropriate" line, it rang once and I was told the mailbox was full and I could not leave a message. So I called back, asking for Matthew to either get me someone who could answer my question or provide me with the corporate number. Matthew could do neither. I want to know why your employees do not have the corporate number to provide to customers. I want to know why after finding the number myself on Google, that Jacob could not answer my simple question. And why Jacob told me that the Spartanburg location closed at 3:00pm (as it was 3:15pm when I was speaking to him) despite the fact that Google (and ypur Facebook page) says they are open until 5pm today. I'd love to know why there is no weekend supervisor on duty, as I was told I would have to call back tomorrow to speak with Vivian? That absolutely no one is in charge at your corporate office today. What kind of business are you all running over there, where your employees that are answering the phone in store and on the corporate level cannot answer a simple question? Or update the hours on your Google page, so that I do not have to drive 35 minutes out there with my 2 infant daughters just to find out you are closed? Why is there no room to leave voice mails? Does the Spartanburg office make it a habit of ignoring it's customers? Why is there no where, by phone or online, to find out the hours of operation? Your website says satisfaction gaurenteed. This was one of the worst experiences my husband and I have had. They advertise for a free eye exam and 2 pairs for $99 (bifocals). I had to pay for the exams. Then was told that the cost would be deducted from the glasses. They advertise hundreds of frames to choose from. While they have "hundreds" there are only about 9 pairs for men and about 12 for woman that fall into the category of 2 for $99. We finally selected 2 pairs each. We were leaving when we realized we had been overcharged. I called back they checked found that was the case. So, we had to drive back to them to be refunded the difference. (Basically the eye exam wasn't deducted off). When I originally scheduled the appointment I was told that the glasses would be done same day. I asked if that included bifocals. They said yes. When we had to go back for the refund I added to verify what time to come back. I was told 5-7 days. I said I was told same day. They made the excuse that the appointment setters don't know that . All in all it took over 14 days to get them. Went to pick them up. They did not fit them they just gave them to us. They bent one of my husbands glasses when putting the lenses in. That was not corrected. Now I cannot wear mine because the prescription is not correct. When I called them they said bring them back. We will send them back to be checked. So what....now I have to wait another 14 days. I would not recommend them at all. The optometrist was rude. All he did was fuss about how many patients he sees in a day.
